Aranthos thanks for the replies - But I really don't understand.. how it would work.

1.) Taking TWF feat doesn't give you more attacks with your unarmed strikes since it only applies to when using two weapons and not unarmed (this is the same in herolabs when I add twf feat then I still do not gain any extra attacks to the unarmed strike, but I surely do with weapons)

The wording is not that clear, but there is a consensus that it should work just fine with unarmed strikes by RAI.

Two levels of MoMS gives you two free style feats free of qualifying requirements, as well as a bunch of other monk goodies. You could go fighter, switch to MoMS, and at level 4 cease to be lawful and go barbarian.

I certainly do agree upon this one... as I said before I can't see any kind of reason why TWF shouldn't work with unarmed strikes (with the exception that it shouldn't work together with flurry, so it should be the one OR the other not both combined) since I would say it would be even more logical that unarmed strikes would be able to pull of more attacks then twf. Actually you can as a monk if you spend ki. The trade off for not being the monk and using unarmed strikes and twf would be the lack of ki to get the extra attack.

So I indeed approve this... so for me it's more a matter of having some kind of official statement regarding this so it can be shown to the GM that it indeed is RAI. So any links that would point this out to me would be immensively helpful!

Then regarding the MoMS I am intrigued to know what you mean that at lvl 4 I should cease to be lawful? How do I do that and what would happen then?

Also...

Is there any way to get like 7 attacks (like twf/flurry) with unarmed strikes without being a monk?

As you can see I am interested in getting more then the regular 4 attacks that I will get with a bab of 16 and using unarmed without being a monk.

Your help here is dearly appreciated!

Unarmed Interative attacks with two weapon fighting progresses faster than flurry of blows on a full BAB character.

Fighter starting with Improved Unarmed Strike, Two Weapon Fighting and Double Slice matches FoB.

As stated above, a two level dip into MoMS will get you where you want faster.

Interesting discussion this is (master yoda style)

Well look alike wise it would work...

But for my build it won't since then I would not be able to use style feats which I really want since they require unarmed strikes (which brass knuckles are not considered being).

If they made it like they did in DDO so there was handwraps available that would use the twf feats but not do anything to the damage then that would be perfect as well. Of course you could add +5 and elementals as per any other weapon as well on those but no inherent extra damage.

/Thrilled

Ohhh what did the recent errata do???

Well my goal is to get at least 7 attacks with my bare hands then without flurry.

I mean there are no reasons what so ever not being able to hit as much with your bare hands compared to using two weapon fighting and dual scimitars.

There are many reasons it would be possible:

1.) Cnly x2 crit on the hands (falcatas have x3 and are dual wieldable)
2.) Threat range is only 19-20 with IC on hands whereas falcatas has 17-20

I just want to be a non monk class but using my hands to fight (brawler type) and not be limited to only 4 attacks.

How do I do??

;)

First I was thinking of The new Era, but quickly reconsidered...

My suggestion would be:

The Epoch

The reasoning behind this:

- The word Epoch applies to the beginning of a new period marked by radical changes and new development - while era applies to an entire period. So Epoch is much more suitable since it is a complete word for what you are trying to do in many ways (I will list some of them here)

* Totally changing the "normal" mmo market and even more so the sandbox market.

* A huge difference have been the communication with your fanbase which I am quite confident that it will continue (this is the most common problem with unsuccessful mmo releases). So maybe this will mark a new epoch in mmo gaming.

* The "start" of the game will most likely be populated by many of the longtime followers of Pathfinder Online... the first pioneers who believed in you from the beginning. Since this will most likely be the first big MMO release made by this concept and using the kickstarter as a kickoff ground (this will be copied thousand and thousands of times from nowon and you were the pioneers in the MMO market I would say). then I would also consider this being an epoch.

Of course there are tons of other reasons, but I guess most people know them already so I shall not post a wall of text here ;)

Btw do any of you know how I add a portrait to Azatoth? My thrilled account has an avatar.. just I am not sure how to add that to Azatoth

Azatoth looks at James and says"Not me unfortunately, the orchish magistrate more often learn how to break things rather then understanding them. However smashing is one of my specialties so let me give a try and we will see how that will work out"

Once cleared, then the half-orc starts to bash the door.

Azatoth moves up to Maximo and the ladies to help out guarding them

Azatoth feels restless at this place and complains to himself "This place place gives me bad feelings"

Azatoth follows silently after Hadassah

Gratz!

I got the map, but I cannot open it in either openoffice or wordpad. So maybe it is only MS word that works.

If you have hard with google docs then roll20.net can work as well... easy to add a map there and you can add tokens equally easy.

/Thrilled

Azatoth draws his scimitar and shield. Azatoth will use his ability to see in the dark to see if he can see anything suspicious in the dark areas

Yea I also prefer to have the GM roll.. This will make things progress better too.

