Evil schemes are afoot in Cauldron, a metropolis of merchants built into the caldera of a long-dormant volcano. To foil the agenda of evil cultists, your band of adventurers must brave haunted jungle ruins, slay mighty dragons, and bind themselves to a layer of the infinite Abyss. Will their swords and spells be enough to save the Shackled City?

Originally published as 11 linked adventures in the award-winning Dungeon magazine, the Shackled City Adventure Path is the most ambitious official Dungeons & Dragons campaign ever created. Now, for the first time ever, everything you need to play the campaign has been compiled into a deluxe 416-page full-color hardcover that also includes an 8-panel fully detailed map of the City of Cauldron, a 12-page full-color map and illustration booklet, and a brand new Shackled City adventure written by fan favorite author Christopher Perkins.

Specs: 416-page, full-color hardbound book; 8 3/8" x 10 7/8"

Check out Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 of our design diary from Erik Mona, James Jacobs and Sean Glenn. You can also download a preview of the introduction, including the table of contents, and another of a statblock page showing NPC progression throughout the campaign. The player handouts are now available for download, too. Or join the buzz on our Shackled City messageboard forum.

Maybe it should be mentioned that Shackled City is for D&D3.x. I guess most people are fully aware of this, but maybe not everyone.

Well, to be fair the name of the product is "Dungeons & Dragons: The Shackled City Adventure Path Hardcover".

I suppose it's possible (albeit unlikely) that someone might think it's for a different edition of D&D.

Beyond being worth it's weight in gold, I wouldnt mind owning an additional PDF copy of this (my hardcover is in a box deep within the nether reaches of my closet).

Has that boat sailed never to return?

Sadly, it sailed when WotC rescinded the license allowing to Paizo to sell the PDF version of this and many of the Dungeon & Dragon magazines.

Actually, both the Shackled City and Age of Worms are available from Paizo in PDF form in their entirety. It's only Savage Tide that you can't get via the PDFs here.

The magazine issues are available. I don't know if there was ever a PDF version of the hardcover book, though.

I would want the updated PDF of the hardcover. I know about the WotC rescinded nonsense from way back.

If the magazines are still available via PDF, would it be possible to see the HC as a PDF as well ?

That was not part of the original license to do the collected Shackled City hardcover, if I'm remembering things correctly.

Ah, this didn't even cross my mind. :|

Thanks for the explanation. :)

Ugh. So there is no place to get digital copies of this book's artwork? :-( What a bummer.

The original magazine PDFs have *most* of the artwork that's in the hardcover.

Thank, Vic! Checking out my collection.

Just one of many minor frustrations caused by the End of 3rd Edition Era. It's like "no Shackled City pdf or Age of Worms/Savage Tide compilation" in one hand balanced against "Pathfinder" in the other. All in all, I still feel I got the better end of the deal, but this stuff pops up from time to time.

For what it's worth (spoiler: it's not worth much!), I think that even if Wizards had renewed our license, you probably wouldn't have seen those compilations. Even though the Shackled City hardcover sold very, very well for us, they just never seemed terribly interested in letting us do more. Remember, the last Age of Worms issue had already been off the newsstands for over a year—and the first issue for over two years—by the time the license ended. We'd been asking for months before the decision not to renew was made.

I would love to see this put into a PDF format, so I can use it for running a game on line. :3

Not gonna happen, since the deal with WotC expired Paizo can't touch the Dungeon-era APs - all they can do is sell whatever stock and PDFs remain.

Yes I figured as much but it was hoping for it. I still have the dungeons and the hardback.
