I need help. Anyone with the expertise and time to do this? I can send all the scans and files to anyone wanting to do it.
I did the easy part and thought "wow, I can make a character sheet!" until I started messing with my lack-luster software package (Microsoft works) and saw how lacking my skills are.

Help me Obi-Wan...your my only hope.

I am well experienced with Photoshop since I always have to do flyers for my danceclub. I'll attempt a character sheet and post them somewhere to get approval. I plan on using a standard 2 page (double-sided single) sheet but I just need to make sure I am not infringing on any copyright laws.

I'd like to do a nice little romp through some minor horror themed adventure to use with my kids. Think around 11. Naturally undead and vampires come to mind, but would like to see what others think.

The House on the Edge Of Midnight is a great short adventure from Dungeon Magazine #76 (the Sept/Oct issue)that takes place in an old manor house and, if I remember correctly, the antagonist/villian is a 12 year old girl! Creeped my players out!

How about a sorcerer/rogue/assassin with multiple personality disorder? A bard with amnesia? An OCD rogue? A paladin with ADD?
It’s the little quirks that make things interesting and often funny.

Of course they'll end up personalizing their characters more throughout the campaign. We're kinda new to 3.5 and the guys don't really grasp the whole prestige class thing yet. Thanks for the ideas though!

Hmm, my party seems pretty boring compared to everyone elses but we like the basics.

Male Human Bard (well known about town for his buffoonery)
Male Dwarven Cleric of Osprem (served as a healer aboard ships)
Male Half-elf Rogue (likes throwing things)
Female Half-elf Swashbuckler (The Lara Croft of the group and twin sister of the rogue)

It'd be an interesting house rule to associate skills with domains, though (althoguh this kinda robs those domains listed above of their "cool"). With this house rule, I'd suggest Water would grant Swim and Protection would grant Survival.

I just ended up giving him Swim as a free skill. He's a dwarven cleric that served on ships as a healer previous to his new adventuring career and figured he'd need swim for the campaign. Thanks for your help!

Extra skills from where? I won't say that having Swim, Survival, and perhaps Use Rope wouldn't make sense with for a cleric of a Sea god, but nothing in the Water domain grants any extra skills. However, if as DM you were to do so, balance would indicate that the player would then not receive the ability to turn fire creatures and rebuke water creatures.

Also - wilderness lore? You mean Survival, right?

TK

Sorry, we have 3.0 & 3.5 player handbooks floating around here. Anyway, under "domains and class skills" a cleric gets an extra skill or three depending on what domain they choose. So, what extra skills would a cleric of Osprem with the water and protection domains get?

As a side note I was wondering if anyone else turns the opening into a small party. I have had a tradtion were when I start a campaign to get the mood set, I will have themed music of the region and prepare several 'regional' dishes. Generally they are tradional English, Welsh, Spanish, or Asian dishes depending on the setting. Well it will be interesting and I think my Caribbean & Creole food should add a bit of ambiance while we create fortune told chars.

Cheers,
Supaidaa

Raw fish and grog would be an excellent choice of dish. Check out Maori/New Zealand native foods. Mmmmm. Hawaiian too!

Thanks, James! My players are making characters this very moment and I assume that each adventure will detail the locations when the players need to go to them.

Where online can I find the 3.5 info about creating a cleric of osprem? I need a list of domains, allowed weapons, skills, etc...

Thanks!

It's on the "Savage Tide Player's Guide"

They are supposed to make this a free pdf

OK, Thanks. I told my players we'd be starting the STAP today but I guess I'll cancel until I get that players guide. Sigh. I want them to have the necessary skills and feats the PCs are supposed to have as residents of Sasserine.

For those looking for music of the Pacific Islanders, I would suggest "Oceania" or "The Whale Rider" soundtrack, the latter performed by Lisa Gerrard of Dead Can Dance. Very ethereal.

