Remembering that the things you were locked in mortal comabt with laughed at your fireball and requested another is just common sense.

The hard question is when you show up at a scenario that works better if you play along with the story even though you know how that monster works.
Or your character has seen every wedding he has attended go violently south (must have been the cake right?) and still shows up in a tux and not full plate with her trusty sword.

Congrats!! :D

So is marriage a prestige class or an archtype? :)

You could also have a parent that has a magic item in the house with shiny goodness radiating from it or insidious horribad seeping forth.
Exposure to it while in the womb or after birth even has brought forth a transformation.
Heck, your parents could even be pathfinders, easily explaining the presence of such magic paraphernalia, idols, books, hieroglyphics, tapestry, gems, etc.
Now what I dont know canon wise for golarion is if you can be transformed later in life. Ie, as an adult go from human to WTF! Maybe you can, maybe not in PFS.

If you are wanting to inject a little humor into the item turned me into this story, you could say an incident at the main lodge during your childhood is the reason bring your daughter to work day was banned in the Society.

Ay, that I had not done a thousand more.
Even now I curse the day--and yet, I think,
Few come within the compass of my curse,--
Wherein I did not some notorious ill,
As kill a man, or else devise his death,
Ravish a maid, or plot the way to do it,
Accuse some innocent and forswear myself,
Set deadly enmity between two friends,
Make poor men's cattle break their necks;
Set fire on barns and hay-stacks in the night,
And bid the owners quench them with their tears.
Oft have I digg'd up dead men from their graves,
And set them upright at their dear friends' doors,
Even when their sorrows almost were forgot;
And on their skins, as on the bark of trees,
Have with my knife carved in Roman letters,
'Let not your sorrow die, though I am dead.'
Tut, I have done a thousand dreadful things
As willingly as one would kill a fly,
And nothing grieves me heartily indeed
But that I cannot do ten thousand more.

-Aaron from Titus Andronicus

Ten thousand worse than ever yet I did
Would I perform, if I might have my will;
If one good deed in all my life I did,
I do repent it from my very soul

-same dude, same play

My all time favorite though:

So let it be written, So let it be done.
Ramses II (played by Yule Bryner) in Ten Commandments

I also liked:
You will be mine, like my dog, or my horse, or my falcon, except that I shall love you more - and trust you less.

I think one thing to keep in mind is this, your faction does not have to be central to your character.
I think this is easy to forget sometimes.
Patfinders are well.... Pathfinders.
Maybe your faction is a big part, maybe its just a means to an end or the group that your characters mentor belonged to, etc.

For some of my characters, factions were realy fun to involve in a definitive way, others were not at all involved beyond the basics.

Horseman: What time are you hoping on the anvil pounders side?

Mike and BDJ: All are welcome and we are pretty helpful getting people where they are lloking to be, ie raids, pvp, pets, what not.
If anything make a new character with the guild and see if you like it. :)

If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Im sure more people will be joing/rejoining when WOD hits. We will probably have a help-everyone-get-back-in-the-game party :)

So the horde side is quiet but has spikes of activity, I believe more are getting active on it. Sean routinely hops through and one of the members of this board is active on it. I will leave it to him to decide if he wishes to announce himself.

The alliance side is very active in my opinion as far as interactng with fellow guild members, being on alot, helping each other, and doing activites together. Raids are come and go, I believe they are really trying to organize raids in the future.

My schedule makes it very hard to commit to raiding at a dependable level, so I LFR and PUG Flex mainly. And help out the guild where I can.

It is not a mega guild for those looking for that. The realm is med pop with a strong presence of alliance.
I find it to be fun and awesome.

If you had multiples of these, or picked the "top 3", you'd get *tons* of people wanting their characters names to almost-literally be immortalized in the Pathfinder Society.

A lengthy contract is handed to each of you, before he even speaks you know you dont like him.

Its funny how your mind associates the poster avatar with the person. Even after meeting adam in person, i still associate him with the mantis.

Random fact(or maybe its an opinion :D) the module that avatar comes from is one of the best ever. The rival party concept was not only awesome but executed flawlesly.

Very close, but Metallica's line is "So let it be written, so let it be done".

The line is the same in the movie, i dont know if met took that and used itfor their song or not though.

for what its worth and not to derail the thread, missionaries have had quite a history of being in court. This applies beyond the normally thought of christian/catholic but also islam, hindu, and others.
Unless you are of course basing your kingdom off of a vanilla european kingdom. Then it is a Bishop. And no one else dares to differ with him.

Cast all three of my breath of life spells at a paizocon special once, that was an interesting fight to say the least. :) brought them back everytime, one was way down. free empowered breath of life once a day for the win. :)

Edit: also airwalked my huge stegosaurus over the walls of the main lodge during another pfs special. Taldor, as he follows a Qadiran which is proper in a rightful world, carried many a pathfinder into the treacherous battle for the main lodge. And died facing off with a huge dragon at the climax. :( It is what is expected when you battle such things. A dragon is a good way to go as far as deaths in PFS are concerned, IMO.
Speaking of deaths, that same cleric used all three of his breath of lifes, 2 scrolls of res, all channels, quite a bit of expendables. good times. If not the best scenario, it was among them. Kyle Elliot ran an awesome show as he is well known for doing. The redmond and olympia pfs groups combining to save the lodge was epic as I have ever seen a game.

on a blooper note: :)
The only time I played with Mike Brock at the table, his fighter was dominated and I spent the fight admonishing myself for not prepping protection from evil, only to realize way to late that the reason I did not was the wand of it I had in a haversack. :(

for answer 2: your familiar can use the skill ranks its master has if they wish to do so. So your familiar has access to its own skill set and its masters.
For the class skill part, these become class skills so the familiar gets the additional 3 to add to any check it has to make per normal class skill bonus.
For example:
Familiar has 3 ranks in fly. fly is class skill. so it now gets 6 plus dex for fly check.
Master has 7 ranks in disable device. Provided familiar is capable of making such checks it would get 7 plus dex. With the pilferer archetype giving it disable device as a class skill, that would now be 10 plus dex.

for question 3: I am pretty sure that having that book is fine, however you would need access to stats for it.

