GAH! This explains my missing strip in 354. Now I have no humor with which to propitiate the howler monkeys outside my window. The horror. The HOR-ROR.
Well crap; he'll be missed. In the mean time, I'll have to pick up the compilation for my wife and me. Is it just me or does drawing for Dragon continually seem to drive artists to the brink of ruin? How very Lovecraftian.

Her points may be quite valid: It is possible that the late night gaming is interfering with his work, maybe they have young children and she wants a break or would like him to see them off to bed, or maybe she's just lonely in the evening. That being said, personally I think this hints at deeper relationship problems. He needs to sit down and talk a while with his wife and explain to her that this is something he really enjoys, and he would love (or maybe he wouldn't, some people need space) to get her involved if what she really wants is to feel included. He also needs to hear her out, maybe she has interests she would like to pursue but can't, and is annoyed to see him enjoying himself while she is "stuck" at home, per se. It is entirely possible that she has feelings of jealously towards the game, and feels slighted at the attention he lavishes on a game instead of spending time with her. If they could do it together, he could still play AND it would be "together time." I'm one of the few lucky souls with a hardcore gamer wife, and even she can get tired of it once in a while. I believe a recent quote while I was up watching "Return of Mothra 3" was, "Jesus Mike, why can't you just watch porn like other husbands?" Then again, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, and not a modron polymorph-any-object'd into a cigar.
I recommend "Wreck Ashore," the free adventure by Robert Wiese, available on WoTC's site. Good stuff, and much like the Age of Worms campaign starter, it gives industrious players a chance at a base of operations.
No Dagon on the cover, but there is a nice scary, full-page pic of him to the left of his bio.
I was lucky enough to be digging through my eBay packages this morning and found out that the new issue had come a couple of days ago and my wife had forgotten to mention it. As I'm lying in bed reading it, the description of the encounter with the demon had me rolling. I laughed so hard I woke my 5' pregnant Irish wife out of sleep (an angry demon of a different variety). The article was so amusing that not only did she not suffocate me after I read it to her, but it had us both laughing so hard we could barely breathe. Nice save!

Thanks for the answer on the Shadows, btw. I figured if I didn't hear back I'd just guestimate based on the caster level. I love Dungeon, it even added a new word into my vocabulary recently (shibboleth). I was especially impressed by the sneaking in of "vermillion" this issue. No worries, to err is humanoid (augmented subtype).

Typically I have found Dungeon to be a superior product, well written and superbly edited. Unfortunately, everyone has an off day, and even being only halfway through Issue 140 I've already found three fairly glaring errors:
1. On page 38, in the description of the Bullywug huntress, it says if attacked, she rages and fights to the death, followed almost immediately by the tactics section telling us she isn't stupid enough to fight to the death and surrenders.
2. On page 65, in the sidebar describing the "Tapestry of Midnight," the number of Shadows the owner can control before they become unruly was omitted.
3. Lastly (and honestly, what prompted me to write this), on page 41, it states that Lamiae is unarmed ("loosing her dagger to Chunks' hunger"). Falling short of actually having thrown her dagger into its maw, I believe it would be "losing." Normally I'd recommend giving someone pedantic enough to point this out a good, swift kick in the crotch, but I see this error constantly online these days, and seeing it reprinted in a beloved issue of Dungeon figuratively made my flesh crawl!
In light of these errors, I formally submit myself as an uncompensated assistant fact and error checker, in order to obtain a copy before anyone else, errr; I mean...help maintain...quality standards. Right-o!
Small problems aside, keep up the fantastic work!
Yeah, I have both the last Dragon and the PHB2. I'm a big fan of the new affiliations system; just really wondering if I buy the LGJ4 is if I'm going to end up with a nice page write-up of the seekers, or if it'll be like a sentence or two. Though, the Tyrg entry in the Dungeon 112 .pdf did make up for the lack of Seeker background.
I bought the .pdf of Dungeon 112 from the Paizo site hoping for a more flushed out rundown of the organization (the one from the last Dragon was decent, but I'm always on the lookout for more), as I'm planning on using the Seekers heavily in the campaign my wife is in. Sadly, no go. Just a bunch of stat blocks where "Seeker" could be replaced by "npcX." Can anyone that has the Living Greyhawk Journal #4 tell me what kind of overview on them I might expect before I shell out for it? Thanks much! ;)
Rock on! I have perfect credit, and I'm still a total PayPal whore.
James Keegan wrote: Just as an anecdote, the spirit naga room went quite well for my group. Rather than money, the party's henchman, Keth, employed his Perform (gangster rap) skill in tandem with Brother Seamus' Perform (human beatbox) skill. The naga was impressed.
"Proper!", remarked the naga.
And he was right.
This is quite possibly the funniest quote I've seen in ages. This belongs in a sig somewhere.
James Jacobs wrote: Sorcerers & Wizards get d6 hit dice in Erik's campaign. That's downright kickin'. Beats always taking prestige classes for extra hit points (though I'm still a huge fan of Divine Oracle).
Interesting: Extremely lucky rolls, or do you get max hit points per level due the difficulty of the campaign?
