With the plethora of 4E threads this may have been discussed already, but...
Before I got heavily into 3.0 I played a LOT of Star Wars d20. Shortly after the Revised Star Wars Rulebook came out 3.5 hit the shelves. I'm wondering if the Saga Edition is a preview of the "streamlined" system of play that 4E is supposed to deliver.
images of Gob Bluth throwing pennies are now stuck in my head...
I really love WAR's work on D&D. It creates an atmosphere that helps my imagination take me to these campaign worlds. I can remember loving Parkinson, Easley, and Elmore for the same reason (although now i think Easley and Elmore are kinda lame). Campaigns need signature artists just as much as they need signature characters.
it's a pity how many people want to point out everything that's wrong but have no interest in helping to fix anything.
sure!! just...kidding...that's it! in no way am i actually serious about...wanting...to punt gnome heads.
*hides gnome head recently returned from Chopper's Island*
what kind of savage did you take me for?

*punt*
one of my problems with my favorite group, great friends though we are, is that they are quick to condemn something simply by looking at it and saying "that's way too freaking nasty!" this has ruined many a campaign before it even started, and is the reason that we don't play star wars rpg unless everyone is a jedi (because to them it's not worth playing anything else because of how nasty jedi are). then, when the DM comes up with ideas to help solve in game problems, they are just as quick to quit the game rather to play-test something.
I freakin' HATE gnomes. but i love how far their heads go when you punt them.

I've always given experience after each session, with the prereq for leveling up being that the party isn't in the middle of something. if they're able to rest or get down time afterwards, then they can level up.
This is one of my absolute favorite genres, but I have a hard time envisioning it using d20 Modern rules. It might be my White Wolf Storyteller System and HERO System background, but everytime I get ideas for Hellboy or X-Files themed campaigns I can't quite convince myself to use d20 Modern. Perhaps I should give Dark Matter a shot, and I picked up the Saga Edition Star Wars book (which I like), so those might rekindle my love for a good modern Lovecraftian game.
I freaking loved that game!! i'll have to find the new version so my son can try it out.

I second that, Razz. i had no interest in converting Age of Worms away from Greyhawk, but i think Savage Tide would be a lot of fun in the Forgotten Realms.
i have a player who is interested in the "sword of celestia" variant for the paladin, but we don't know how long it is supposed to last. does it function like the special mount and last for 2 hours per paladin level? we figured it must have a duration else there would be no reason for it to be available a number of times per day.
anyone have an idea, suggestion, or an answer?
thanks
Bruce Cordell, master of all things psionic, introduced the Far Realm with his '96 adventure The Gates of Firestorm Peak.
i'm hoping he'll have something to do with the adventures.

That would be Dungeon issue #126. i did actually miss that. that was a good one, though, so mad props to GGG, i mean matt, for that adventure. i don't post very much and felt...compelled?...to add to a mythos thread. i see posts from people like GGG and F2K all over the place and thought i'd give him a hard time. it's cool to be able to communicate with contributors to the magazines i've loved for so long (well, off and on, sometimes they've sucked) and seeing posts from James Jacobs every 15 minutes is pretty cool. shouldn't he be working?
i'm looking forward to this 3 parter, and ordered that back issue dragon with the far realm articles (shipped out 2 weeks ago and i still haven't gotten it. i love paizo but shipping is ALWAYS slow). of course, i love anything lovecraftian, so hopefully it'll be a good series.
next time somebody asks me "what have you got to do that you can't join a cult with me?" i'd better research where my faith is being invested...
i've been worshipping this great green god and NOW i find out its name is 'matt?'
farewell2kings wrote: My question remains...what's a "Far Realm?" Like another plane? I think I like "Far Realm" better than "plane" anyway. the far realm was covered in the manual of the planes. it is based on Lovecraftian literature and is a dimension of madness beyond the planes.
my age of worms campaign is soon to take a Lovecraftian twist. i feel the campaign lends itself nicely to a Mythos-like game: illustrations of some of the Kyuss thingies were vaguely Mythos-like, Kyuss himself is a Worm That Walks (a Mythos inspired creature), he's trying to return to Oerth from a place between the planes, and cultists are working to help him return. HPL would dig it.
i searched for this topic on the site but didn't see it, so i'm going to ask: does anyone else think that whisper gnomes should have an ecl?
the epic arcane trickster was updated with the 3.5 accessory update booklet, available at the wotc website:
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20030718a
maybe that is what you're looking for. i also think i saw it in a FR book, maybe the players guide to faerun? don't have my books with me...
BOZ wrote: actually, there are more of each.
additional slaad lords include Wartle, Chourst, Rennbuu, and Sorel.
additional yugoloth lords include Bubonis/Bubonix, Cholerix, Diptherius, Typhus, Taba, and Xenghara.
most of them were statted in previous editions, but a couple were not.
there were new slaad lords in dragon 221, which is why i name checked it. chourst, rennbuu, and sorel (maybe). can't remember right now. but while i'm at it, i'd also like to throw in my lot with those wanting yugoloth updates. one of my favorite parts of 1st ed. was the unique outsiders like charon and ygorl. props to kyle hunter for including shkiv in the downer series (which freaking ROCKS).
when is someone gonna step up and write about the slaad lords? they seem to be conspicuously absent from 3.0/3.5. i know that in the next dragon there will be an article about the princes of elemental evil, but i think an update on our friends in limbo (think dragon #221) would be a lot cooler.
deceased: lo-kag "brokenguard" thuliaga, male goliath ftr1.
adventure: the whispering cairn
alas, poor brokenguard, he tried to go toe to toe with a certain raging albino half-orc...
the wu tang clan has two members who refer to themselves as the RZA and the GZA. RZA stands for 'razor' as in 'razor sharp' meaning 'on point.' the GZA is the genius, cause the wu form like voltron and GZA happens to be the head. so my name, the DZA, stems from these two names. every group of friends i've had has called me by a dozen nicknames, and never just dustin. so my friend adam, who is a wu tang fan, gave me this one and it stuck. like boogers under desks.
my first attempt at DMing was to impress my older sister, who got me in to d&d. i ran a ravenloft module for her and my little brother, something from the book of crypts, maybe? i was probably 16 or 17 and it went horribly. even i was bored.
i think the first module i played in was baltrons beacon. it was integrated into our ongoing campaign and worked out smoothly.
all out of bubblegum has it. check out the thread WC Red Metal Pedestal for a great explanation by erik mona.

balfesh, male suel hexblade1. works at the emporium as a 'cooler', using his bad luck to make sure people don't win too much while gambling.
arak, male flan clr1. a spirit shaman type working for the bronzewood lodge.
lo-kag "brokenguard" thuliaga, male goliath ftr1. abandoned by his tribe, he was picked up by thorvan and traveled to diamond lake together. works for tilgast in the mines.
