The Pathfinder Adventure Path is Paizo Publishing's monthly 96-page, perfect-bound, full-color softcover book printed on high-quality paper. Each volume is brought to you by the same staff which brought you Dragon and Dungeon magazines for over five years, and each volume contains an in-depth Adventure Path scenario, stats for about a half-dozen new monsters, and several support articles meant to give Game Masters additional material to expand their campaign. Because Pathfinder uses the Open Game License, it is 100% compatible with the world's most popular fantasy roleplaying game.

Paizo releases Adventure Paths in six-volume arcs, meaning each year of Pathfinder will include two complete Adventure Paths.

Ongoing subscriptions are fixed at a 30% discount off of each volume’s cover price, plus shipping. One ongoing subscription will get you every new volume of the Pathfinder Adventure Path as it's released, automatically continuing each month until you choose to cancel it. Instead of paying for your subscription all at once, we'll automatically charge your credit card each month before we ship a new volume. You only need to sign up once, and never need to worry about renewal notices or missed issues!

After we ship your subscriber copy, you'll be able to download a PDF of that volume—a $13.99 value—for FREE! (Note that you only get free PDFs for releases shipped as part of your subscription; you do not get free PDFs when purchasing older volumes that are not sent as subscriber copies.)

Pathfinder Adventure Path subscribers also receive the Pathfinder Advantage: 15% off of suggested retail price of all products on paizo.com, with the exception of non-Paizo downloadable files. (In the case of collectible products, the 15% discount will be taken off of Paizo's regular offering price.) This discount even applies to other Paizo subscriptions that aren't normally discounted! (If you already subscribe to these products, you need do nothing—appropriate discounts will be applied automatically.) With the Pathfinder Advantage, you can save on over 20,000 gaming products in the paizo.com store.

The Pathfinder Advantage does not stack with other subscription or sale discounts. This means that if a product is already on sale for 10% off of suggested retail, you'll get an extra 5% off. (Of course, if a product is already on sale for 50% off, you'll still get 50% off.) The Pathfinder Advantage discount will automatically be applied to all new paizo.com orders as long as you remain an active subscriber.

To qualify for the Pathfinder Advantage, the most recent volume of the Pathfinder Adventure Path must have been shipped to you (or, if you have multiple subscriptions with combined shipments, the most recent volume must be waiting to ship with your other subscription products). Any items ordered at the same time as your subscription, and any orders placed before that volume is shipped, do not qualify for the discount.

The Pathfinder Advantage is only available to customers with ongoing subscriptions. Just having transitioned issues of Dragon and Dungeon doesn't qualify—you must sign up for an ongoing Pathfinder Adventure Path subscription at paizo.com to get the Pathfinder Advantage. (Of course, you won't be charged for new volumes of the Pathfinder Adventure Path until your transition volumes run out.)

If you have other Paizo subscriptions, you can combine them with your monthly Pathfinder Adventure Path shipment to save money on shipping.

When you start an ongoing subscription, any existing preorders for products covered by your subscription are automatically cancelled (or have their quantity reduced by one if you've preordered more than one of an item).

Sorry folks it's official I am an idiot I was on the wrong bloody page, (what a goose!), please disregard my supercilious previous question and tiny rant.

Cheers and all take care

Chris

hmm, I am still waffling I guess I am only casually interested in what I have read so far; so is pathfinder going to be and entire issue about one adventure storyline or will it contain more than one adventure per issue. At 14 +4 shipping dallors a month or 216 dallors a year that is quite a bit for a module of unknown level and without much storyline teaser release so know way to ascertain if it will fit into my campaigns. My favorite thing about Dungeon magazine were the short adventures not the long storylines as the short adventures I could insert into any campaign as a break in the prime story; what I really liked back when was the old book lairs as this fitted my needs very well; will pathfinder have any of this or will you guys be producing anything like this in the known future?

There was some information in the pathfinder advertisements, but will pathfinder have releases of new items, monsters, and perhaps skill and feats in each issue?

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

Pathfinder will have one big adventure that clocks in around 50 pages; the rest will be miscellaneous support material (including occasional side quests). For more on what that 50 pages might include, check out Saturday's entry on the Pathfinder blog.

This seemed like a question to bring here. I converted my remaining issues of Dungeon and Dragon into issues of Pathfinder, and went ahead and signed up for month-to-month delivery of Pathfinder beyond the two free issues I received, since choosing that option meant I would be considered a "Charter Subscriber," and thus receive a free copy of the guide to the new AP's setting. So here's my question: "Pathfinder Charter Subscriber" does not appear beside my messageboard icon, as it does for others. Does this mean that I bungled the sign-up process somehow and didn't actually order what I thought I did, or am I good to go?

It does now. May take some time. :)

Just wondering, will Pathfinder adventures be RPGA-sanctionable like the Dungeon ones are?

My question is essential I would much prefer subscribing and paying in advance for the items. Some of are married and can easily weather a one-hit fury storm from the wife, vice an additional once a month Exorcist moment.

