The character restrictions are in regards to the class decks. In order to play in the Adventure Card Guild, each player must have their own class deck. You can play any character out of that class deck, or any character you have unlocked as explained above.

The primary reasoning is that since the Card Guild is organized play, you can take your ACG character and class deck anywhere and play. That would be far more difficult to do if you are taking cards out of the base box for characters and for upgrades to your deck. Using only the class decks means that base boxes remain intact.

It also is a regulation issue. If each class only gets to use cards from their own deck box, then everyone playing across the Card Guild is operating on precisely the same level. It is the same explanation for the regulation in PFS play.

Male Halfling Rogue 13 (Counterfeit Mage)

Golarion's tallest Halfling runs up to the group, a bevy of Ioun stones whirling about his head.

"Hi there! Say, did you happen to see a..."

He looks about at the octopus and the now sodden tree.

He rolls his eyes and his face scrunches in a look of pure consternation.

"GODS DAMMIT BOBO!!!"

A wand suddenly appears in his hand and he casts a spell on himself before raising into the air and flying off over the crowd.

"THAT'S THE LAST OCTOPUS, BOBO! I'M SERIOUS!"

I know that Joe, Alex and I had a fantastic time writing "All Seeing Eye" and it was a wonderful experience seeing the looks on the player's faces as they went through and uncovered more and more of the story that we came up with. Frankly, I am consistently wowed by the generosity and amazing good will of the players and GMs (let's face it, they're the same group) of our lodge. And if this is something that we continue to do year over year then I am proud to keep running and writing as long as folk want to keep playing.