"As you wish Shel.." Azatoth mumbles something about the interest of old corpses when the party can create some new instead, since someone or somebody has to pay for the rude assault...

...that mumble quickly stops when Maximo presents Azatoth with the vial. "You surely know how to get a grumpy orc bastard into better mood! This oil will surely help out to polish the scimitar and THAT makes me happy."

He then puts the potion into his backpack.

"Absolutely, milady" Without hesitating Azatoth steps forward. He takes a look at his scimitar that is still warm after the fight and then assist Shel with the doors.

Azatoth steps up to the remaining elemental and attack with his scimitar

DM:
Sorry, I totally missed that the elemental took a step after the swing. My bad! My map has been updated now to reflect this

Not at all just as planned :)

For the friends on the other side of the atlantic..

= 1PM CST
= 2PM EST

/T

Azatoth groowls loudly and makes an attack with his scimitar against the elemental at position C10

He also recalls the dwarfs word's and avoids the tempting feeling to bite them, a feeling that always becomes like an urge when battle torns up.

So we all should be ready for wednesday then? Have everyone added Avenger to skype?

/Thrilled

Azatoth sees the fiery creatures step out from the shadows. He quickly shouts "WE ARE UNDER ATTACK, PREPARE YOURSELF!" He then mutters loudly "I wonder if my tooths will like biting them? I guess time will tell", he shivers at the thought of hot fires on his tooths.

He then draws his scimitar and prepares for battle.

Even though Azatoth are cautious by nature against humans since his childhood, he still don't want to miss this chance to learn to know his new companions so he says "Sit down James and please tell me more about that strange item you call pistol, since I have never seen such strange device before"

Well since I am being quite bulky with decent AC then I don't mind going in the front if the other agrees.

Ya, I've seen that trend too in theme park MMOs. They come out with a new quest chain and say their intention is to make it extremely difficult, and they succeed. Only the best groups who really work together are able to get through it. The community throws a fit, the developers make it easier, and then easier, and then easier. The "elitists" who were enjoying the challenge complain that the challenge is gone, they get accused of being "elitist jerks" and the whole thing goes down in a big flame war.

Then a new update comes out with harder stuff and the cycle starts all over again.

But to be honest, I don't know how I'd handle it differently if I were in the developers' shoes.

Well don't cater to the whiners I say... simply give a statement sorry if you can't manage this encounter then you a.)either continue to improve and learn the encounter b.) move to another encounter since there are many that are much easier then the one you are bashing your heads bloody against.

Players need to learn that they cannot be the ubergods all the time and easily pull off any encounter they meet! I really hope that there will be encounters that will take YEARS until the first group manage to take it out. What an accomplishment that would be then!

This has nothing to do with elitist thinking, it's all about a realistic thinking where you character are not some kind of demigods and instead even you might hero have your superior enemies!

Yes I agree and a bard is always useful to a group :)

Let's see what the GM himself says

Sounds great Kodi, some kind of cleric would really do good for us as party! First come, first serve...

Maybe the GM are willing to have 5 people in the party? I let him decide depending on how his adventure is set up.

/Thrilled

Mr. Swagger I thought that might be the case which was the reason I wanted to clarify things a bit :)

Sorry to loose you then...

So we are still in need of one more player... any takers?

Welcome Mr. Swagger, hope you can make it! Honestly the time zones make my head hurt, lol.

So so far we have...

thrilled's Half Orc Ranger: Is he a melee type, archery, or a switch hitter?

Byden's Human Druid: He is a primary melee character, with a lion animal companion. For the early levels all of his spells are probably going to be cures, so he can provide out of combat healing.

Dalgore Brigdin's Half Elf Rogue: I get the impression he will be skill focused, is he going to be mixing it up in melee, or more ranged?

True... I will be melee typ, however at later lvls I will also gain some casting going magus lvl 4.

/thrilled

Haha Chris,

Actually that was a perfect sentence in swedish, so I am not so sure about that yet ;)

Welcome Mr.Swagger!

Sounds good! A cleric would be very much welcome!

Just to make sure:

# We will start the game session at 1PM CST which equals to 8PM CET, 7PM UK time or 2PM EST. Will will play at least until 4PM CST (maybe longer if the players are up for it?)

# 20 Point builds

# Pick 2 traits and then pick one extra trait from the players guide.

# Submit your character and a picture you want to use to our GM TheHairyAvenger

Feel free to correct me if something is missing TheHairyAvenger

No t-shirts here.. I am as new you can be to this, but I am enjoying it alot sofar!

Living in Sweden means that my timezone is CET. So east coast US are 6 hours behind me and west coast US are 9 hours behind me. So when the west coast people start their job then I have just ended mine ;)

I am staying awake quite late, normally close to 2AM (8PM EST). Can be good to know if you wonder why I am a bit silent during 8PM-4AM EST.

