Mr. Wertz, would you please move this post to the "Editing Mistakes" thread. I didn't realize there was already an acceptable forum for what I wanted to say.
I would like to think about this for a moment or two before I comment. At first glance it seems like the Gestalt Character creation guidelines in Unearthed Arcana. I say more later.

While I know that we are just now editing Chapters 2 and 3, I had begun reading through Chapter 4 and noticed some things I thought were needing attention. I am beginning a round of play with the Beta rules so I am curious about some unclear items. I have only been through Chapter 4 partially so far and will post more as I go through it.
Please if I am in the wrong area or if this is not a proper post move or delete as you see fit. So here goes nothing.
Barbarian:
- p 14, 1st column, line 17: "A barbarian cannot enter a new rage while fatigued but can otherwise enter rage multiple times during a single encounter or combat." How can that happen unless an encounter lasts for 10+ rounds? Player must count rounds of rage plus rounds of fatigued condition (2x rage rounds).
- p 14, 1sr column, line 26: "A barbarian cannot select an individual power more than once." "More than once..." what, an encounter, day, week, month?
- Please sort rage powers according to level available or mention in first sentence of description.
- p 15, 1st column, line 4: "Quick Reflexes" Does this stack with the Combat Reflexes feat?
- p 15, 1st column, line 13: "Rolling Dodge" Does this stack with the Dodge feat?
Bard:
- p 16, 1st column, line 44: Should "...allotment of spells per day..." read "...allotment of spell slots per day..."?
- No mention of 20% failure due to deafness in Spell section.
- p 19, 1st column, line8: "Discordant Performance" "Perform skill can can use his..." Delete second "can".
- Continuation: Creature is allowed a new Will save at the end of its turn each round Discordant Performance is active?
- p 19 2nd column, line 30: "At the end of an affected creature's turn, it is allowed a new Will save to overcome the effect." Does this mean at the end of its turn during the duration of the effect?
-"Inspire Heroics" It speaks of an ally who witnesses a Bard's performance, witness implies viewing, but any type of performance may be used. How does one witness singing, or how does one witness acting in the middle of combat?
-"Lore Master" Does the Bard nees ranks in a Knowledge skill to be able to take 20 if he does need ranks to take 10?
This is all I have found so far. Feel free to add to this list or make any comments you feel are appropriate. Thank you for reading.

