hmmm... sounds fun. I like darker maps. Have you seen my Temple of Elemental Evil or Ghost of Mistmoor maps? It's a lot more fun when there is good story to a map; where the descriptions leave wonderful visual clues for you to play with.


Misgivings?

I haven't yet cracked open the Skinsaw murders - is that a map in that module?


I just wanted to thank you again for all of your hard work. I put together this powerpoint slideshow of all the rumors, to show your players (or print out cards with).

Why did I do this? Well, for a few reasons:
1. It's more cinematic and convenient to show my players a couple of slides at the beginning of the game session.

2. I can print handouts of specific slides (6 slides per page), cut the squares out, and have instant rumor cards. Edit: here is a PDF of cards, pre-made.

3. I put in a randomize macro into the file (go to macros and run it) - which shuffles all the slides in the show so I can have random rumors at any time. Some repeat of course, but so do real rumors.

4. I can put in DM notes into the Notes section under each slide to note if the rumors are true or false, or to jot down any other notes I wish.

Here is the Powerpoint. You may get a warning about macros, but that's the randomizer one. No worries. You must enable macros if you wish to use that feature.

Heh, I literally finished it an hour before my players arrived for game. We finished the Glassworks today.

I will try to start on some of the Skinsaw murders in the next couple of weeks. I think the existing maps for Burnt Offerings should suffice for now - I just couldn't help myself with the Glassworks - such an interesting map.


Here is the Sandpoint Glassworks Basement. I will probably hold off on doing too many more maps for Burnt Offerings, since they are pretty much done already - unless I just get the itch to remake one for fun.

Thanks Thelesuit, it was a lot of work.

A much easier work was putting together this list of rumors for Sandpoint into a Powerpoint file. The rumors came straight from Scott's Rise of the Runelords conversion blog.

Ok, against my better judgement, I decided to redo the Sandpoint Glassworks. Previous maps (module and fan made) used the original diagonal layout, and it kind of bothered me when setting up for miniature play. Also, I felt that the original map was very uneven and made for some problematic areas when snapped to a basic grid. Also, all of the maps were a little too low resolution for me. So I made my own!

At any rate, I put way too much time into this one. But hopefully, folks will appreciate it and I won't get sued by Paizo. The detail is as good as I can make it. Original map done in Dundjinni with lots of Photoshop post-processing.

Note that I did make one major change: I chose NOT to put curtains over the windows because it made lighting in the building problematic. I think it's more successful visually without curtains. However, the windows are frosted glass and the interior is dark, so PCs won't be able to make out anything from outside. There should be no need to make any changes to the adventure by using this.

Hey guys. I scanned the maps of Varisia and Sandpoint at 600 dpi from my printed module. This is about 5x as high of resolution than we get from digital download, and I did it for a reason:

I placed the maps into Google Earth, as overlays, and TO SCALE. Now, you can zoom into Varisia, seamlessly explore the region on a globe, and also do the same for Sandpoint.

In fact, my Sandpoint overlay takes advantage of Google Earth's placemark feature - allowing me to create a key of the town, with points of interest and everything.

You can also watch this Youtube Video if you want a better idea of how this works. Note that I recorded the video using Fraps, which didn't capture the placemark text for some reason. Trust me though, the placemarks have paragraphs of information.

I use Dundjinni, with lighting post-work in Photoshop. But the major bulk fo the work is in Dundjinni. I have about 3 GB of user art from the community. Their forums are outstanding.

I've recently begun a hobby of converting old 1st edition adventures into a format that we an enjoy with virtual tabletop programs (I use d20pro). This mostly involves re-creating the maps into color jpgs and converting the module's monsters.

Well, I've been much more interested in the maps, and have begun creating high-resolution maps that can only be described by me as Art - at least, I have the same kind of "lost in the work for hours" feeling as when I paint.

One of my favorite Dungeon modules of all time, the Ghost of Mistmoor (issue #35) has been begging me to be converted to 3.5 and re-mapped. I finally did this and have posted all of the adventure's maps, plus the unmapped Vault, nighttime versions of the maps, and player handouts/visuals on my website. I tried to remain as faithful to the written descriptions in the module as possible, trying to bring a visual element to the already stellar writing.

I would appreciate any feedback from my peers, and hope that these maps are enjoyed by the Dungeon Community.

The Ghost of Mistmoor: Redux


I'm also working on a conversion of Dungeon #35's great module: The Ghost of Mistmoor.

Here is a sneak-peak at part of the 1st floor map.

Does anyone know if this is a gross violation of copyright? Who should I speak with to get written permission to post these publicly? I would really love to get full sanctioning to re-envision some of these old modules.

I've been running a 3.5 conversion of the Temple of Elemental Evil, but almost all of my material is in d20pro. If anyone owns that software (It's a virtual tabletop software) - I can send it to you.

I am also converting the maps using Dunjinni and Photoshop at a crushing scale of 100 pixels per 5 ft. That makes for some seriously huge jpg files, but they are worth it. Check out my maps for the Temple on my website: The Temple of Elemental Evil: Map Conversions

Why yes, I do live in Statesboro, GA. Been gaming there all my life. Do you know of Galactic Comics & Games? It was formerly Gallops.

I'm just about to finish the 1st level of the temple dungeons - just doing lots of photoshop touch-ups before it goes live. I've also had to create a lot of custom art for this map series. Here is a peek at the throne of Zuggtmoy on the ground level. You know, the one with the special activation procedure? The module describes it simply as "a great throne of purplish basalt, with leering demon faces and carved grinning skulls."

This is an old topic, and I don't know if this is interesting or useful to anyone, but I'm (slowly) remaking the maps for the old 1985 module, T1-4: The Temple of Elemental Evil, by Gary Gygax.

I use a software program called d20pro to handle combat and general miniature play with my D&D sessions. We use custom jpgs for characters and monsters, and play on digital maps. See screenshots of d20pro here.

Well, I started messing around with a mapping program called Dundjinni, and it's grown into a kind of art for me. I'm no longer doing this just for my campaign (it's too much work for that). I'm just doing them for me, really. Anyways, these maps are created at a scale of 100 pixels = 1 square = 5 ft. My most recent maps have battlemap versions (8x10 sections that can be printed on a sheet of paper) for those of you who would like a playable miniature surface. I'm slowly getting those converted to PDF for that purpose, but most of my maps are meant to be used digitally.
