It has been a hundred years since the Shadow fell…
In the world of Midnight, the dark god Izrador reigns victorious. After three ages of scheming and war, Izrador has finally defeated the heroes and armies of the free races. Now the dark god rules the world of Aryth with an iron fist. Enslaved under the Shadow, the race of men leads an oppressed existence, and the Elves and Dwarves have retreated to distant forests and mountains, where their desperate resistance is slowly succumbing to the unyielding might of the Shadow.
It is a time of overwhelming darkness. The fickle flame of hope is almost extinguished, its dying light guarded only by those few heroes who still dare to dream of freedom.
With the Midnight Chronicles DVD, you can bring the gripping narrative of Fantasy Flight Games’ first ever full-length feature film to your home theater! A captivating story driven by a complex and compelling cast of characters, Midnight Chronicles explores the epic struggle between good and evil, in a world dominated by an oppressive and immortal tyrant.
Midnight Chronicles is FFG’s first full-length feature film, and the DVD brings this grim struggle into your home along with a host of special features and never-before-seen extras! Based in the dark universe of FFG’s ENnie-award-winning RPG Midnight, Midnight Chronicles tells the story of the legate Mag Kiln, who has been ordered to travel to the small Erenlander town of Blackweir to investigate the disappearance of a fellow priest. Blackweir is a unruly and dangerous place, where a corrupt mayor lines her purse through her own cunning, a mysterious resistance leader known only as “the Hunter” defends the townsfolk while hiding a dark secret, and a simple farm boy begins to discover his own untapped potential.
Along with his witty and roguish companion Kruce, Mag Kiln soon becomes entangled in an old mystery and begins to uncover not only the forbidden legacy of the town, but also the malevolent, prophetic force that grows within him.
Midnight Chronicles is the epic narrative that tells the tale of two legendary characters, one for the cause of good, the other for the cause of evil. This is the story of their rise and struggle as their destinies become intertwined with that of the world and the dark god that occupies it. With its release on DVD, this timeless story can unfold again and again!
Loaded with special features, the Midnight Chronicles DVD is an experience you won’t soon forget. Fantasy Flight Studios gives you a walk through the stunning visual effects in the movie. Scenes that didn’t make the final cut are brought to life in the Deleted Scenes, and the entire script is included in PDF form for you to read through. We’ve also included the rules for the Midnight Second Edition Roleplaying Game so you can experience the game behind the movie! In addition, you get a sneak peek at the nuts and bolts of Midnight Chronicles with our Behind the Scenes Featurette.
Finally, the DVD also includes a complete adventure module for use with 4th Edition Dungeons & Dragons. This new scenario for a four-player party of first level heroes is set deep in the heart of Blackweir, prior to the events in the movie. Players will get a chance to interact with some of the characters found in the film, such as Loren and Gaelen Landring, Madame Lesher, and Grimnor. Each party will have a choice of using their own first-level characters or using one of four pre-generated characters.

The trailers and the behind-the-scenes clip I found on youtube sure look good and make me want more. I guess the DVD will have a regional code for North America? Then it is dead for me...
Too bad that the midnight setting books seem not to be available any more...
EDIT: Well, reading the blog first might help finding out about the regional code...

You can still download it from DriveThru RPG. Also the download version includes the HD version plus PDF editions of the complete film script; the Midnight RPG Core Rulebook; and an original Midnight RPG 4e adventure, set within the events of the film.
Warning the HD version took me forever to download, thier site is slow!.
You can get a version with out the PDFs there also for only $9.99.
Our distributor told us that it was available in their warehouse yesterday, but for some reason, it isn't in their database yet, so it is still listed as a preorder. I expect that status to change today or tomorrow.

You had to point that out, right? :-) Of course I had to buy it, it is downloading right now - I guess it will take a few hours.
EDIT: I just discovered that there are many old WoD books as pdfs on DriveThru as well - I just wish that I had more money now...
i downloaded it last month from drivetru, I myself really liked it, my best friend did not, his arguments are sound, but still i give them credit for the lack of financial backup... still more opinions are in somewhere enar the off-topic threads (movies therad i think)

There is a region 2 version available, indeed was available before Gencon. The lousy news is that is has a different distributor and there are zero extras on the disc. It's certainly available in the UK and I believe there was a french version released, don't know about the rest of Europe.
I expect that our distributor will be getting more back in stock soon. In this economy, they usually order light until something proves itself, so I am not surprised that they are sold out of this DVD already. Fantasy Flight is pretty good at restocking quickly, so check back in a week or so.
For those who have seen it, how are the actions scenes? While I enjoyed some of the second D&D movie, I thought the action was poorly choreographed and filmed...

There actually aren't alot of action scenes. The few that there are tend to be brief and quite similar to the 2nd D&D movie. But if you like the setting, its worth seeing. Just go in with reasonable expectations - its not going to be LOTR, its comparable to straight to video products. The 2nd D&D movie is a good comparison.

I'm probably going to skip this then. There are tons of fantasy videos and movies with good setting and background (Dragonslayer comes to mind). But few have decent action scenes. (I'm talking to you Eregon)
If its on par with D&D 2, that's not a shining endorsement. That puts it in the $2-$5 value.
Um, the entire movie has never been seen before... :D
Ah, not quite true... they've been showing it in some form for the past couple of years at GenCon. And it's pretty cool. I think it was supposed to be a TV pilot or something, but I guess they couldn't find anyone to give it a shot.

Yeah, I had heard they were making a series - pity that didn't work out. :(
I just saw this movie, I wasn't expecting much but I was surprised. The story and acting are quite good. I really liked the sets and for those who understand the Midnight Campaign setting, the relative lack of flashy special effects make perfect sense. I do hope that they make another one.

I agree. Definitely worth the price, especially considering the extras that come with it. If a sequel comes along, I'd want to see it.
I just realized that I downloaded the movie two months ago, and never came around watching it - at first, I tried to get it into a format that my DVD player would accept (and failed - my PC kept crashing), and then I was busy with other things and more or less forgot about it. Guess I will try and watch it tonight.