"Finsternis" - E Nomine (Vampiric Techno for climactic battles)

Pirates o/t Carib. I & II (background music)

"Oceania" - Oceania (a CD of Maori/New Zealand native music with female vocals. For Wilderness treks & adventures)

"The Sounds of Babies Audio Recording" (when my player's characters get killed during each adventure)

Master and Commander Sndtrk. (Travels & Battles at sea, thanks for the idea!)

Finally got issue 139 and tore the plastic off like a 3 year old on Christmas morning! Anyway, the map has dozens of numbers in each district but no information in the magazine as to what these buildings are. I picked up Dragon #348 with the hope that the Savage Tidings article would have a key to the map. Nope. So, my question is; Where's the key to the locations on the map?

I would suggest starting your characters at 3rd level. Run the meeting with Ms V. and the encounter at the castle and the vault (adjusted to the PCs level). Then, Ms. Vanderboren could have gotten word from another group of adventurers about Penkus's death on Parrot Island which she can relay to your characters. Maybe Penkus has a map to the Thieves' Den on his body. Then the PCs can go straight there. Just omit most rooms in the thieves' den that don't have an encounter.

What is the Defensive Stance class ability for the Dwarven Defender Prestige Class? Does Zenith just stand there and not attack for 8 rounds? I cannot find what book it's listed in. Any help would be appreciated!

I've been DMing for 26 years now and other than saying "You die. Roll up another character." I tend to mutter, "Roll for initiative" quite often each game.

Funny thing is that I was just thinking about my Paizo name just a few minutes before seeing this post and was thinking about changing it to DungeonCollector because I spent years collecting back issues while playing 2nd Edition in the 90's.

Here's my side-trek idea:

After the heroes open the mysterious door situated in the back of the Bakery they see an orc guarding a piece of catastro pie in the middle of the 10' x 10' room.

the people of

That's what I love about this game! I've moved around the country quite a bit, usually never staying in the same city for more than 3 years except Milwaukee, WI (where I grew up and started playing in 1980), San Francisco, and now Denver where I've been for 8 years now. Every place I moved to I was always able to find a D&D group. I started with a group here in '99 and we're still campaigning with adventures from Dungeon Mag. The other group I DM for started in '02 and when we finally changed to 3rd ed. I picked up the Shackled City Hardcover. I've been running the SCAP for about 6 months now and we're only on the 4th adventure! We're _still_ trying to learn 3.5!

Can a monster that attacks with 2 claws and bite only make an attack with one claw as a standard action? Or can it use both claws as a standard action?

Cool, thanks! Luckily my local library has that book.

My players just (barely) defeated Gottrod the dragon and we ended the game at that point until next time. Now my players want to make armor, weapons, and clothing for each of their characters out of the dragon's hide and other parts. Where can I find info on making dragon (insert random body part here) items?

In 2e I kinda remember that only a shield or pair of boots could be made from a size L category dragon. Gottrod suffered many slashing attacks and a few lightning bolts from my party.

My players decided to call their party The Swords of the Black Lake. We don't know if there is an official name for the lake in the center of Cauldron. Anyone knows if there is?

Just starting Zenith Trajectory. I had all the players choose a local trait from the Character Creation section of the hardcover. Here's what we have now:

Human Fighter (Nobility)
Elven Sorcerer (Wyrm Blooded)
Half-Elven Rogue (Wyrm Blooded)
Human Cleric of Kord (none chosen)
Elven Female Ranger (none chosen but interested in joining Striders of Fharlanghn)

It looks like the girl playing the ranger has to quit the game due to her work hours and the cleric is played by the guy playing the fighter. So we have only 4 players in the group including me as the DM.

James Jacobs wrote:

Yes. It's called Savage Tide Player's Guide. It'll be initially available at Gen Con as a free bonus to anyone who buys or extends a subscription to either magazine, or to anyone else for five bucks.

Since I just ordered a subscription to Dungeon and my first issue will be sent on August 22nd, Is there a possibility of receiving a free copy of the S.T. Players Guide with my first issue? The whole reason I got a subscription was for the upcoming Savage Tide A.P. Luckily it looks like my first issue is the issue with the first S.T. adventure.

