The Pathfinder Adventure Path is Paizo Publishing's monthly 96-page, perfect-bound, full-color softcover book printed on high-quality paper. Each volume is brought to you by the same staff which brought you Dragon and Dungeon magazines for over five years, and each volume contains an in-depth Adventure Path scenario, stats for about a half-dozen new monsters, and several support articles meant to give Game Masters additional material to expand their campaign. Because Pathfinder uses the Open Game License, it is 100% compatible with the world's most popular fantasy roleplaying game.
Paizo releases Adventure Paths in six-volume arcs, meaning each year of Pathfinder will include two complete Adventure Paths.
Ongoing subscriptions are fixed at a 30% discount off of each volume’s cover price, plus shipping. One ongoing subscription will get you every new volume of the Pathfinder Adventure Path as it's released, automatically continuing each month until you choose to cancel it. Instead of paying for your subscription all at once, we'll automatically charge your credit card each month before we ship a new volume. You only need to sign up once, and never need to worry about renewal notices or missed issues!
After we ship your subscriber copy, you'll be able to download a PDF of that volume—a $13.99 value—for FREE! (Note that you only get free PDFs for releases shipped as part of your subscription; you do not get free PDFs when purchasing older volumes that are not sent as subscriber copies.)
Pathfinder Adventure Path subscribers also receive the Pathfinder Advantage: 15% off of suggested retail price of all products on paizo.com, with the exception of non-Paizo downloadable files. (In the case of collectible products, the 15% discount will be taken off of Paizo's regular offering price.) This discount even applies to other Paizo subscriptions that aren't normally discounted! (If you already subscribe to these products, you need do nothing—appropriate discounts will be applied automatically.) With the Pathfinder Advantage, you can save on over 20,000 gaming products in the paizo.com store.
The Pathfinder Advantage does not stack with other subscription or sale discounts. This means that if a product is already on sale for 10% off of suggested retail, you'll get an extra 5% off. (Of course, if a product is already on sale for 50% off, you'll still get 50% off.) The Pathfinder Advantage discount will automatically be applied to all new paizo.com orders as long as you remain an active subscriber.
To qualify for the Pathfinder Advantage, the most recent volume of the Pathfinder Adventure Path must have been shipped to you (or, if you have multiple subscriptions with combined shipments, the most recent volume must be waiting to ship with your other subscription products). Any items ordered at the same time as your subscription, and any orders placed before that volume is shipped, do not qualify for the discount.
The Pathfinder Advantage is only available to customers with ongoing subscriptions. Just having transitioned issues of Dragon and Dungeon doesn't qualify—you must sign up for an ongoing Pathfinder Adventure Path subscription at paizo.com to get the Pathfinder Advantage. (Of course, you won't be charged for new volumes of the Pathfinder Adventure Path until your transition volumes run out.)
If you have other Paizo subscriptions, you can combine them with your monthly Pathfinder Adventure Path shipment to save money on shipping.
When you start an ongoing subscription, any existing preorders for products covered by your subscription are automatically cancelled (or have their quantity reduced by one if you've preordered more than one of an item).

...what I'm getting at is that if media mail shipment was an option, you would be able to knock a few more dollars off of the total cost (and paizo wouldn't take a hit from it). I'll already have the PDF, so I can wait an extra week to get my hard copy if it saves me some money by shipping it a slower method.

Nearly every book we sell in the entire store contains some advertisement beyond "incidental announcements of books" that disqualifies it for Media Mail.

that is how exactly describe the advertisement in you books, in fact it seems very little different then advertisement i see in paperback novels this day.
How do you define incidental announcements of books? and have you verified it with the post office?

Have you seen advertisements in Novels recently or any reference book? other then they are black and white, it is about the same, and I don't think anyone would argue they can't be sent media mail...
Edit: Just looked more closely on USPS definition of incidental mail, and Paizo is correct.. a little annoyed about that, many companies I order from don't follow that and send RPG books media mail. In fact almost any book I see at a book store does not fall into only incidental announcements.

