A thread in which to pose all questions zombie to Mr. Aberzombie. Dear Mr. Aberzombie, My girlfriend has always been a touchy feely kinda person, but recently her "love bites" have actually resulted in a loss of flesh. Could she be a zombie? Also, if she is a zombie, what is the best way to disinfect these bite wounds? Thanks! So during Paizocon 2009, one of my characters was given the title of Abra Duchess. The form I received did not spell out any specific benefit (full text in the items found section of the form states "This certificate establishes that the character _______ is a full noble of the right and honorable Empire of Taldor, having gained the noble title of Abra Duke.") Aside from not having to make a bluff check if she needs to "pose" as nobility, is there any benefit whatsoever or is it just flavor? This has to do with the faction missions: Spoiler:
Andoran mission requires 3 Diplomacy checks. If there are multiple Andoran members, would they EACH have to make three successes or could one member attempt with the others aiding? This also would apply to Osirion players as well for their mission in the camp. Also Andoran, with the amount of time, Long Term Care could be relatively a long term endeavor. I am assuming he is at least 3rd level (based off his HP), but it does not give his level anywhere. As LTC is level dependent, this could take up to 5 days (if he is 3rd with 8 hour of rest) or just over a day (if he is 5th level or higher with full bed rest). Any info on his actual level?
So I recently stumbled on Kat Richardson's Greywalker series, followed by Rob Thurman's Call Leandros series, and am wondering if anyone has any other suggestions in this genre. I don't know if this is something that could be posted, or if it would require more effort than it would be worth, but I just caught myself wondering about locked threads. Now I completely understand the need to lock down threads, especially when they are on potentially explosive topics, so get me me wrong there. It's the stats that I am wondering about. Specifically, what is the quickest a thread has been locked down, both in time from initial post and in the post count? And on the flip side what was the longest a thread went on before it got locked down, again both in time and post count? More just random curiosity than anything else, and I am not looking for what threads they were, just the stats involved in the locking of the threads. If this is possible data to share, great and thanks! If not, no biggie and thanks for at least reading the post. So after having just shelled out almost the total cost of attending PaizoCon on work done on my car, it has become clear I will not be able to attend this year. That said, this thread is for the folks who are not able to attend 2011 and what they would like to see pop up on the boards or elsewhere. Personally, I have the following requests. 1. Someone PLEASE record and post the post banquet quiz (Mr. Mona, I am looking at you and you new recording device that James mentioned). They are always good for a laugh. 2. Updates on what is going on, regardless of the time of day or night. 3. Smoking/drinking crew (you know who you are), smoke and drink one for me. I WILL see y'all next year, come hell or high water. OK, so one of the groups I am running through this AP is a group of kids (10-13 years of age). They are currently in Skinsaw and were "trapped" in Foxglove Manor by the Carrionswarms. Every time they looked outside, I described "thousands of sickly looking crows sitting on every surface outside the manor and they are all looking at YOU". It is a pretty big group (8 PCs), but they were pretty terrified of the birds. The first time a couple of them went out, I had the carrionswarms not take to the air until they were about 30' from the house. So one session later and a night spent in the house, the party had three members infected with ghoul fever from the ghouls downstairs and two infected with the phage (one was also infected with ghoul fever). They decided they definitely needed to get out of the house and back to town to get cured. Their solution? They took the building supplies form the room in the attic (lumber and rope was listed and I decided there would also be basic tools and nails ... the room was partially rebuilt after all) and build a "mobile hut" big enough for three medium PCs to get under and slowly make their way out of the house and through the birds. The entire concept caught me a bit off guard, but it worked out ... kinda. They did end up having to face off against the swarms, but the cover they built gave time for a couple AoE spells to be cast and the remainder of the party who stayed behind went to town with missile attacks. Anyone else find their players using what in the text seemed like no more than part of a room description to come up with something unexpected? I know there were open gaming areas at Paizocon 2009, will these areas be increased for Paizocon 2010? Additionally, anyone already planning to run any open gaming stuff during their down time? I am toying with the idea of running something if I can put it together in time. Would probably be low level (read 1st level) ... we'll see what happens. Will Paizocon 2010 run with the same policy for video as last year? I am hoping to capture as many of the seminars as possible this upcoming year and tape them. Also, would you consider allowing taping of the banquet this year? The quiz last year was classic and I would love for those who are not able to attend to be able to at least witness that aspect of it. I would be sure to remove any of the Advanced Players' Guide Preview material if needed (though I'm sure folks would love to see that footage as well even after the release of the APG). Lastly, if I can get my hands on some not too expensive cameras, I may be looking for some volunteers to help collect footage. I'll have a better idea closer to the date if I can wrangle this, so if you are interested and willing, keep your eyes out on the boards for a posting for volunteers. Until that post, keep your fingers crossed I can swing it by June. OK, so here's the question. If a sorcerer is killed and reincarnated, does the bloodline remain or is the sorcerer separated from their bloodline? The underlying question is the bloodline a physical thing (i.e. - it is literally "in your blood") or is it a spiritual thing (i.e. - it is part of your essence and therefore stays with you regardless of the body you inhabit)? While the reincarnate spell does state that class abilities are retained, the description of the bloodline puts this particular aspect of the class into a bit of a gray area in some instances. For example, I could see bloodlines like Infernal, where a distant relation signed a contract with a devil, to apply more on a spiritual level than a direct blood connection. For others, where there was a distant physical relative (dragon, aberration, etc), it seems to be a bit more fuzzy (where the connection would be a direct physical link to the source). Of course, any GM can run the rules as per their own interpretation, but I was just curious as to an official stance and/or what others on the boards take on it is ... OK, so the text reads: Quote:
