I think I see what was going on, this was set up to ship with my next subscription order, to save on shipping... but, that next order was not going to ship till Dec. 2013.

That makes sense, but, I'd like to get it earlier, soooo - I went in and ordered subscriptions that will ship sooner. (like I said, fall time = RPG time! hehe.)

Anyway, could you make sure that the items from order 2581328 come in the next shipment, and not the one in December?

thank you for checking on that!

Sincerely,

Wade "zWolf" Hone.

Justin, I know this is from WAY back in the day.. but in the fall, my work slows down, and I'm able to focus more on my RPG hobby. so now, I'm wondering, did this ever ship out a second time? I don't think I have ever received that book. are you guy's showing that it has shipped twice now?

thanks,

Regarding ORDER # 2581328

I have not received this yet, It states that the status is "Shipped via Standard Postal Delivery" and I'm trying the 'track this package' link, but I'm not getting easy to understand results.

can you help me figure out what the status of this order is?

Thank you.

Wade.

This is what it says when I click the 'tracking' link:

"Tracking information for this piece is unavailable at this time. Tracking may take 24-48 hours after your mail piece has shipped. Please check back at a later time for additional information.

If tracking is unavailable after 3 days, please contact your shipper."

I was very exited about Paizocon, unfortunately, events have conspired to not allow me to attend. :-(

My grand mother passed away and we had her funeral a 2 weekends ago. I work for a family owned business, and we have really been putting in the extra time during the funeral arrangements, and now it seems we are playing 'catch up'.

I'm the primary salesperson for the company, and really can't leave to take a break for paizo con.

I'd been hoping that I could right up till now, but, alas, it's not in the dice.

So, I'm wondering if there is anyway that I could get 'store credit' and turn back in my paizo Con Ticket, and Paizo con banquet ticket?

I understand if it is too late, but, if it's not too late, I'd really appreciate the refund - store credit would be perfect.

Thank you for considering it.

hello,

I think I'm going to pass on the 'epic' book coming out. So,here is my request to:

Please cancel my Pathfinder Role Playing Game Subscription.

Please leave my other two subscriptions active (pawns and modules.)

Thank You,

I'm sure I'll be back eventually.

For the record, WotC did eventually release a VTT product

Hmmm, I recall a 'beta' that lots and lot's of people were able to get into... I wasn't... but, by that time I really wasn't trying very hard either, and I'd let my sub go... I have no reason to doubt you, but.. I really was keeping my eye on that one, but never saw anything actually get released or announced... I just must have missed it.

Truth be told, by that time, the damage had already been done. I was quite frothy, (mostly cause I was so exited about the tool, and they seriously kept every one thinking they were releasing it with the books, even 10 to 14 days after the books were out, they kept silent and 'finally' started with the 'in a few months' line... T'was very frustrating. sigh.)

Holy cow! that's horrifying! I never knew. terribly sad to hear. and you bet, that would mess up any team for ever after.

soo, I'll just wait and 'eventually' I'm sure I'll get a chance. :-)

Currently it's one player per browser window. You can open two separate windows into the same scene and sign in as different players, we do that for testing. I don't know how well that would work in an actual game, sharing keyboard etc.

Each player can control multiple tokens, and there can be multiple GMs active simultaneously, though that gets a bit weird during combat.

I use a similar set up at my home game, (other VTT of course, seeing as how you won't let me use your's... yet. :-P )

How I got around the 'keyboard / mouse' thing was 3 Wireless Mice and a wireless Keyboard that can get passed about. The players all use those input devices on one 'account' to move their tokens, on the map etc.

I am logged into my 'GM' account and run the game, the 'player account' is the client that displays up on the big TV.

It works pretty good. and would allow for a remote player to participate in the game as well.

Wireless fixes everything... (I exaggerate, but it certainly works for our needs.)

I just figured I'd ask - this seems to be something that is offered fairly regularly these days, and I figured it couldn't hurt to see if it's something that you'd considered doing.

thanks for humoring me.

The only way to pay to get in is to invent a time machine and get yourself to be an attendee of Paizocon 2012, which is the group that they're using for high volume testing.

Heh, I tried the 'Next' best thing and purchased Paizocon Tickets for THIS year, with the hope that I'd be on the list for testing... but that was a long time ago, and so far, nothing.

