Soon, the precious will be within my grasp ::golum golum::

The hobbitses held onto the previous precious. Nasty hobbitses!

Um, yeah, anyway...

In the next week or so, we're expecting to ship the next volume of your subscription.

That's right, coming to a mailbox near you!

Don't forget, if you see something that relates to the AP, please link it here!

Enjoy

Since character creation and ability score generation are not part of the OGL, how will PRPG handle these essential items?

Is there a way to stay close to what we are all used to without infringing on WotC's IP? How have other game systems handled this?

Are you saying that the actual method of rolling for stats are not in the OGL? If that's true, wouldn't that mean that NO company could produce a dice based game that involved rolling in some way for stats? Is this an acurate reading of the license? IF it is, wouldn't this be a pretty BIG deal?

Two things are not included in the SRD: Generating Ability Scores and Explanation of Leveling. This was to ensure that the Core Books were being purchased. If you look at the Mongoose Publishing "reprints" of the OGL, it is missing those two pieces (and some IP stuff, but that's another thread).

I'm actually curious how Paizo is going to get around this. Leveling shouldn't be a problem, but you can't say "Oh, you need to look at the chart for the class and take those things, apply hit points, and skills". Never mind Multi-classing. Ability scores, you can't say anything listed in prior posts.

Of course, I'm not a lawyer. But this is what I've heard over time.

Try the Holiday Inn. We cancelled our reservation a couple of days ago.

Honestly, not a fan of blogs. There is too much content on one page. I'd suggest keeping the "top 5" entries. After so much reading on a monitor, I get tired of it. I need something to keep me going. This is usually a link to "Previous Posts".

Another thing that may help with the Blog issue that I seem to have would be "teasers." Have a list of the top 10 and only the first part of the post (500 characters or so) and then link off with a "more". This is assuming that you have control over such things.
This also helps in site navigation, as stated before, I don't have to scroll too far to find the site links.

In either case make sure that you keep the "Reply to Post" links if possible.

The d20 site's scroll length isn't so bad for me, mostly because I'm working off a 40" monitor and my resolution's a little higher. However, it doesn't "resize" well. The other sites have a minimum width (due to images or styling, too lazy to look), this one can be "scrunched" to a letter wide. Normally, this is fine, but it's not so good when your sidebars are wider than your content.

The links, as mentioned already, for KQ are "outside" of the box. As if they aren't supposed to be there. Consider adding them to the "Articles, Editorials, Press" area (above, with a HR tag to separate them).

The ad mid page on DM is detracting from the content. There's stuff there, but I think that it's an ad when I look over it quickly. I did go over some of the content here, but it was awhile back. I wasn't impressed by the articles I did read (World Building and Campaign Design) as there was no "crunch" to it. Theory can only go so far.

That's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Can I get a status on my order? Just wondering when to expect it as the "My Account" section hasn't updated.

Thanks

Unfortunately, Cosmo's out sick today, but, judging from the notes on your order, we are still waiting for the original order to come back to us. This should happen soon, though we don't have an exact date.

I've alerted Cosmo to this thread so he can answer you more clearly on Monday. I apologize for the inconvenience!

Just an FYI, I sent the package I received back on Monday.

Thanks for the update!

OK, so I didn't click on the Spoiler...

So, if you happen to see anything that can be linked back here, be sure to post them!

If he makes you that way when you don't say Smurf, I wonder what it will do when you do!

we will be using tdewitt274's maps as another arena in the future.

Actually, that's one of Fake Healer's maps. I just did the interface around it.

You can also search the for "Vissigoth Arena" and "Fake Arena" to see how they did their arena matches. There should be some kind of "setup" thread in the archives somewhere.

BM wrote:

Aren't Javascript arrays like most computer arrays? 0-X?(X standing in for the max value for the array)

Basically, yes. You can also use "split()" to parse text strings into arrays. I'm a little rusty, but I believe "join()" brings the array into a string.

Normally, you'd have to declare your Array (depending on the language), using the above, you don't have to determine the X.

thanks for the explaintion man i may fool with it some i know nothing of java ..looked nice though

Actually, JavaScript has nothing to do with Java.

seekerofshadowlight wrote:

very nice man what did you use to make it. any help would be more then welcome. I would like to start off with one stable and if there is interest add more for some player vs player matches. I also want to allow for role playing there is always stuff to be done around an arena .

It's all JavaScript using 2 arrays that store the character information and round information.

  • The JavaScript array keeps track of all previous rounds so they can be reviewed by changing the dropdown.
  • The size of the character can be increased/decreased (I don't think the Decrease worked right for smaller than "small").
  • Each person was on a "team" (ex, red, blue, green) that outlined the character.
  • Once dead, the character was moved off to the "Dead Pool" so people could keep track.
  • The current system could hold up to about 12 characters.
  • There is no "user interface", so a slight knowledge of JavaScript arrays would be useful.
  • It could potentially use any kind of map, as the squares are defined in the JavaScript.
  • It does tend to take up some bandwidth, as the images are not cached. I tried a CSS version, but for some reason I couldn't make it work right with the different features.
  • X and Y access are generated by the JavaScript.