Montalve, I enjoyed your question regarding literacy of the people of Golarion. As a DM/Player, I tend to go a little bit overboard is trying to make the world I am playing in a little bit more believable. In respect to your question there is an article in the Spring 2008 issue of Kobold Quarterly, #4.The title of the article is "Lessons from Arabia" by Jaye Sonia. Basically it brings out many of the same or similar issues that were brought out here. One point is that you might consider Common as more of a Trade language than an actual language that can express abstract concepts. An example would be if I went to Mexico and tried to discuss metaphysical concepts with a merchant. Would either of us understand what the other was trying to say? But if we were discussing the cost of a rug or tapestry we would understand well enough.
My point is that I agree that there might be room in an inhouse game for a trade language and for PC's to understand more than one language. Of course there is always the use of spells or skills that will cover most encounters.
I hope this has made sense. I wish you all a long and happy life.
There are a couple of other recommendations for names. One is Gygax's Book of Extraordinary Names, and the other is the Ultimate NPC's book. I hope this gives you some more resources. I hope you are able to see this post.
I have the flip-mats for : Dungeon, Tavern, Cathedral, Keep, Woodlands, and Mountain Pass. They certainly keep the game moving because you don't have to stop to draw on a blank mat. While granted they don't always represent what is described in the encounter they are helpful anyway. Thank you Paizo for doing something so useful that continues the fun without stopping it.
My group is trying out the max HD + con mod + racial + bonus (if any). I'll let you know whether they survive or not. It looks promising though.
Coridan said: Our group switched to rolling 2d6+6 recently for our stats, we're liking it a lot for our style of play. Really though every home group has its own methods and there's no need to put them ALL in the book.
Our group had just started running Expedition to Undermountain a couple of weeks before the Beat came out. We got together yesterday and talked about running it using the Beat rules. We were not so far along that we couldn't create new characters adn pick up where we left off. We decided to try out the 2d6+6 method of generating ability scores. I think the lowest score rolled was a 9. All in all it appeared to work pretty well. I'll try to keep posting what happens in the game elsewhere.
As far as Half-whatever races are concerned, there was a book published by Technomancer Press titled, PLAYER'S COMPANION. There are several half-races in there. It is 3.5 based and I found my copy through Noble Knight Games.com. If Mr. Jacobs and company are interested in a resource for some unusual half-races I suggest this resource. With that being said, one of my players wanted to modify the Half-orc race in the Beta to be Half-orc/Half-dwarf. We decided to go with the Half-orc racial characteristics and build his back story from there. So it isn't hard to develop whatever you want to do as a home-rule. I just require a good background to explain it.
Minkscooter said: p.5 Generating Ability Scores, line 3: "offlexibility" (not sure if that's a pdf quirk or someone missed the space key)
It appears the same way in the print version. Looks like one word.
I just went to Amazon.com and found 17 copies of Aurora's Whole Realms Catalog priced from $4.22 to $74.11. I will probably try to get a copy. I am not familiar with the book but if it is as good as I suspect from the comments it should be a good addition with the Magic Item Compendium and Arms and Equipment.
How many Domain spells can be prepared per day? Page 176, second column, top of the page states, "A cleric gains the listed bonus spells from both of his Domains." Does this mean he can prepare both domain spells per day or just one?
I am humbled and honored that Mr. Reynolds would see fit to comment about my question. Thank you for your suggestion Sir. I will discuss all the possibilities with my players. Thank you all for your input.
WHEW!!!! I was not expecting such a large and varied response. However, with that being said, I wish to thank everyone who responded. There were many good and interesting points brought up.
I am not only a DM but also a player, and a fanatic about a back story. If you can give me a good reason why you want to do something I will more than likely let you just to see what happens. An example was in one game letting in a Half-Dragon Fighter. The group went into Maure Castle and managed to kick butt. I had a hard time creating challenges.
So that prompted me to ask my question here. Thanks again for the responses.
I understand that there is no rule preventing it, I just have a little problem with the concept of one PC taking one class then later multiclassing as a Barbarian which I see as a racial or cultural aspect and not so much as a class you can take levels in.
I think it might stretch the imagination for a concept like Wizard 5/Barbarian 3, or some such combination.
As I have tried to express, this is just my opinion. However, I wanted to hear other opinions about it. Thanks for your comments.
I too am new to the boards. I just started posting about a month ago when I finally found some players interested in playing on Saturday's. We met and talked about playing in Pathfinder's world and they wanted to try out Expedition to Undermountain, which led to my first posting asking where to put it. I decided to put it under the Irespan in Magnimar. I knew about Paizo from my subscription to Dungeon and to Dragon magazines. When WotC decided to end the contract I was left with some unused time left. I chose to accept a subscription the the first AP. I am trying to keep up but with a limited budget it isn't easy. I hope my game continues but I am wondering because one of my players has already decided to drop out and another doesn't show up or call. We will see what happens.
I am still new to being the DM so I am looking for advice on being a better one. This is my question: Can a PC multiclass into becoming a Barbarian after starting as a Sorcerer at 1st level?
My thinking is that a PC is a Barbarian more as a cultural aspect than a class per se. I can see a Barbarian realizing his magical potential after some dramatic encounter during the course of his adventuring. But to begin as a Sorcerer then become a Barbarian seems a little hard to choke down.
Please let me know your thoughts on the subject. While I am at it, if this is in the wrong place let me know that too. I thank you all for taking time to read this thread. Have a long and happy life.
JoelF847 said, "Also, ditch Monkey grip, make the spiked chain +1, and use that 6K gp to get strongarm gauntlets from the Magic Item Compendium."
I believe you might have meant Strongarm Bracers, but the point is well taken. Do not mean to offend.
Joey Virtue wrote: I have a PC who wants to name himself after a Thassilon Mage. He has a great story to go along with it but im to lazy to write it up till I post my entire party so can some one help me with some Thassilonian names
Thanks guys
You probably already know this but Wizards has a name generator on its website. I'll try posting the URL here,http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20010208b.
Hope this helps. I know they're not necessarily Thassilonian. Have a great life.
The insertion of Undermountain into Pathfinder went pretty well so far. I just got the Beta and am looking at incorproating some of the rules into the game. We aren't very far ahead in the play so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. However, I have two players playing two PC's each. One player has cancelled on me two weekends in a row. We will see if he shows up this coming weekend. If anyone is in Houston, TX and is interested in playing contact me. I know that probably wasn't appropriate, so I apologize to the Moderator if that is true.
Here are some of the questions I have noticed. If anyone has an opinion please let me know.
- "Extra Turning" feat - On page 86 the feat might be better titled as Extra Channel Energy. Essentially there does not appear to be any type of turning is PRPG.
- "Improved Turning" feat - Possibly changed to "Improved Channel Energy"?
- "Two Weapon Rend" feat - Is it automatic or must it be declared?
- "Weapon Swap" feta - Is the off-hand supposed to be empty and if not what happens to the light weapon held in that hand.
- Is "Monkey Grip" feat being looked at for inclusion?
- Equipment Chapter - There are several weapons, armor, and pieces of equipment that are not listed in the descriptions. Will these be added or should we plan on keeping our PHB handy?
Thanks for taking time to read my post. I am looking forward to any comments.
Did anyone else pick up that under the description of the spell "Mislead" it references "improved invisibility"? Could it possibly be that "Greater Invisibility" was meant?
I got my Beta on Friday, Aug 29, and I have been looking through it today. It appears that there are some interesting adaptations to the classes. I will be posting on the Playtest forum if anyone is interested. I can't say when that will be but suffice it to say that I will have something to talk about. I wish you all a long and happy life.

I love the map folios and all, but a nice big continental map stuck up on the wall is a thing of beauty.
Pretty please?
I was able with my Brother Printer/Scanner/etc to pick creating a poster. So I just took each section of the Gazeteer map and created a poster that takes up about 4' x 6'. It has a few small gaps but it does give the players an idea of where they are and where they are going.
Supposedly it causes opponent to take penalty on attacks and other checks and lasts as long as rage lasts. That is all I can remember of what he said about it.
I am the new DM starting to apply Undermountain to the Pathfinder world. One of my new to me players has mentioned a feat for the Barbarian his friend wants to play. It is supposedly named "Commanding Rage". I cannot find it on this website, nor WoTC, nor D&D Wiki. Any possible information would be appreciated.
I am a fairly new DM that is starting a new game with new to me players. We have decided to start with Expedition to Undermountaion and I want to place it in the campaign world of Pathfinder. I have said that it will be in Magnimar, but if anyone has any other suggestions I am open to listening.
