Crystal Caste delivered these pretty purple dice to us at Gen Con, and they were an instant hit at the booth. We're shipping back a few thousand more—they should be here in a week or so.
Sweet. Ordered two. now I can at least pretend I was there when I roll crits. Although...are you sure this isn't subliminal advertizing? every 20, I'm going to be shouting PAIZO! hmm...

That would be more like superliminal advertising. :)
I don't s'pose I could trouble someone for a comparison shot next to a regular sized d20. Or barring that, an explanation about how much bigger this one would be.
I've been looking for a pair decently sized d20s to use in my games and I'd love for this one to fit the bill.

well, considering that Chessex calls it their "Large" size, and when measuring the standard D20 I conveniantly had in my pocket it came out to 22mm, you gould guess that these ones are approximately 1.5 times as big as the "standard" D20.
(I put standard in quotations because everyone seems to have differant sized and shaped dice lately. And I apologize if you're in one of those silly places that don't use metric and found this explanation useless. I'd do the conversion to Imperial, but i'm just too lazy.)

Thanks much (and while I do live in one of those non-metric places I do understand the metric system well enough to know what you're talking about :p ).
I'll definitely be plopping at least one of these in with my next order.
These dice are fantastic - and roll great too! Just the second or third game they saw use they rolled *two* double Paizo's (threat to kills) - one confirmed on the 1st BB of the Second Darkness campaign, the other was on a player (but didn't confirm, barely).

See, this is exactly why I'd call the new generic system P20 and have Pathfinder be for the Pathfinder Society of Golarion and other world-specific products.
d20 was a recognized identity linked to D&D 3.5. P20 shows continuity with change, evolution. Audibly, it sounds similar but now the P stands for Paizo and Pathfinder. Visually, the purple die replaces the red one - similar, yet different. And the P looks like the d turned on its head, rotated 180 degrees or whatever other cute little slogan you want to use.
Also important, if another company who wants to use the system, they don't have to use the word Pathfinder on their product because that word is so closely tied to Golarion. What if a company wanted to do a modern game with the rules, they would have to say "Modern Marvels, using the Pathfinder system" - that makes me wonder if it is a game set in a modern Golarion.
Keep the name Pathfinder for the Paizo/Golarion stuff and call the new system P20. That's how much I like this little purple die.
You've got an intriguing idea there Mosaic. I think referring to the system itself as P20, and the game used to play in the world of Golarion as Pathfinder, would be a great idea! I have a hard time referring to the name of the rules as 3.5 fixed, 3.75, the next logical evolution of d&d, or what have you. It would be much easier to simply say 'the P20 system', that I think i'll just call it that whether Paizo decides to adopt it or not.
I am ordering one of these right now! I have a 9 month old who sits at the table with us I would love to have a full set of dice this size so he can play with them and not swallow them.

I don't see any sets of 34+ mm dice on Paizo's store, but it does look like Crystal Caste offers them directly.