Sorry for my inpatients, I have to admit, though it is 'unfair' a bit of my 'rage' from the way Wizards handled their VTT gets shuffled over to this product - (remember how they used it to sell books, even listing it on page 11 as a tool to use, then never coming out with anything?)

So, ya, my Brain knows that Paizo had nothing to do with that Wotc failed VTT endeavor. But there's some 'weird' emotion that I have to deal with that I know is 'residual' backlash from feeling disenfranchised by Wotc.

I mostly just check in every few months to see if there's any progress towards opening a beta... and every few months it seems that the news is, 'coming soon'. :-P

Thanks Dowevbo!

I really appreciate it when other GM's Share what they do for their games. I'm JUST about to the part where my players will find that journal, (maybe,) and so, this comes at a perfect time. I'm printing it out now and putting it in my book.

---

Victor, just use your imagination to come up with 'how' he can hear, I thought of 2 or three ways while typing this. and yes, you can all ways just blame it on wizards.

WIZARDS DID IT!

(I should make a T-shirt...)

As for the 'when what happened' stuff, the journal starts right out with the explanation:

"I have lost all sense of time..."

but, in truth, it looks like it says that the journal is dated from when he was allowed to write, not from when he was incarcerated.

Maybe it was a fix?

Either way, your comments come across as 'nit picky', for some free 'content' that a GM made for his game, and figured he'd offer it to others. He's not getting 'paid' to make it, so he's not held to any standards.

Honestly, if you had those concerns, why not put your efforts into making a version yourself that we could use for free too? I'd like that very much! options are sweet!

of course I'm just joshin about getting in the beta, I'm sure there are lot's of folks like me just dying for a spot in it - but seriously had I known that a ticket to Paizo Con would have got me a spot - well, I'd definitely have had one. :-)

Also there is a sandboxgame without any PvP, it's called 2nd life and is very successful.

@MicMan hehe, 2nd life? really? I have played 2nd life - but could think of at least a half dozen better matches of sandboxgame without any PvP to draw comparisons to... 2nd life would be at the bottom of that list. it 'is' run on a computer... it 'does' have other people in it...

Either way, I'm not arguing against PvP - though I definitely think that the game would be more financially viable in the market place if it was offered with the option to not allow other players to damage you non consensually. That way I'd get at least half a dozen RLF's to join up that won't otherwise - and have a bunch more online friends that would play that won't touch it as it stands now. (forced PvP.)

that's my only point - more people, hopefully = more $$'s, and for me, it = better social integration with the groups that I like to play with... Guess I hang with CareBears.

Like I said before, I'm certainly going to play - if I get in a strong guild, I'll probably stay... as long as the micro's don't get crazy out of hand to stay viable.

I wish them luck! I'm just surprised that they went this route as it's so obviously rare as a success (EvE being the one exception that I can think of.) I sort of envy the moxy they must have, and look forward to watching it grow - I do feel bad that it will most likely always be a small team of Dev's so, content will have to trickle out instead of flow fire hydrant style like it might with a bigger budget that a more 'mass appeal' option might bring to the game. se' la vi.

The Exchange

I have looked for a message board dedicated to the VTT that Paizo announced at their last Paizo Con, but I see nothing... I did a search in the forums, but most of the posts were from 2010 or earlier...

isn't there a forum dedicated to it? is there a thread at least where folks are talking about it?

is it even a thing? or, did the MMO take up all the time of the Devs formerly dedicated to the VTT?

thanks for any info.. once upon a time I was really stoked about this, but I can't seem to find any information on it.

One of the most important impacts is that your character will be often at risk of encountering other characters in combat, "Player vs. Player".

"Often At Risk" is a key phrase. You will not always be at such risk.

Though I'm 'down' with the whole hard core PvP vibe, I know that means that you instantly make this a very 'niche' game that has zero chance of that 'mass' appeal. That's cool and all, as long as there is a never ending source of funds available from a benefactor that has no need to recoup his investment. if that's not the case, I fear for the financial viability of an MMO that is targeted at such a niche target.

seeing as I'll be one of the 'targeted' members of this community, my fear is that the game will quickly take the 'free to play / micro transaction' route and fast start to drain the pockets of the few players that really enjoy the hard core pvp experience.