I think you're erring WAAAAY too far on the side of caution for this one. I'll have to look at my AP books again, but IIRC, they contain a full-page ad for one of your books and the order sheet for the other APs that are available. 2/96 pages in the book (if those even count toward the 96 page total...I would hope not) isn't even 3% of the total book...that seems pretty incidental to me. Have you contacted USPS to see if these are actually prohibited per the USPS Media Mail policy?

I noticed the same thing that you did. I guess that a lot of the smaller RPG companies just don't have the manpower or willpower to sort through all the USPS regulations. Paizo, on the other hand, has a very large e-commerce operation. If we fell afoul of the USPS regulations, it could have a huge impact on our business. So we don't take any chances and don't bend the rules. Which sometimes sucks for us and our customers. :( But at least we are following the law.

Stay classy Lisa... Stay classy
Is that the equivalent of "stay on target...stay on target..." :)
Sometimes it is hard not to get just a touch bitter when other people break the rules and get away with it, and then it is constantly brought up as something that Paizo is doing wrong. I've said it once and I will say it again I am sure, we strive very hard to give people the lowest possible shipping rates we can, even to the point of subsidizing those rates if we think they are too high. We gain absolutely nothing when shipping rates are high, and in fact, probably lose business because of it. I just refuse to break the rules in order to get those low rates.
Now, I want to point something out. I don't think those other companies are on purposely breaking the rules. Like I said, they probably don't have the time to check into all those obscure regulations and probably think that they are following the rules. So, I don't think that most of those companies are breaking the rules on purpose. Just as an oversight.
Hi I recently subscribed to Pathfinder Adventure Paths and am planning on running a campaign exclusively using this content.
The problem is I have only started my collection from the Kingmaker. I obviously want to start from the Rune Lord. However I notice that many issues are only available in PDF.
Is there a way I can get the entire collection from number 1 in print?
I'm afraid your best bet is going to be eBay or other similar services. Some adventure path installments are out of print and Paizo haven't announced any plans to release "gift set" bundles or hardcover compilations at this point.
There is also some stores that will mail order stuff. I know locally the Gaming store chain the last time I checked still had most of the RotRL still in print. I am not sure if they do mail order or not though. Fantasyshoponline.com is there web URL with contact info.

Yeah—I can't find the specific wording at the moment, but "incidental announcements of books" is pretty much limited to a list of titles, with or without prices, and an indication of where those books can be purchased. And they all have to be *books*—mentioning map packs or cards would be right out.

You can scrunge used books sites like abebooks, or lurk on Ebay. Or you can buy it in PDF and have a printer print and bind for you from the PDF...
I have about decided to get the AP ongoing subscription, and I realize that once I do, I will get hard-copy via mail and will be able to download the PDF for free. As I look at the subscription page, it is indicating that I can start my subscription with AP #33 or AP #34. I have recently started the Kingmaker AP, and will need #32 shortly.
If I have to go back for #32 and order the hard-copy, will I get #32 PDF as a free download or would I need to purchase that separately?
Actually, the last question could apply to other AP lines (or even other subscription lines). If I have a subscription, and order a back product hard-copy, will it include the PDF or will I have to purchase the PDFs separately?
Looking forward to your reply so I can get my subscription started.

Separately, you only get the free PDF if you was a subscriber and got it as part of your subscription. I know why they do it that way.
Thanks Dark. I went ahead and subscribed and bought #32 PDF. I like having hard-copy, but PDF is just too convenient :(. (And I was Jonesing for something to read lol).
YW and i agree the PDF is handy. I use it before the game or something to C&P some of the information in the back of the AP's to hand out or share with the players more easily.