Sounds like something Vissigoth and Fake Healer did awhile back. I had an arena (here) that they used, but it seems like this version would be more complex than what I set up before.

The TITLE tag is missing from the first item, the Topic "Title", but it is on the "XX minutes ago". The server isn't including the text, so I assume that it's not querying the db for the first post data as well.

I think this first started happening yesterday. Possibly Gary's idea of a April Fool's joke?

A little Stitch-like, sure, but without the whole redeemed-in-the-end aspect. Not enough time for soul searching in this game.

Mike

That, and the dogslicer also doesn't do good for his rep ; )

By the way, in case it isn't obvious now, this comment was about Falling: The Goblin Edition. Drew was the artist I asked for, based on a tiny monkey-gargoyle illustration he did for one of the modules. He did not disappoint, drawing some hysterical little goblins on their way to becoming two-dimensional.

Huh, he looks kinda like Experiment 626

I've replied to Cosmo a couple of times, but haven't received a response yet.

In short, I received the package (with the contents as listed in the email) but need the return label to send it back.

Also, could I get an update on the status of my original order?

If you have questions, I will keep an eye on this thread and my email as well.

Thanks

Not wanting to risk taking a knife to my copy of the Guide to Korvosa, I was going to print out the poster map, but I haven't been able to work out how to get it to "tile" print across multiple pages - it looks like it would be something like 3x3 A4 pages. Aside from taking it to a print shop, or buying the full version of Adobe Reader, can anyone suggest a solution please?

If it's not too late, here's what I've done with Hero Games background maps.

On Windows systems:
Open the document.
Rotate the image as needed.
Make a screen shot (the "Print Screen" button, use ALT if you have multiple monitors).
Paste in Paint.
Choose File > Page Setup...
Uncheck the "Horizontal" and "Vertical" centering.
Modify the margins to a smaller value.
I suggest Landscape printing.
In Vista: Select "Fit To" and enter your pages (a 3x3 will likely distort).
In Others: Select "Adjust To" and manipulate the percentage as needed (roughly 500%, but you'll need to experiment). Suggested so as not to deal with distortion.
Print.

There will be no overlap, so don't reduce your margins by too much. You'll need these to tape the pieces together. Once you decide which side to start taping, remove the border on the other sides (ex, Upper Left start, trim the right and bottom).

Of course, once you find the size you need, you can have the printer print on a larger sheet of paper.

It's not perfect, and the wording will not transfer well, but it's at least a start.

Hope this helps.

And then idiot me, I posted it in the wrong board. Oh well...

OK, it's a little off topic, but I didn't want this one to get lost.

I got a call last week from my brother and he said I received a package from Paizo at my old address. I didn't remember ordering anything, and it was wierd since I've been getting everything at the new address fine.

So, I went over and checked out the mysterious package. Seems as if someone appreciated my GM Reference (here and here) threads and wanted to say thanks.

So, anyway, whoever you are, thanks! And thanks to you too, Cosmo! I'm glad that people find those posts useful, even though I don't have the time to keep up with it as much as I'd like.

Keep on gaming!

TD

For the record, I don't want to see pictures in the posts. I think this adds to the "professional" quality of the boards.

Last thing I want to see is a bunch of glitter effect animated signatures.

IMHO, of course.

Holy Smurf
Holy Smurf damages undead smurf and evil smurfs almost as if it were smurf . A flask of holy smurf can be thrown as a smurf weapon.

Treat this attack as a smurfed smurf attack with a smurf increment of 10 smurf. A flask smurfs if thrown against the smurf of a corporeal smurf, but to use it against an incorporeal smurf, you must open the flask and smurf the holy smurf out onto the smurf. Thus, you can douse an incorporeal smurf with holy smurf only if you are smurf to it. Doing so is a smurfed smurf attack that does not provoke smurf of opportunity.

A direct smurf by a flask of holy smurf deals 2dSmurf points of smurf to an undead smurf or an evil smurf. Each such smurf within 5 smurf of the point where the flask hits smurfs 1 smurf of smurf from the smurf.

Temples to good smurfs sell holy smurf at cost (making no smurf).

Sounds like the new adventure path is on it's way out.

Remember, if you see something that would be useful to a GM, please link the thread here.

Enjoy!

You may have to search a little bit, but I know that quite a few sets are out there. The link is for Chainmail.

Slip cover, required printer/black and white for label.

There is another office document "holder" that would allow you to insert documents in them. They're made of hard plastic on the sides, but I can't seem to find them.

CourtFool for the win!

In addition to a liscensed City of Heroes where Hero and Cryptic Games will be working hand in hand on converting back and forth into the game world. Apparently, this liscense also includes the Dark Champions genre.

There's still an "unreleased announcement" regarding 6th edition as well. Possibly something digital?