I'll wish you luck, and if you really do have that generous supplier of funds, and this actually takes off with out a 'care bare / mass appeal' version that helps it to actually make money, I look forward to seeing you in game!

of the 8 friends that I'd most likely to get to play an MMO with me, only 1 of them would even consider ever playing on a PvP server again where the possibility of being killed by another player exists. And I doubt he'd 'really' get the game - I just think he likes the theory of hard core pvp, not the reality. sigh.

Good luck though! it sounds fantastic!

I might not be understanding the price system... but at the top of the page, it has a bunch of prices, and their discount's listed... one in particular stands out, and I think it might be an error:

Preorder Huge Booster: $158.32 $24.99

the $158.32 is crossed out of course, with $24.99 being the actual price.

but that super huge discount doesn't fit in line with all the other listed prices, and I'm guessing that it's miss printed somehow.

If not, my suggestion would be to make it some how easier for end users to see what the great deals are when they visit your site.

Though it is a group of 6, and I did like the previously stated comment that mentioned using a 15 point buy to help 'balance' the party - in the future I highly doubt that I'll have a 15 point buy on the table as an option. I don't wana stir the pot per say... but, I do want to get my thoughts out there in the mix... I actually dropped the 1st print run in my cart and just about pulled the trigger on this. However, at the last possible second, I changed my mind and bought that iPad 2 I have had my eye on forever.

One of the things that brought me so close, was the fact that I figured that this was close to a 'collectors' item. It seemed like the print run was small enough, and the demand high enough that I'd have a good chance of my 100$ purchase actually increase in value.

Rare though that may be with RPG books, it's not entirely impossible, ya know?

Anyway, I didn't do it, so I really don't have a pony in the race as they say... but - on the flip side, a 2nd 'unlimited' printing, sort of defeats the purpose of buying a 'collectors' limited edition Print run of a book.

I recognize that it's not Paizo publishing this... but I will say, that this '2nd release' DOES make me more hesitant to 'pull the trigger' based on a books possible collect-ability based on a small '1 time only' print run that sounds like was originally advertised.

n just to put it out there, I recognize that with a new cover, a new title 'unlimited' etc. that it's not 'exactly' THE 'collectible' 1st edition run... So legally they are off the hook and all. But c'mon spirit of the law was definitely breached here just a bit... or at least badly bent don't cha think?

and FINALY word... at least now, I'll be able to shell out for it in the future and I agree with a previous poster, the Cover IS much nicer than the original. Soooo, bottom line, Business's do things to make money... and this most likely will get mine.

I guess I'll just file this under the "Wade, Stop using the 'but this comic might be worth hundreds of dollars some day' rationalization technique" that I should have grown out of when I was 12 to justify buying my RPG Toys. :-P

The Exchange

Hey! This WAS AWESOME!

Thanks so much for putting this together, I really appreciate it. My players are exactly the kind that want to know All about the items that they find...

I'm STILL working on something similar for the books that they are supposed to deliver for the professor heh. Something like this would have been extremely helpful!

Thanks again!!

I had my characters do a 15 point point buy, or they could chose to do a standard roll 4 D6 drop the lowest D and assign the stats as they liked, (but if they chose that route, they had to keep what the rolled, no going back to point buy if they didn't like that 6 in Str. :-P )

Anyway, I have searched the Adventure path, and can't seem to find a place where it recommends a Character build system and I was surprised that it wasn't right at the start in the forward or something...

I also have varying opinions at the table from the players some who want 'more points' and some 'the roll player' who like it just the way it is.

of course, I have full Veto power, but I kind of wanted to settle it by saying 'it's designed for... '

but alas, I can't find a 'character design document' other than to use the medium advancement XP track.

I'm I missing something? is it in there? or is this just something that the designers figured a GM would just know because he'd ran all the AP's before? (this happens to be my first Experience with Pathfinder... I'm loving it so far!)

Thanks,

Whew! this post title freaked me out!!! I REALLY don't want to start buying all new books - a '2.0' thing would totally demoralize me.

The Exchange

A. I see it on the Character sheet, but other than:

'Base Attack Bonus (BAB): Each creature has a base attack bonus and it represents its skill in combat. As a character gains levels or Hit Dice, his base attack bonus improves. When a creature's base attack bonus reaches +6, +11, or +16, he receives an additional attack in combat when he takes a full-attack action (which is one type of full-round action...)

