Heheh. You ain't seen nothing yet.

On a more serious note, I spent most of the past week sitting in my wife's hospital room as she tried to recover from surgery. (She's fine and at home now.) That made it really hard to focus on the threads woven through our longer products, but BPs are short enough I had no trouble going through playtest notes and polishing up drafts in single sittings.

Hey Xorial! Aaargh, ye flatter me matey!

All this piratey goodness means lot of fantastic refinements to ship rules and "life on a ship" texture. It is a veritable goldmine.

I tend to only periodically visit the various forums out there as I spend a lot of time monitoring ours over at Planewalker. Part of it is that I can get lost down rabbit holes for hours if I do.

Since for once I am running something as is, and doing so at almost the same time as many other DMs, you'll see me in the Skull and Shackles threads a lot until it wraps. Possibly afterwards as well if anyone is interested what happens when they become terrors of the space-ways.

I'm guessing Paladin or Cleric. Two years as a full-time missionary kinda cements it, and obeying the law is one of our tenets. Wizard or Alchemist is also a possibility, as I'm studying Food Science. Arcane disciple no one has heard of, check. Lots of numbers and symbols from other disciples that all get mushed together into a strange concoction of chemicals that someone, yay for interns, needs to try eating: check.

Overall(25 feels a little ridiculous for me, but hey, I've always wanted to be awesome.)
Str: 10(Not terribly strong, but enough to carry a backpack for multi-week hikes.)
Con: 16(I endure baby!)
Dex: 8(Terribly clumsy)
Int: 16(Physics, O-chem, and calc can all die in a fire, curse you for being so useful)
Wis: 16(Apparently this is what the divine uses.)
Cha: 14(I hear I'm good with people. That's what people tell me.)

Cleric 3/Wizard 3/Mystic Theurge 1 (Religion and science don't mix? Nethys hear my call! I'm going to hunt down ever miserable english/philosophy major and beat them, with truth!)

*Edit I'm guess race would be human. I'm just kinda ordinary like that, and it suits me fine, as does the extra feat. Other races, probably dwarf, so move the Con up and Cha down. Sounds about right actually. You may be stronger, you may be faster, but I'll last longer and don't slow down for anything.

Well, I think some people like to say "Dotted" in order to express their appreciation for the thread, and to let the OP know that they like it.

Thanks a ton you guys. Just ran a 4 hour campaign without a hitch! I didn't include any of the food stuff or anything, I'm just usually concerned with playing games the "right way". I guess if everyone has fun, it doesn't matter.

In my writeup to the school, I'll include the concept of roleplaying being an educational method in itself.

Children who engage in pretend play tend to develop stronger personalities as they mature into adults.

On a separate subject, and in response to nobodyshome, I now expect the behavior I described above from kids, but I did play a couple sessions with a kid about 9 who had me in stitches. He roleplayed better than some 20-somethings I have known. We were questioning a resistant prisoner and having little luck. His dwarf hollers "Let's just kill him. And then go drink." It was a simple dwarf archetype, but at his age, and the swagger with which he spoke it, it impressed me.

I'm not fussy either way, but I tend to have a lower spending threshhold on PDF products (generally $7-10 for non-Paizo and $10-12 for Paizo), mostly to mitigate impulse buying.

What I prefer is to have the print/pdf combo option for a number of reasons:
I can hand the book around at the table when a player has a question, or is curious about an idea they want to explore. While I still have my own copy open on my lappy, desktop or e-reader.
Sometimes I want to cross-reference books (when I'm writing adventures), and it's easier to have physical books open while alt+tabbing.
Sometimes I want to have the information available to copy+paste rather than rewriting the information all over again.

Hope that helps.

I'm (slowly) working on getting the OpenSource stuff going. Anyone should be able to view all the code now at:

https://sourceforge.net/p/combatmanagerpf/

If you want to add bug tracking tickes to the system (which would be awesome), tru:

https://sourceforge.net/p/combatmanagerpf/tickets/

I haven't used the ticketing system yet, so I don't know what to expect. Put your bugs and feature requests in here so I've got a way to track them and have the other people in the system see them.

I haven't been as responsive as I used to be and I can't promise I will be in the future, but I hope to keep this project vital with the help of the community.

Grand Lodge (Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber)

Actually that is the main reason I picked it up.

I'll be running the AP as is until 15th level and then the Arcane will show up. Thanks to Paizo we have details of the crystal sphere in Distant Worlds which should make things simpler.

At that point it goes off into space and eventually will bring our pirates into conflict with the Elven Imperial Navy and adventuring on and around the Rock of Bral.

We have already tested the improved ship rules in our established SJ game and they work beautifully!

The Obsidian Portal for our S&S Game

The Established SJ Game is there as well

This AP is a godsend for SJ DMs, just got the second installment and it's just as chock full of groovy as the first one was. Whoever thought of putting it out right after Distant Worlds was quite a canny sod, well done!

But seriously, I can't think of a reason you'd need to appraise while in danger or distracted. Unless you're one of those roguish types who uses the chaos of combat to pinch valuables while everyone else fights..

The one that comes immediately to mind as a great example is Bilbo Baggins using the skill in Smaug's lair to pick out a nice bit of treasure.

Personally, I really like the art for them in this article, and don't care for them in bestiary 3.

However, I won't ever go radically overboard as you did, to say that any official Pathfinder art is "horrible".

Have you downloaded the Beginner Box Player Pack and GM Kit? They give you more information (and a free mini-adventure) to help you transition from the BB to the full Core Rulebook, and recommend Crypt of the Everflame, which was written as an intro to the Core Rulebook and is a good choice for making the transition.

So, who preferred it when Dungeon and Dragon mags went digital only?

That's not really a fair question since they stopped coming out as a single unit and came out piece meal and was about 4e.