So, if a cleric uses this in combat, both friend and foe within 30' of the cleric get healed (as long as the foe is living, of course), yes? Hey there Paizo folks, I have a question re: which license I should use. The concept is a true web based generator (no download app, no excel spread) with the ability to download the finished character as a .pdf, .txt or whatever other format users want. I am planning on putting this up for free use, on a non commercial site. What license should I develop this under? Also, is the entire contents of the PFRPG core book covered by the open license? Thanks! OK folks, I know there are a lot of character generators out there, but most are either downloadable software or excel based, which are not ideal solutions for many folks. So my question to you all is this: how many folks are interested in a truly web based generator? That is, a site that will allow you to generate a character and download the finished character as a PDF or other format. Aside from PDF, is there any other format that folks would be interested in? Any preference re: storage of the finished character information? I figured I would bounce the question out there before I jumped in (it is no small project, after all). Also, for the Paizo folks, as this would be offered up as a free service, which license should I run with? And is everything within the PFRPG core book valid for use in a character generator? Inspired by Mairkurion's comment in this thread, I figured a thread which focused solely on listing links for the video footage filmed at Paizocon 2009 would be a good thing. That said, here it is. If you have additional footage that you have up somewhere, this would be a good place to post the link (just to make it easier for folks to find). The links so far ... How to Break Into Print in Kobold Quarterly Patronage Projects from Open Design Designing Dungeons with Monte Cook Game Design Self-Editing Workshop by Sue Cook Secrets of the Publishing Industry - Your Questions Answered Here's to looking forward to next year and even more video goodness. Mmmm, tasty! Zuxius and his roommates (sorry guys, I can't remember your handles!) were so great to host so many after hours gatherings, I felt these guys deserved a thread of their own. It really was a center of the con experience for me and I know many others had a great time within those walls as well. Thanks guys! The beer, food, conversations, movies and everything else was fantastic. You all made a great point of connection between gamers outside the gaming circles of the con itself and made for a definitely fulfilling experience. As to the experiences, I just saw one of the commercials Shirak23 had said he worked on. It was the one with the owls. One question? I know you said you did the furniture, did you do the lamp as well (the one that gets knocked)? Solid stuff there, man. Do you have a link to any other animation you've done? Ted, Shirak, Lou, Sean and all the others I met there (and those I met outside those walls for that matter), shoot me an e-mail sometime (my handle name @gmail.com). Would enjoy keeping up with y'all until we meet in Seattle next year. Gary, Josh, and everyone else who is pulling PaizoCon together, I know this entire thing has been a bear to deal with in a major way at times, but I do have one request. Would it be possible to update each game to clearly state whether participants need to bring their own characters or if pre-made characters will be provided? There is a bit of confusion as the terminology seems to vary from event to event and is missing in at least one instance. I know no one who will be there wants to show up to a game unprepared and this would help out on that front a good bit. So I got my copy of this yesterday and started reading through it today. As is the custom I have gotten into, I always read the various goodies at the end first. It was during the description of the food and drink of the Katapesh Marketplace that I found something that just intrigued the heck out of me. Thal and khat. In doing some searching online, I can find no bread referred to as khat ... I did find the plant khat that is chewed for it's stimulant properties in East Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, but that ain't a mildly spicy bread ;) For thal, I found mention of a dessert, almost fudge like, but no mention of a rice/olive/lime combination. So the question is this: are these just creations of the author(s) or are they based on actual foods? If so, what foods? If not, I'm gonna make it anyway! I figured I would give creating these things a shot in the next day or two ... baking bread has kind of become a hobby over the last 6 months, I have the olives and rice and I can get some limes and any spices I don't have on hand (I do have some ideas for the spices to be used, following the traditional Northern Africa / Middle Eastern track this AP seems to follow for inspiration). If these creations are edible, I'll post up the recipes (such as they will be). If they are not edible, it's been nice knowing y'all. ;) Just an FYI for folks who are planning on staying at the Coast Bellevue Hotel for Paizocon. If anyone who is going is looking at saving a little cash and is definitely going to be at the event, you can pay in advance for the room. Pros: you save about $125 for the full event duration compared to the guaranteed rate set aside for Paizocon (or you can get a townhouse style for about the same as a regular room at the convention rate). Cons: you pay at the time the reservation is made and the reservation is non-refundable, so if there is any chance you would have to cancel coming to the event, this would not be an option for you. Thought I would throw this out there for those of you (like me) who will definitely be there and are looking to save whatever amount they can in traveling across the country for the Con ... or have some extra spending cash ;). |
