Ha!

Nah! Then you qualify for the "my Paizo bill is larger than my mortage payment" tag.

Which is why I've begun building a new house out of cardboard from paizo shipping envelopes & boxes!

Which, as it turns out, is what the Paizo offices are made of as well.

Does this subsciption come with a Pathfinder subscription or do you only get the ones that correspond with the adventure path?

We'll be shipping the first Pathfinder Companion for free along with subscriber copies of Pathfinder 13. To get further volumes, you'll need a Pathfinder Companion subscription.

And don't worry—if you sign up now, and you would be getting a free copy of the first volume, you won't be sent (or charged for) an additional copy from the subscription.

Howdy ! I am just glancing through the " Elves of Golarion" and on the front inside jacket is an error . According to the BETA playtest version; Elves have a +2 to Intelligence as well as the regular Ability modifiers

Pathfinder products (APs, Companions, Chronicles, Modules) are not switching to the PfRPG until August of next year, when it is finished. Until then they are staying 3.5, as indicated by the "OGL" in the product's description.

Question .....

If I subscribe today I know I'll get free PDFs for future companions when they ship.
As a subscriber, if I order past issues, do I also get the free PDF?

Nope—subscriber benefits are not retroactive.

Thanks Vic. Guess I'd best get the PDFs while PDFLove is still available.

Thanks.

We're not having a booth at Origins this year. However, I do expect that you will be able to add items like these to your subscription shipments *very* soon.

Are these products going to be available in print form to be sold at your Friendly Local Game Store?

Yes, they're available through hobby distributors such as Alliance and ACD.

Will all of the new releases from here on out be PFRPG related? I have to assume since most of this stuff relates to other products that are only PFRPG now.

This happened in March sometime? Lots of stuff happened at a time I just had no ability to track.

Now I need to figure out how to catch up with this before stuff goes out of print. Is there a sub+previous releases option?

Every Companion product from Qadira onward will use the Pathfinder RPG Core Rules as it default. So right now, Qadira and Cheliax are the two PFRGP Companions.

Need a clarification, because I want to start this. I already have the Chelix sourcebook. Do I need to wait until the Dwarf sourcebook is released before starting my subscription, or starting it prior to it's release, for my subscription to start with the Dwarf sourcebook? As soon as I have an answer, I'll know when to start my subscription.

When you start a subscription, you are given a choice between starting with the current product or the next product. So you could subscribe now and choose to begin your subscription with Dwarves.

I had hoped that the dwarven god of war in Pathfinder would have the dwarven waraxe as his weapon, but again the dwarven god of war had just a battleaxe.
The dwarven war axe was snubbed in 3.5 and now again in PFRPG it seems a perfect fit, IMHO.

LOL Mmmm so much drool worthy eye candy to choose from, unfortunately, it is beginning to seem like PF too much of a cash sink.Would love to subscribe, but I think 5 or 6 recurring monthly subscription fees is getting a bit ridiculous. First, I would be much happier to see two or three compendiums come out a year with a compilation of all the new source material in a nice hard back like the core books. I think it will be very frustrating for my players that they don't all have the same access to the same materials, unless of course they are ensconced at my house.

I have a question: If I subscribe to the Companions, and one comes up that I have no interest in, will there be an 'opt-out'? By that, I mean a "skip this one" clause, rather than having to unsubscribe and resubscribe.

Correct, it's a month to month subscription and you can cancel anytime up until your next volume ships basically.

Thank you - then I'll have to very seriously consider signing up, since the next 4 in line are all products I've noted independently as stuff I want.

So the Goblins book comes out in July, and Faiths of Corruption in Oct. Is there to be no book for Aug and Sept??

I want one for Sept for my birthday!!

Monkeygod wrote:

Technically, the Goblins book is the August release. All of the August releases are shipping at the end of July though so that they are shipped in time for GenCon.

Also, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, I believe the Player Companion line is bi-monthly (generally speaking). So, with Goblins in August (late July) and FoC in October, it would make sense that there's no Companion release for September.

