I have yet to involve any gods directly in our game. One of the characters was given a token in the shape of an ion stone for completing his oracle task by Besmara. however reading a touch about Dagon it would seem like hinting towards his encroachment into the shackles would be enough to upset some of my players.

Thanks for pointing this out too me. There is defiantly some story ideas that this could drive.

Take a look at eldritch archer Arche type for magus. One level dip in gunslinger and one level dip in inspired blade swashbuckler. Obviously point blank shot, rapid reload, rapid shot, and deadly aim will be key feats. Don't forget to grab magical lineage for your trait. Good arcana would be lingering pain to make your gm's casters cry. Quick clear is going to end your 'what if it breaks?' Fear. Optional feats are two weapon fighting, and point blank shot. I really like distance on my pistols but magus can be very tanky if built correctly.

You can do basically similar things with alchemist and the grenedier Arche type.

Alternatively you can do 5 gunslinger 1 inspired blade swash 1-2 urban barbarian and the rest alchemist. +6 enhancement +4/+4 morale/alchemical for +7 hit/dmg. Savage techknowlegist barbarian and the extra arm discovery with the vivisectionist Arche type for alchemist gives you no aoo for shooting into melee and touch attack sneak attack.

First I want to make it clear that this is a side quest.

I had a tojanida take a deep platinum amulet from the group; that has a mystical ability to attract those that wear deep platinum and has a confusion ability if you stare at it. This amulet came out of the skulls and shackles adventure path which is what I'm running.

The group followed the tojanida into an aquatic cave where they will be dealing with an aboleth, eyes of the deep, deep one hybrids, and deep ones. I've done a fair job slowing them down with just the aboleth at the moment. I think I want to make an aberration haunt or two in order to catch them off guard when they get used to all the illusion magic.

My end goal is a Deep old one and the recovery of the amulet. Not sure if I want to make it a resurrection or what. . . Has that Cthulhu feel to it.

Any ideas?

If you're trying to sell a bag of devouring you never thought to give it to the rogue as its new garrote wire. Sneak up on mob, place bag on mobs head, ???, profit!

Barbarians are bad even with rage. Their a tier 4 class at best and only worth a couple dip levels and nostalgia. You want to have fun try paladin 4 with the mercy to negate fatigue as a swift action and 2d6 self heal, this heal can be enhanced with a phylactery, the trait opportunistic gambler for +1d4 rage rounds. I hope Divine grace doesn't need to be pointed out to you. The rest of your levels are going to be Bloodrager for the same rage mechanic as a barbarian plus self buffing.

Let's not forget having a cha score to keep you from going "I'm bored! when are we going to have combat?" That gets you killed in my games. It's the players choice to ham string their rp potential.