I don't seem to find information on how to establish what it is... it kinda sounds like it's just your level.. but why have a number that is the same as your level? why not just say 'your level'?

anyway, the back of the book refers me to the page with that blurb on it, in Character Creation I don't find anything... but yet it is so essential, I feel that I am totally missing some big section on 'base attack bonus' or something.

Can some one help me a bit with some more detail? perhaps a page number that has more info on it or something?

and most of all, how do I determine what it is, and how to advance it as the characters level like, "add one point per level? 3 points? or what?

Thank you,

Heh, it's interesting that you should post here where your most likely to get opposed opinions to yours. I suppose it is a good thing, as you can see that perhaps it's not always the best policy to 'Assimilate' to the norm, and to see that there are several people that feel strongly about it.

I LOVE interesting names, I doubt I'll name my children anything outlandish, I fully support those who name their children unique names.

I really am curious as to what country that you are from that has such power to tell a father that what he can or can not name his child. (-insert edit - I just read your post, Serbia, I in no way mean to insult your country of origin... it's just surprising to me - end edit) That sounds very restricting to me. I can hardly imagine standing quietly by for that breach of personal freedom.

Anyone know of what countries might impose such restrictions? Arragorn isn't even very outlandish!

And what about cultural expression? To some, Lakeisha might sound outlandish, and to others the most beautiful name in the world... what government agent has the right to deny a parent the right of naming.

That said, I wonder how I would feel about extreams to my stated stance... what if a father was a real dirt bag and wanted to name his son or daughter a curse word... I wonder if my OWN country has some rule preventing such a thing... interesting rabbit hole.

But Still, to have A LAW enacted mandating control over the naming of children... parish the thought.

...I talked to Cosmo and the others here at the con. They said that the left-over tickets (those that aren't picked) up are basically going to be first come first serve at the beginning of the events. Sadly, they can no longer transfer the tickets among people, so this isn't really an option.

Thank you for trying to look into it,

Ben,

I figured it was something like that, I was actually on the Paizo forums as this email arrived, and I have left 2 messages with cust service, ( I'm guessing they are all at the con heh,) I 'am' still hoping that I can wrangle a 'store credit' refund out of them.

I hope that your able to get in!!

Thank you,

Wade L. Hone

To purchase a badge at the door, go to the convention store *first* and not the registration table line. The store has the registers and will be able to get you the ticket.

I sent some one on an Hour long drive across town based on this heh, please update if the tickets are sold out or something.

thx.

Was there anyway that I could get in on this? I thought that I made a post on here... but... It doesn't seem to be here now... and I have made and left messages at the cust support #, but I'm guessing every one is at the con... I had some people that would be happy to buy the tickets from me.. but.. a refund would be dandy too... I'm already so down that I can't go... and I'd be super happy even if it were store credit.

thanks for considering it.

3 Day pass, and Banquette...

I've set up a signed copy to ship out to you asap. Its going UPS ground so you will be able to track it once it ships.

Please keep the unsigned 4th printing by way of apology for our error!

Wow, my 'Loyalty to Paizo publishing' stat just went up like 4 points here - this kind of response is EPIC and makes me want to spend more money with you just to show you all what a good business model this 'superior customer support' is.

Seriously, I'm going to the store to order stuff that I have been 'holding off on' just because of this thread.

I know this is completely pointless, but there is a mystical, magical way to get your books instantly, avoid delays and hassles, save loads of money, AND let Paizo make more money per book...

Please tell me how I can get my book instantly and save loads of money.

EDIT: And if you referring/suggesting to get the PDF, I'll pass on that. I've never enjoyed having a 200+ page PDF to scroll through.

I'm pretty sure that he means the subscription plans that Paizo has available, in most cases, the discounts offered, make the difference on the shipping that you are charged, so you end up not paying more than you would retail, AND you get the item as fast as possible.

They toss in the PDF (which is nice for those of us who like em,) And like the 3D said, more than likely Paizo makes a tich more, as they don't have to give the bookstore a cut.

Win Win Win... (and a loss for the book store I suppose...)

This Adventure path, has really got a bunch of my friends who were never really interested in Playing Pathfinder before, exited to play.

This particular Offering, with it's obvious homage to LoveCraft, has wet the whistle of at least one Gnarled Gamer Group and I suspect manny.

Thanks for putting it together!