Now with that said I subscribe to Kobold Quarterly and only get the PDF version. I have no real desire to have print issues.

In general we don't care that much about reviving old threads, though if the thread was several hundred grar-filled posts long, we'd usually prefer if it just stay dormant.

I'm not really big on technological fixes to human mistakes in general, actually. People who aren't paying enough attention to notice that they're posting a "hey me too!" comment on a years-dead thread probably wouldn't notice an "are you sure?" message either. More likely they'd just get annoyed at having to actually read what's on the screen in front of them, and our site has enough ways to annoy people already that I'd rather not add any more.

I'm sure somebody will have fun necroing this thread sometime in the future.

The only time it annoys me when somebody necroes is when somebody tells a previous poster they are wrong, but in reality that wasn't the case when the post was made. Like when a new errata or new source book comes out.

Other times necroing a thread is useful because when something new comes out, or when something is errata'ed its nice to update the discussion.

Dont see anything worng at all with bringing back an old thread either. Why start all over again, regardless of how old the original was?

Thanks folks. This guy got a few posts in before I noticed the flags, but he's gone now. Keep alerting us when someone like this slips through.

I don't know, but if you had hit me any harder, I may have actually found work.

Wishful thinking...

I can't believe I haven't thought of this before, nor, on a cursory look through the thread, has anyone else asked for it.

I'd love for there to be a box/window - detachable or not doesn't matter to me - where I could keep small campaign notes right with the saved combat state. Nothing spectacular is needed, obviously. I don't need a spell check or hyperlink ability or anything. Just a simple text window where the contents save when the combat state is saved. Would that be useful to anyone else?

So, you said that the idea governing Prestige creation was "Which organization/religion/society needs a prestige class in the inner Sea region?"

If that so, does Cayden Cailean's Church get a prestige? Or is chevalier all we get?

On a related note! Are all of these 10 level prestiges? or are there some 5 and 3 levels mixed in?

Nothing specifically Cayden Cailean related in the book, but there's certainly going to be some good cleric choices.

They're all 10 level classes. 5 and 3 level concepts are, in my opinion, better served as archetypes.

It looks to me like it's a human filling out the signup form. I figure they're probably paid a nickel for each time they post their spam. Pretty crappy life, if you ask me.

I'm not inclined to put up more technological barriers like captchas because they annoy the hell out of the very people they're supposed to protect. For now the flagging system works great for catching these.

I would definitely not go as far as making that conclusion ... In fact every year at this little get together at Gencon ... Wait ... What's that sound ? On no ... THEY ARE HERE !

I ... I have said too much!

Mercy!! ... That's my leg!!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh !

Nice! "[REDACTED] give me my money" is indeed the answer. OR its bi-stochastic group management and modeling mechanics.

One of the two. :)

Greetings everyone!

I want to Thank Owen, Stan! and Hyrum for the kind words and welcome!

I don't ban it. In fact, everyone gets it, no feat needed. Actually taking the feat nets you a +2 to your leadership score. On the other hand, I don't allow automatic recruitment. Gaining followers is a roleplaying reward, and a cohort has to be actively, and specifically, sought out.

A-hem. That's Cthu-Lou, thank you very much. :)

215. You interrupt classes/meetings to introduce your classmates/colleagues to Pathfinder... And you get away with it.

(Publisher, Frog God Games)

lol; to clarify--Dark Sasha needs a programmer helper so she can facilitate communication to all of you. Mrs. Frog and I are obviously abysmal programmers

not sure if this is taboo but...
214. you buy a minature for another game (warhammer 40k, tyranid) and stat it for a pathfinder game plus use it for your other game.

I discovered the changes on dragon sizes by accident some time ago.

Here's one more archetype:
HANDLER (ROGUE ARCHETYPE)
Light-Fingered (Ex): At 3rd level, a handler gains a +1 bonus on Sleight of Hand skill checks made to try to take something from a creature. These bonuses rise to +2 when the handler reaches 6th level, to +3 when she reaches 9th level, to +4 when she reaches 12th level, to +5 at 15th, and to +6 at 18th level. This replaces trap sense.
Handler’s Luck (Ex): At 8th level, a handler gains a bonus equal to her Charisma bonus (if any) on all Saving Throws. This replaces improved uncanny dodge.
Uncle’s Luck (Ex): At 20th level, a handler is elevated to the title of Uncle or Aunt. She gains a bonus equal to her Charisma bonus (if any) to AC. This bonus to AC apply even against touch attacks or when the handler is flat-footed, immobilized or helpless. Additionally, each ally within 30 feet of her gains a bonus equal to the handler Charisma bonus (if any) on all Saving Throws. This replaces master strike.

Classes of NeoExodus: Machinesmith is now on sale at RPGnow. Coming to Paizo most likely tomorrow. Thanks for everyone support on this project. It has been a great experience and we hope to do more of these "group reviews" of in progress projects.

If we release it solo, then expect for it to cost between $2.49 to $3.29. I might even think about adding this class to the NeoExodus Iconics. I mean what is more iconic than a steampunk inspired class for NeoExodus: A House Divided and Pathfinder?

I'd suggest a separate release. I think many people might enjoy the class, not only fans of NeoExodus.

Kyle, if you're sitting on the fence with the open source idea, how about compromising and bringing in a couple other coders who can help you out as a team rather than going open source completely. Some of the best mods out there are a team effort. It's just one way to make things easier on yourself without going open source.

Very cool! I am pretty sure I am the one who came up with the name Pathfinder Fans United as we were hurriedly trying to put up Wayfinder 1 on the website and we needed a company name to do so. To think that that name that was pulled out of the blue like that has come to mean something and will now have a logo is pretty neat. Sniff. My baby's all grown up! :)