Thanks so much! That site is great! Lots of great info and maps.

My players just defeated the umber hulk at the beginning of Zenith Trajectory. One of my players, playing a 5th level ranger, needs to gain a couple levels to be even with the rest of the group who are all level 7. Another player, who is playing the rogue, will be out of town for the next couple weeks and the other players still want to play. My idea is to have the players present run monsters that the player of the ranger could fight/go up against. Possibly members of the Last Laugh? Any ideas?

Does anyone know where I get a map of the interior of the Cusp of Sunrise? The description of where the rooms are located in the hardcover is a bit confusing. I know that the central tower is the library/gathering hall but that's about all I get.

Hey, roll4 - if you don't mind, would'ye share some of those sites for paper models? I have all the WotC ones, of course, but you alluded to others...?

Here's some places to get you started. The FiddlersGreen site has some free ones -just search around a bit. Google "paper model buildings" and you'll find tons of stuff!

http://www.miniaturewargaming.com/index.php/mwg/category/Terrain%20Building s/

Being an experienced architectural model builder I found several sites, including WoC's, that supplies templates for cutout paper models of buildings. I basically recreated a 3D version of the neighborhood of Magma Ave. Northwest using various paper models. It took me a few weeks to build all the models but was my gaming group ever surprised to see 3D buildings rather than squares & rectangles drawn on a battle mat! And I'm still building more buildings and other various structures for the riot scene in a later SC adventure. At the rate I'm going I'll probably end up with enough buildings for a scale model of the entire city of Cauldron!

We are about to finish Life's Bazaar and my player's PCs have been crashing on Keygan's floor in the workroom. Keygan is getting a little annoyed with a group of adventurers dirtying up the room so I have been hinting to the players that since it is a rather large city, there are houses & apartments for rent as well as abandoned houses that they could squat in and eventually buy in the future.

I have put in a lot of thought as to how the confrontation would happen. I decided to add the Challenge of Champions IV (Dungeon #91) as one of the Flood Season games and have the Stormblades score perfect. Then we'll see the pretzles & stew flying when the PCs find out who won!

All went well when I ran the encounter last week. When Vhalantru showed up after the battle with Kaz & crew, one PC was dead (the sorcerer). Vhalantru demanded the boy, who was in shock of seeing such a vile monstrosity, so Terram remained silent. My players did begin to ask questions but I just read them what he says upon arrival, he floated on over to Terram and Poof! Disappeared. Luckily my players know what a beholder is and the power they have. I know, Metagaming. But at least they didn't try to fight him!

LMAO! Thanks! I forgot about him teleporting in.

Why is Vhalantru concerned about the wellfare of Terrem? There is nothing written about why he must be returned to the orphanage in the first adventure. My players are in the Malachite Fortress and are about to enter the slave bazaar. They like to ask NPCs alot of questions and since Vhalantru does not want to hurt the party he will be assaulted with vollies of questions about Terrem or "Why doesn't the beholder just waste us now?". They may even promise Vhalantru that they will escort Terrem safely to the orphanage. Would Vhalantru object to this offer?

OK, i am new to 3.0/3.5 but can paladins really be chaotic good?

Mr. Peepers wrote:

Human Paladin of Freedom 2 (CG, worships Kord)

This group is very chaotic and heavily neutral. Only the Pali cares about the kids; everyone else just wants Jenya's gold!

Human Fighter with ties to nobility in Cauldron
Human Cleric of Kord
Elven Sorcerer (Wyrm Blooded)
Human Rogue (also Wyrm Blooded)

They are about halfway through Life's Bazaar and this is our first time playing 3.5 so it's going kinda slow. Unfortunately I showed my players Libris Mortis that I got from my library and now they're kinda bending towards playing evil PCs! This is my biggest fear when running a campaign! I was a bit worried when they all chose chaotic neutral for their alignments. At least the Cleric is chaotic good.
