GameMastery Item Cards: Essentials Deck = Must Buy for GM's!

5/5

If you're a GM looking to expand your resources on a budget, then this is the starter deck of items for you! Just like it says on the box, this deck is filled with the "Essentials" that you need to fill out your adventure.

I just finished plotting out the item drops of the entire Godsmouth Heresy module - using only the cards from this deck (plus one charm for the rune).

Buy the GameMastery Item Cards: Essentials Deck to get started and pick up the other sets as you need them.

One of the best

5/5

I now have all the card decks from the Game Mastery series aside from the booster pack deck. This one is a collection from three different decks. The best cards from each set is the pitch and they are very good ones. Most are very useful and the art is an 8/10. I think now that I have all the sets that the art work needs to be improved over all for all the sets but they are a good addition to the game in general.

Any idea which ones yet? I'd love to see a list, but because I already have a lot of these, the most useful list would be one that says which ones they were in the old sets. "#23 Short Sword" wouldn't help me because I would have no idea which short sword was being reprinted. But something that said, "Item Pack One cards being reprinted: 01, 03, 04, etc." would be fantastic.

BTW, Item Pack One was a 52 card set and Hero's Hoard was 110, but if I recall correctly, there was a 30ish card overlap, leaving about about 130 unique cards. While essentials won't have ALL the cards from both sets, at 110, it will probably have MOST of them.

Nothing new though, right?

Around 20 cards missing by my calculations.

OK, if anyone with certain powers that be are actually reading these boards, I have a better suggestion for what should be in this, not so much item pack one and Hero's Hoard but all the cards from Hero's Hoard and Relics of War combined! Item pack One was already put out as a boxed set complete. But Hero's Hoard and Relics of War were not. I don't care about shiny foil cards I want every single card from the entire set available as one stinkin' set I can shove in the binder I already bought to keep everything straight with the same kinds of display pages other folks use for baseball cards. Can you do that for us please?

Let me amend my earlier request, at 110 cards please just reprint Hero's Hoard as a complete set and use the same numbers so I can combine this deck with the cards I already have of Hero's Hoard in my binder and have one complete set with a lot of extra cards for some items. I rather liked the chainmail that was reprinted from Item Pack 1 in Hero's Hoard. Heck I used the card as a reference for a con badge picture at a convention! If I can get the scanner working I'll make sure I scan the badge for those that want to see it.

You know, its as if these Paizo guys know that I've not been spending money on monthly releases of 3.5 and Forgotten Realms stuff and have decided to help be empty my wallet in the manner it has become accustomed to over the last few years.

The Exchange

Since the date was pushed back a whole month, and chance at a list of the cards to whet our whistles?

Ryn, who sometimes can't get enough

I've added the card list!

I'd say i'm down for this, even though I already have Item Pack 1. I really want to own Hero's Hoard and Relics of War, even if it isn't a complete set.

Thanks a lot for the list and the references to the previous sets.

Looks like a good spread. Only 6 (5?) cards from Item Pack 1, but they are all good ones. Only 1 card that appears in both Item Pack 1 and Hero's Hoard - HH95 Boots. I almost guess that it is a typo and should be HH94 Boots because that one doesn't show up in both sets. Otherwise, everything from Hero's Hoard is stuff you can't get in Item Pack 1. A nice selection of weapons, armor, etc. from Hero's Hoard and Relics of War, including the impossible-to-find ones HH10 Studded Leather and HH39 Spiked Chain. Almost all of the wondrous items from both sets are included.

If you're looking for a 'Best of' from Hero's Hoard and Relics of War, this would be it. Pick up an Item Pack 1 too, and you've got 75/110 of the randoms from Hero's Hoard covered.

And if you're looking for those last few you can't gt in Essentials ... trade!

Shadow Lodge

Although I have most, if not all, of these cards already; I am certain to buy this set when it releases. I love the Item Card Decks. As I was furthering my knowledge of Alpha3, I noticed that the list of Animal Companions had a total of 55 creatures, which is one more than the standard 54 card decks; but includes some Very unusual choices. I would really like to see a deck dedicated to Familiars and Animal Companions; where each animal is tweaked just a bit, to show their connection to the Arcane/Divine; different fur patterns, feather length or colour, jeweled scales, etc. Perhaps a double set including "Improved Familiars"; winged cat, undead dire rat...oh, but one request...as stated months ago; no, unnecessary, boney plates or horns in awkward places.

...cheers...

LOL I second that

Still waiting on mine to arrive. I'm a little miffed because this was apparently shipped ahead of Skeletons of Scarwall and while the cards have yet arrive, I got the new pathfinder today. We'll see when the golem shirt ships and when I get it.

I was going through the my item decks to set up treasure for the comming session, and I realized that Paizo left a horrible ommision ...

There are no Chainmail Bikinis in any of the item decks!

Paizo's team needs to get on this right away! A girl's got to be properly dressed, ya know!

I think that's in the forthcoming Erotic Fantasy Fashion Gear Deck. :-P You'll even be able to equip the clothing on the set of Body Cards, the companion deck to Face Cards. The Body Cards are going to be random though, with Shelyn's body being a Rare card and one you'll definitely want to get your hands on.

Spoiler:
In case it needed to be said, I'm joking.

Nay!

Chainmail Bikinis are Essential Equipment!

It has been so since Estaban Maroto established the trope in the early 1970s!

So we need our Chainmail Bikinis!!!!!

Just to make sure that this doesn't fade into obscurity, here are some more thoughts on ... Chainmail Bikinis!

They are an essential piece of Adventuring Equipment. They need to be included in an item pack in the near future!

Any progress yet on getting me my Chainmail Bikini item card? ;D

I'm not taking a pro or con stand on chain mail bikinis, but it might be fun to have one or two cards in each pack determined by community vote. Folks could nominate odd items and the top vote-getter would make it into the pack.

P assume these cards are used or magic items. For example if you get a +2 flaming longsword you can just write +2 flaming on the back of a longsword card.

Question, are these cards reusable (I.e. Can you erase and rewrite on them)?

The back has a large section of uncoated paper so you can write on it; if you'd like to erase it, I'd suggest writing lightly with a soft pencil.

So.... the whole thing is coated like playing cards except that one area that you write on?
You can just use a pencil and eraser on it?

I have to state my mother got me two different packs of these GameMastery cards. This was one of them. I love them.

I have to state on the chainmail bikini that item might tempt my mother into finding her old stats for the chainmail bikini she actually had a character wear. +5 and also distracted everyone at the table including the other players if they were male.