Now that will also explain if the grammar are not 100% correct when I am typing ;)

Azatoth will spend most of his journey rather close to Hadassah due to feeling a natural bond to her.

While he sometimes may not be a man of many words, he still has interest in trying to learn to know his other companions too. So most of the trip he will socialize with the other people in the group.

Along with this he also does his routine... sharpening the large tooths with the back of his curved sword, which has been slightly modified to function as a fangfile.

Azatoth is also quite surprised to see such strange device as the thing James call pistol. He have never seen such thing during is life.

Azatoth was silent during the briefing and not until everyone else has left the building, then he slowly rises up. It appears like he have been digesting all the info laid out to him, both from the captain as well as from his now to be companions.

"I thank you for the excellent ale Barkeep"

Azatoth then leaves the building to prepare for the journey.

The Technology Demo is more about proving what we can do rather than proving that the game will be awesome.

If you're an investor (or a potential player) and Goblinworks says "we can do this thing", you might say "prove it". The Technology Demo helps to prove it. It shows that we have at least basic competency in using modern tools, and that our middleware can actually do the job it is designed to do, and that we can budget a time & cost to do a fairly complex project and come at least reasonably close to hitting both.

We'll be showing some beautiful things in the Technology Demo but it's not designed to give you a sense of what it will be like to play the game. It's designed to give you a sense that Goblinworks knows what it is doing and that we're simpatico with the brand of Pathfinder.

Don't be humble now Ryan! This game will be AWESOME!

I mean how can you fail when you already at this point are listening so much to you future players?

This is exactly how you should do when you are making a game.. Listening, evaluating the feedback and the compare and try to match them with your own goals. Doing like this as you already do and never fending off a suggestion without a discussion is awesome! I believe in this project so much (quite appearant since I choosed to support via kickstarter) and the main reason for this is the leadword to all success in MMO games (imo) = communication.

Keep up the good work!

So basically we are 3 players sofar...

We are then in need of 1-2 more and one with at least some kind of healing capability (with that said not necessarily a pure healer) should be prio then.

Anyone else out there interested?

/Thrilled

Azatoth grins and then mutters to himself "Telling a dwarf to avoid food is like telling a priest to stop praying"

The half-orc nods to the tiefling when she whispers to him and whispers back "You and I are not being considered normal in many eyes, so it is a pleasure to see another person that has experienced those strange looks from people that sometimes the have hard to hide the disgust in their eyes"

The half-orc freezes for a few seconds and then stands up and say "How rude of me to forget to introduce myself. My name is Azatoth but I am also known as Plaguebringer, but I do prefer if you call me Azatoth"

The door to Hemlock room once again opens, and soon a large figure steps inside. He doesn't look like the regular customers here and his bulky figure soon comes into the light of some torches. He has pretty dark skin and black long hair that covers most of his ears. Noticable are the extra large fangs that comes out from his lower jaw.

He has curved sword by his side and a large wooden shield on his back. He carefully look around inside the room and then steps inside.

"Greetings people! By the looks it appears that I have come to the right place. I assume you all are here for the desert trip?"

The half-orc spots the tiefling and suddenly there seems to be a slight relief coming over his face. He then sits down at a table quite close to the tiefling.

Still sorting. I know I'll be picking a seven-character team. I'm doing what I can to keep it balanced, and including some people I imagine will find it fun to bounce characters off one another. I should have the final tally in about 13 hours.

Looks like I was accepted into the other game, so I'll be bowing out here. Thanks anyway, Chris!
Thank you for considering me. I know the other game and the other GM. You'll have a blast!!

Thanks for the update Chris!

I should mention that I am new to PbP (If we are not counting the old fashion PbM, which I surely played 20 years ago ;) )

Although I am a player with lots or roleplaying experience and I am quite familiar with the pathfinder roleplaying game itself.

Would be an honor if I get selected. I fully understand that it will be a rough process for you to get all this sorted and not everyone will be able to join.

Goodluck to you Chris and keep up the good work!

Any news Chris? :)

I think we are lacking healing sofar... so anyone interested in some kind of healer role would very very useful ;)

Yes Kodi...

7PM UK time...

Personally I think I would be able to play until 11PM UK time if that suits the rest of the party.

I should be able to make it.. just want to precaution that I might be 15 min late in worst case. But let's try to aim for the timeframe we aimed for.

How many characters have you reicieved sofar Avenger?

Wednesdays works just fine for me... only thing with the coming wednesday is that I have a meeting with the teacher at my oldest kids school at 18.30 CET (17.30 UK time). I believe that meeting would take about 1.5 hour. So hopefully I should be home in time or possibly slightly later.

/T

That works good for me too..

I sent you the character