Right now my conversion is for the first two months, make that once a month worth it and I'll keep it up and do the subscription thing.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber

I'm interested in setting up an international subscription for Pathfinder. The transition FAQ says that "...[i]nternational subscriptions will be mailed at the subscriber’s chosen shipping method..." but when I try to check out my shopping cart, it automatically adds $5 shipping, and doesn't tell me what method this is. Can you give me any more information about this, please?

Are there any plans to have a European subscription service like the one that was run for Dragon and Dungeon magazines through the Place for Games? If not, is there any way to "transition" these subscriptions to Pathfinder?

Finally, can you give me any idea what the cover price will be in the UK?

Thanks for your help.

Currently, the only international option we offer is through a UPS service called Mail Innovations. They bundle up a bunch of shipments headed for foreign countries, ship them there together, and then drop them into the local postal system. It should be faster than international parcel post (and cheaper too).

Callum wrote:

Nope. We enlisted the Place for Games to helped us bring down shipping costs for European subscriptions by doing something similar to what Mail Innovations does—but since Mail Innovations is available for Pathfinder, we'll be doing it ourselves.

As for the transition, European privacy laws make things a bit complex, in that TPFG can't actually tell us who our subscribers are. We decided the best thing to do is just have TPFG cut you a cheque, and if you want Pathfinder, you can order it directly from us.

Callum wrote:

That'll be up to the individual retailer—the only price printed on the book will be in US Dollars.

Thanks for the quick and thorough response, Vic! I'll mosey on over to the subscriptions area now...

That's extremely unlikely, as the RPGA is owned by Wizards of the Coast.

I've been wondering that myself. Since RPGA is owned by WotC and its unlikely pathfinder modules will be allowed, is Paizo considering some reward program of their own?

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

I have read that the subscription goes from month to month. Are you considering an option to purchase a subscription as we have in the past with Dungeon or Dragon? I like the month to month as it saves me some cash but I'd consider getting a year or two at a time if the savings were in line with the Dungeon/ Dragon savings (although I don't recall exactly what percentage you saved, I just remembered that I liked it!).

Also, do you have any idea how the $4 shipping rate compares with other shipping methods? I am certainly no shipping expert but that price seems a bit high to me. The subscriber rate saves you 30% which is great but 75% of your savings is eaten up by the cost to get the book to you. If that could be reduced somehow I am sure more people would be interested since those savings could go directly into more Pathfinders!

The new venture looks promising! I wish you the best of luck with it!

Done! No hesitation on my part.

Keep up the good work Paizo, my players are counting on you.

I'm looking at your offer and I am interested in Pathfinder. However, I think I'm missing a few Dungeons. Is it possible to purchase a the missing ones and then put the balance toward a Pathfinder subscription?

I'm curious. Say I don't really have any intention of using the adventures in this new production, what incentives would there be for me to purchase this product?

Cheliax

Great value, and $5 international shipping is great. Sold :)

I'm using the end of my Dragon and Dungeon subscriptions to start this Pathfinder, but honestly, my hopes aren't that high. I love Dragon and Dungeon because they are so far reaching and customizable. Every issue of Dungeon had something in it whether my group was 1st level or 10th. Ditto for Dragon. The main reason I love them though is because I pass time reading them at home. Contrary to what WotC believes, I don't get all my information for D&D online. I like sitting on the couch reading, even if I'll never use that content for my campaign.

That said, Pathfinder obviously looks like it'll be cool for what it is... an adventure a month book. And I'll be able to sit and read it at my leisure instead of having to get on my computer to get it. I do have one big question though. I was buying Dragon and Dungeon for well under $5/month. (I know the going rate now is $5.20/month.) I just checked and my Dungeon is 90-odd pages. And you're selling Pathfinder as 90-odd pages. Why does it cost three times as much (for subscribers) for the same amount of content?

Andoran

Rebecca Fitch wrote:

Pathfinder will have far fewer advertisements then Dragon or Dungeon (I think the quote I read in another thread was "2 pages of house ads". So, if you take that and the covers out, you end up with 90-92 pages of pure content.

My guess is that Dungeon and Dragon are only about 60-65 pages of content (although at the moment I can't count them to be sure), so yeah, together you're getting about a 1/3 more content than comes in Pathfinder. Pathfinder is also printed on heavier stock, as I understand it.

Now, I agree that the cost is more than I want to pay, but I've decided to give the first adventure path a try, and then decide what to do from that point. I'm hoping that along with the excellent content we've come to expect from Paizo over the years, that they'll throw in some good "treasure" for us subscribers.

I really hope you will reconsider and offer annual subscriptions. Not all of us have credit cards and when my transition issues are through your going to lose a custumer of five years now. I would think any added cost would be made up by the benefit of getting my money a year earlier.

Ditto Koch's statement. If the first few issues I get (Dungeon and Dragon leftovers) are good I'd love that annual option where you pay once rather than having a monthly bill. Especially if it comes with discounts like the old magazine's did.