Hope you have a nice birthday regardless!

I have some suggestions for the Player Companion line...

I would like to see some of the new classes from Ultimate Magic, Ultimate Combat, and Advanced Players Giude get their own Companion volumes.

Gunslingers of Golarion, Inquisitors of Golarion, etc. We can get new feats, archtypes, abilities, spells, magic items, traits, write up on how the class fits in Golarion etc.

Eventually I would like to see even some of the base classes get this treatment. Druids, Bards, Sorcerers, etc.

I wouldn't mind if some of the new rules systems presented in various AP's were compiled and expanded upon. "Caravan's of Golarion" etc.

A nice expanded treatment of the animal companion, follower, henchman, hireling rules. Maybe with some new material, sample companions and hirelings, etc. "Henchman of Golarion" ?

Player primers for major cities, Absalom, Korvosa, Sandpoint, etc. Showing what a local would know, and what a relatively new comer might know. I know some of these have big books on them, but a short player guide would be nice.

I'm flagging my own post for the spam of a review posted for this product which I cannot flag.

Pathfinder Companion Subscriber

I don't know if anyone has suggested this before, but I would love to see an option to subscribe to the player companions as pdfs only. I don't have much space for extra books right now, and I find pdfs are easier to search for specific content. Just a thought.

I agree that a PDF subscription for Companion and the other products that come in PDFs deserve an auto subscription just like the physical books.

I personally play all my games online because I am not in a good area for RPGers.

Don't need a discount of any kind for the PDFs as I feel they are priced fairly reasonably and a discount would do a disservice to the work put into them.

Checking the website on a monthly basis to make sure I get my pdf checklist is a tad bit annoying and a subscription model for PDFs would be a big improvement.

Thank you for your time Ladies and Germs.

Does the fact there's no product listed for March mean this line is going back to bi-monthly?

Or is that just a one-off (or just a glitch, maybe)? Or even "That far in advance....who knows?" :)

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

I don't know the details behind the lack of a listing, but it's still a monthly line.

If the pdf becomes available when the book ships, does that mean that if I sign up right now for the sub for arcane anthology I'll have to wait a bit to read the pdf?

Yes - at least until the warehouse staff are back at work (and probably a few days beyond that).

I have seen the titles of the November and December releases for the Pathfinder Campaign Setting lines as described at the preview banquet in a couple of places. Did anyone at the banquet happen to say anything about Player Companion line releases after October?

Suggestion for future Player companion.
How about some more Prestige classes.
Specifically, something for rogues.
There are really only 3 classes for rogues.

Arcane Trickster - A troublemaker and a scoundrel who uses arcane magic to enhance her thievery and trickery.

Assassin - A remorseless murderer who kills for money and the sheer thrill of death-dealing.

Master Spy - An espionage expert specializing in disguises and striking swiftly from the shadows.

From a gaming perspective, especially in an Adventure Path, there is more fighting going on than anything else.
The Arcane Trickster is useful in remote disabling traps and locks, but only a little bit of extras when it comes to melee combat.
The Master Spy is great if you are infiltrating someplace trying to find information, but that does not happen very often.
Only the Assassin offers decent combat bonuses, but you have to be an evil sociopath. Unless you are playing an evil campaign (so far there is only one), PCs can't take this prestige class.

How about a prestige class that increases the rogues sneaky skills and combat abilities without having to resort to magic or becoming what he is trying to stop?

While it's possible to be a melee focused ArT, ranged is where it's at and there's a lot of new tools in the recent companion line that make this so much better.

Dark Archive

WORD OF ADVISE:

The Player Companion line is not really checked thoroughly enough for balance or mistakes of the new content, because the monthly release window is too narrow for that with all the different contributors per book.

As a result there is a lot of power creep and sometimes a few underpowered things.

All in all one has to pick the Player Companion that appeals to him/her.

You should check with your GM for permission to use the new content though.

As a GM i would roughly allow half of the PCs content and ban the other half.