Silver Crusade

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I am not sure about the order of the cockatrice required to have weapon focus.... however I guess it would only matter if you had something that added to intimidate checks when using it.
Basically, with the orders version of dazzling display you do not have to use a weapon for the check, you can still have a weapon of course, you just do not have to use that for your dazzling display.

I'm for letting it stand. If it truly somehow becomes a problem, it is simple to take it away. Just replace it with another trait. Not something people are likely to be able to build a character around.
With traits that allow you to add 4 when aiding another, use your int instead of cha for the better part of your interaction related checks, get a class skill with bonus to two skills, become proficient with a bow and ignore first range increment penalty, and so much more; I just don't see this one breaking the game which is the only reason I see for banning things. In my opinion of course.
Certain classes, feats, spells, etc have been banned for wrecking gameplay (I have 25 celestial eagles with 3 attacks each woo hoo!!!), not playing well with campaign style (wow your "friend" is useful... Yep our partnership started after I killed him.)
I say let it run. Sarenraes shining twins we can already retrain, raise from the dead on the societies dime, play assimar/tiefling/and others with practically our choice of stat arrays...
Play whatever you want.... But if you want to have class, play chelaxian :)

try simple green bathroom cleaner or things like it. It is what I use. However, I have not done that on PF minis, only DDM. So try a little before you douse and scrub with a toothbrush or the like.
Sometimes letting them soak in water with simplegreen makes it even easier to scrub off with brush.

Are you comfortable telling us what town or area you are in? Maybe some of us could see if there were groups we know of in your area. Google, paizo, pfs, etc. are good ways to find games.
Also you could try pbp. It is not as satisfying as sitting at a live game. But I have found that it can be fun, it will also help you learn more of the game. :)

Normally, replay is supposed to be pretty rare.
I on one hand think a pregen is a good idea, I also dislike the idea of players going crazy or disengaging from the party because it's a pregen.
I do however dislike turning people away from games or having not enough more than any possible negative side effect of replay.

I am going to provide this example not to discredit your complaint of gold expenditure, as it is your feelings on the matter, but to show you the norm at the spot I used to play it before moving.
Replay is rare but when it happens, people usually play their character again or with a different legal character but still for no gain. This is because they feel it is more fun for them and the party to bring a PC than a pregen. There is def a risk though and always at least a small loss of gold.
I can only remember replaying once to make a table legal. I used my character and he was obliterated by a GMs misinterpretation of how the rules worked. ( Three flame oracle flame strikes before any of us could act by one npc.)
I did not regret bringing my character. Paid my gold and prestige to be ressed and moved on. That is an extreme example of course and also a pretty good example of why using a pregen can be a good idea too.
Thankfully his familiar, sacred, was impervious to fire as imps are. On a funny note the players sheepishly asked if they could use my wizards gear. I said of course and they had fun time unwinding from the brutal encounter by spell crafting the meta rods and wands.

Not quite the same but...... I had a player who said his characters family was eaten by a zombie t-rex for a backstory. We have a pretty loose and fun style of playing when I gamed with that group.
When his character caught up with T-rex many levels later, he was swallowed whole and found himself fighting the zombified members of his family inside the t-rex.
Woot for the Paizo swallowed whole game mat tiles.
Good times.
I later went overboard and had the necro overlord creating huge monsters that held smaller undead and spit them out at the party with zombie breath weapons.

Happy the thread has stayed awesome. :)
I ran Curse of the Crimson Throne for my then girlfriend and her friends.
We ran out of time (weeknight for a couple hours type game), and it was pretty much their introduction to any sort of tabletop gaming period.
They elected to make an all paladin party, and pretty much punched the AP in the face. It was great times throughout its duration.
The paladins were alike but also very different, and this was before the expansion PF books came out.
I am trying to think of ways to explain more without spoilers.
Some of my examples will not exactly apply as I was unaware at the time that the deities had to be LG, or the clarification on that had not come out. One of the two, I would have let it slide anyway.
The Paladins were of desna, seranrae, abadar, irori, and sheyln. Sorry no torag.
The neatest part of the all paladin group was seeing five people to gaming play out their paladins with no interference from gaming stereotypes, habits, etc.
The funniest part was when they sent their mounts after one group and the paladins stayed and fought the other group. On the fly running a fight with the PCs and a separate fight with horses was awesome and hilarious.
The horses totally crushed the second group. To add to that, I was not sure how to run the horses. They had asked how the ACs worked and I showed them a couple of levels before they got the companions. To my surprise, they had created individual sheets for the horses, named them, armed and armored them, etc. I was blown away, in a good way. I am used to "I send my horse to flank", not "I send my stallion Benevolence after them, he will do the job."

^^This. Players used the equipment section on materials and devised ways to make gold rain from the heavens. Wall of Iron was one of those ways.
:)

I remember at a Norwescon I asked a panel of game designers what was one of the biggest mistakes they ever made when creating an encounter as a GM.
Erik Mona replied that he was not sure if it was the worst but it stuck out in his mind:
He had put in a trap that created a pool of metal spheres to crush the characters, but the players decided instead of continuing on to the rest of the adventure they would milk the trap for income.