As was said above, and in other places, if you live in the US you can easily buy refillable Visa cards from many outlets - not to mention Visa check and Debit cards offered by most banks. You buy the card and put $50.00 in it. When it starts to get low you can put however much additional money into that you want. With month-to-month you can cancel at any time. That seems more advantageous then sending Paizo $216.00 for a year's subscription only to find out you really do not want the product but are stuck with it for a year; or trying to find a way to cancel a year's subscription to get your remaining money back.

What a pity. Paying book + shipping makes the subscription very expensive for Europe.

It's only a dollar more than for US customers.

Given the weakness of the dollar (at least against the pound, not sure how it is against the euro) it's actually good value - and probably better than you'd get from a store.

I just want to send out a thanks to the Paizo team again, for fixing that subscription bug. Honestly I didn't even think it was a bug, so it was a pleasant surprise to come home to.

I have a question about how it will be shipped. My magazine are normally bent when I get them. Will Pathfinder be sent in a box or without one?

Hi,
Not much to add, but I wanted to see Charter Subscriber by my name. Hoo-ray!
I was not a buyer of either dungeon or dragon for many many years, I was soley sold on Pathfinder based on the crew at Paizo's class and professionalism in rolling it out so quickly on the heels of THE ANNOUCEMENT, and their willingness to answer (and re-answer, and in some case re-re-answer) questions.
I hope the individual adventures are modular enough to use as one shots, but I am sure I can adapt in anycase.

Good Luck Guys. I lift a Pint to you.

In order to keep the messaging as simple as possible (and to avoid having our programmer explode), you must select exactly one option on the transition page.

It will be shipped in a sturdy cardboard mailer. (If you've ever purchased a back issue, module, or other slim book from paizo.com, odds are good you've seen this mailer).

Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber

Just subscribed ! I'm in for the whole thing. Just can't wait to see all the good things you Paizo staff are preparing. :))

Regarding cardboard mailer, sturdy is the word. When I ordered SCAP back issues two-three years ago, the postman had to ring home because the pack wouldn't enter mailbox and he couldn't fold it to put it through the slit.

Word for Lisa : as your skills to create a company per minute are legendary worldwide ;o)) how about making a new magazine once the dust has settled ? Did you assess feasability ? What would be the cons ?

Guillaume.

OOOh I'm excited! This sounds cool. I have sighned up for the monthly thingumyjig but at the end it asked me for a promotional code?
Do I need a promotional code for the free book (Players handbook I think it was ?) Or will that get dispatched automatically?

I was wondering - what is the plan for international subscriptions to Pathfinder? I live in South Africa and am considering getting these, although the price is quite steep for me as it is, and a more expensive international rate would rather cripple my wallet.

I'm in the UK.
From what I gather, if you live in the U.S.A delivery is $4. For those outside U.S it's $5, no other options. I dont see any where that says it's different if you live in Canada, Europe, Outer Mongolia. It's still the set $5 per book (per month)

No worries—if you signed up for the ongoing month-to-month sub, you'll get the Player's Guide automatically.

The promotional code is part of the standard checkout process, although it's been a while since we launched a promotion that required a code.

Am I assuming correctly that this will be emailed to us? If so I assume we'll recieve this much earlier than the actual book.

Shame really that it couldn't start in July, that way we could have two series of adventures per year instead of it lapsing over to January. Silly I know but it's just a little tidyness fixation I have..

That would be bad. Many people wouldn't take kindly to having gigantic files show up in their mailbox—and many people would have such an e-mail killed en route before it got to them.

Instead, we'll be sending you an e-mail letting you know that you can come download it at your convenience.

Hehe, good point!
Thanks again.

Okay,

The magazines are dead. So, can I look forward to purchasing advertising with pathfinder? what would it cost to say get a full page color, in october and november?

Pathfinder is a book product and will not contain anything more than a few house ads in the back.

If you have questions about the future of hobby advertising, shoot me an email at josh@paizo.com.

Okay,

I just love using the gamemastery map packs, so it wouldn't hurt to
include a list of "tiles" used to map out a scene...

alternately, I will need full scale maps for the mini's.
*******************************************************
why?

anybody try to make maps for the "forge of furry" adventure?
it's a nightmare, it's so huge. I just hope that adventures
that feature little map diagrams in their pages also start including

FULL SCALE MAPS- or I will owe dwarven forge/crystal castle a few mints...

Just wanted to on record saying theat I am really excited about Pathfinder.

I play in a long term game and, from time to time, I GM with a different group of friends. When I GM I generally only allow official WoTC D&D material, no more! I am so excited about Pathfinder and Gamemastery that any content they provide will full well be allowed in the games I run! Is it time yet? Ok, just a little longer…….

Is it time yet?
I smite thee clock for advancing too slowly!

Is it time yet?

I want to sign up, but am short on funds. Is there a way to start with what my Dragon subscription balance? Or would I have to wait until the magazine runs out 1st?

If you have leftover issues on Dragon or Dungeon, just head on over to the Transition page to convert them to Pathfinder!

hello,

I was wondering, will this adventure be a 3.5 edition or will it be different?

thanks