As it is currently at volume 3, will the subscription start at volume 1 with the 30% cover price or do I need to buy the first books separately?
Right now you can start the subscription with either #33 or 34. Once you're a subscriber you'll get a 15% discount on the back issues you order. You'll get the PDFs free for all the issues included in the subscription, but you'd need to buy those for the back issues separately (if you wanted them).
Any idea when the option to select starting a Sub with "Souls for the Smuggler's Shiv" will occur? I'm assuming soon, since the expected date of arrival for the .pdf is only just over 2 weeks away. :)
Due to major delays with the Australian distributor, Walrus and Carpenter, getting your stuff in (as an example, I still have not received Adventurer's Armoury despite having pre-ordered it through my FLGS way before it was due) I'm going to restart one or two of my more pressing Subs and want to get this one rolling ASAP.
Any idea when the option to select starting a Sub with "Souls for the Smuggler's Shiv" will occur?
You might already know that you can always start a sub with either the most recent volume on the next upcoming volume... but since volumes 36 and 37 are shipping simultaneously, 37 will never actually *be* the next upcoming volume, and 36 will never be the most recent volume.
So the answer is that, as soon as we put 36 and 37 into inventory, which should be sometime next week, your starting option will switch from your choice of 35 or 36 to your choice of 37 or 38.

Bugger, I'll be away all next week and was hoping it might be this week. :(
Yeah, I know about the recent or next volume option, I was just waiting for it to click over to SftSS as the next available option. :)

Since Racing to Ruin (38) won't be out until mid September, you have that long until Souls for the Smuggler's Shiv will disappear.

Will something similar be occurring with #48 and 49? Ideally, I'd like to subscribe to the first issue of the Jade Regent AP AND pick it up at GenCon. Is this feasible? I keep checking back to see if the switch has been made yet, but it doesn't look promising since we are only about two weeks out.
There will be no opportunity to create an AP subscription that starts with Jade Regent #1 before Gen Con.
However, we will have the ability to create subscriptions at our booth at Gen con, so the way to start an AP subscription with Jade Regent #1 and pick it up at Gen Con is to create your subscription at Gen Con. Just grab your Jade Regent #1 and your Ultimate Combat from the shelf, bring it up, and let the cashier (which may very well be me) know that you want to start a subscription with the books. We'll get ya set up right there. :)

Thanks for the reply!! I have a follow-up (somewhat self-serving) question, if I set up the subscription there, will I be able to get the "Pathfinder Advantage" discount on stuff I get from paizo at gencon?

D'oh! Fie on me for having forgotten to address that! I totally meant to include a note on that.
The answer is: Yes, of course you will get your Pathfinder Advantage discount. You will also get the subscription discount (30% off cover price) on the Jade Regent book itself.
Less than a year ago i bought "The Shackled City" adventure path all in one book. All of the dungeon magazine modules plus some extras. Cauldron big city map, a new module, background, some npc quick list and a collection of dungeon maps in a really usefull thin little magazine.
¿Is there some other Adventure Path books like this one? ¿Will there be in the future? It was a great buy. I like the idea of some Adv Path book compendium with maps, etc. Kingmaker looks pretty cool if i can choice ;-)

Is anything in the subscription Pathfinder Society-sanctioned?
This is all my group is into, so if not, I'm inclined to not consider the purchase unless something changes down the track.
Very little - the majority of the book is an adventure which is unlikely to have any player content in it. Same for the fiction & Bestiaries,
this page lists all items that are authorised for PFS. As you can see, there is relatively little from the entire AP line that is sanctioned. I also expect the volume not to change significantly in the future, so it looks like it's not really the thing for your group.
When will I be able to select the first issue of the next AP when starting my subscription? I figured it would tick over when the month switched, but I didn't see it available. :(

The switch only occurs when there's new product shipping, not at the month mark (which is where we'd all like it to be).
Trackin...when is the current installment expected to ship? I guess it doesn't really matter since I'll have to wait until next month anyways, but I'm curious...sue me :P
The Product Schedule is where you can stay up to date on our release schedule, and it looks like you'll be able to start your Skull & Shackles subscription later this month.
Then, you need to make a thread in the Customer Service forum or send an e-mail to customer.service@paizo.com. The product discussion threads are not closely monitored by customer service. But I'll flag your post to see if it can get someone's attention.
I have cancelled your Pathfinder Adventure Path subscription at this time. As Joana noted the best place to make these requests is under the Customer Service section of our messageboards. Thanks for throwing a flag up for me Joana.
