Nope, DX is out of my income bracket (not to mention honking huge). This feed is in my google reader subscription. ;)

Har har. ;) Works like a champ (take that work firewall)! Have to use the advanced browser, which smashes the page into a smaller size, but it's workable.

Checking message board functionality from new Kindle.

It took long enough, but my new Kindle is finally in the mail. I anticipate I’ll have it in a week, probably another week to learn to use it, and maybe another week to catch up on the game, but if you are all still around and interested, I haven’t forgotten. Sorry for the long “delay of game!”

Still keepin' it real, yo?

...they were cutting large (important) pieces of my neck out. I haven’t been around much lately due to financipocalypse making work busier than ever for those of us left, but I thought I’d take a moment to stop by and say thank you to everyone.

I really appreciate all the patience, kind words, thoughts, and prayers sent in my direction last year during my cancer (and other) surgeries. Your time did not go unappreciated! Still not 100% who I used to be, but I’m alive and chugging right along, so good deal.

Actually, it's halfway between both and neither.

Ran out of time to type what I wanted, but I sympathize. Few people have the capacity to cause pain in the way a bad dentist can.

Matthew Morris wrote:
And how are their rights to do that being 'stripped'?

Because "Group A" gets free stuff for the same right. $5 says the next referendum removes the right to vote or own property from "the gays."

Emperor7 wrote:
Isn't that what a marriage license is? I had to get mine from the county.

So did I, but the county has a habit of snubbing "Group B" out of marriage licenses, so you have to take them away from everyone if it's going to be fair. Let marriage be religious, but bereft of government status, if the word is what's holding things up.

Samuel Weiss wrote:

That is precisely why the government should get out of the marriage business.

It establishes the supremacy of the civil authority in all areas regarding domestic partnerings of any sort, as well as immunizing religions against government interference in determining how their sacraments are defined.
Then when the First Church of b%*~-Buddies declares they will only perform same-sex marriages and will never recognize opposite sex marriages, any other church that wants to file suit in court claiming a violation of their religious rights can be told to sod off in short order.

I'm due for bed in ten minutes, which is probably why this isn't making any sense to me. Can you explain it from another angle?

I dunno... Good news, though: she plays D&D.

Don't rush things, you'll scare her off, but just keep this in the back of your head: Marry this woman.

I got your please right here!

The problem with the “get government out of the marriage business” route, is that a “civil partnership” is NOT equality. The word “Marriage” has connotation, power. If you start issuing civil partnerships, then every married couple that wants legal standing must also apply for a civil partnership license.

It sickens me to watch a majority declare a minority group “deviant” and strip away their rights. If two consenting adults want to spend the rest of their lives in a loving, monogamous relationship, more power to them.

Cool deal, seriously sucks having to even ask. Suzuki notified me last night they have my forms for the rebate check, so I'm halfway there. Been a crazy start to the year, haven't even touched our business yet, got like $800 worth of product sitting next to me, grrr.

Male Humanoid Expert 2 / Magewright 1

Much as it pains me, it might be in eveeryone's best interest to shelve Rennet until my Kindle arrives. :(

ROFL. That's one of those "grim and bear it" deals; apparently gramps has been in cryogenic stasis the last 8 years (no offense against your bloodline and all).

I though silver was bad for werewolves?

I've kept a $2 bill and a $1 Silver Certificate in my wallet the last 15 years, not the best place for them but it's an OCD thing.

Male Humanoid Expert 2 / Magewright 1

Glad the move went well, sounds like you have always liked NY better anyhow. I'm plodding my way through the spoilers (think I'm about halfway through page 17 now), feel free to do whatever needs to be done until I can catch up. Have to bathe and do something about that spicy chiken sandwich I just ate, then try to get a few hours of sleep.

The stimulus package gets so much hype, it makes you want to get fired so you can get benefits and a sweet construction job.

Curses! I missed my chance to blame it on the new guy. Still here, still sloggin' away.

I wonder if any of this was triggered by FICO08, or just more financipocalypse? I keep pretty close tabs on our credit rating and credit card rates. Our Chase Visa jumped to over 13% (fricking not happening), so I paid 95% of it off and just stick to the debit and the Discover (5%) now. Once it's 100% paid off, I'll probably ask them to lower it, or simply let it rot (closing account = bad for credit score).

I'm sure they bank millions on the idea customers simply won't notice. Kind of rude, to be honest, like the "men are stupid pigs" commercials.

I loathe activating the replacement cards (stupid plastic always breaks), as calling in means they'll simply try to sell me crap I don't want. Last call I walked away while they prattled on for eight minutes on speakerphone. I finally came back after two frantic "are you theres?" They got the message. I'm also not a fan of these crappy "miles" cards they shove on me. It just means vendors have to raise prices to make up for lower percentages off each transaction.

Treat the .lit files just like .pdf's, and shove them in some folder where you will remember them.

Many epochs ago, when the world was still cooling, the great State of Michigan volunteered me for "reeducation," before kindly issuing me a green license with no picture (I like to get where I'm going in as short a time as possible). Although I resented it mightily, it was enlightening, and to this day I still tap my breaks to alert fellow drivers before coming to a complete stop.

I fear for us all as the drivers of my age group grow older. The bygone era of the meatgrinder driver's ed.

As amusing as I find it, I'm surprised someone hasn't tried to apply one of the new "anti-terror" laws to the perpetrators. I'm equally surprised the news aggregator blogs published the passwords.

Have you seen "The Mangler?"

Just got a company wide e-mail two days ago: No merit raises this year.

Relationship with my wife is on a high note.

Still have a decent job.

It's bad; financapololypse everywhere you look. Everything is on sale, but who has any money to buy it? Buying a car when jobs are on shaky ground scares the hell out of me. Took a lot of legwork, but we managed to get a great rate thanks to how anal we are about our credit.

Sorry, Gary. One of our cats (the female) had really bad teeth (we're softies and have a habit of picking up formerly abused pets), so the "momma's boy" cat used to eat way too much and throw up all over so that she could eat the softer food (like a Roman Vomitorium, but for cats). It's horrifying, but endearing in a way to see that kind of love and kindness. They both passed on within the last few years due to tainted cat food, leaving us with the two tabbies. There's a lot less puke around, but I'd trade back in a second.

Just dropping a quick line in both PBP discussion threads:

Sorry about the lack of updates, they laid a few people off at work and it has been crazy, not to mention even if I could get extra time there, the new routing prevents me from hitting the boards (the boards being down all the time hasn’t helped, either).

I’m working on the problem though, and hope to be able to start updating again soon. Option A is getting an AT&T cellular modem, but in order to justify the cost I’d have to drop my subscription, which offends my sensibilities (stopping payment on a company’s product so I can pay another company to make use of company 1’s free services). Option B might take a couple of weeks, but I’ve been thinking of getting a Kindle for a while and using the EV-DO browsing as there is a Sprint repeater over my head.

We finally closed on a new AWD vehicle, and I have a rebate check coming from it, I just have to try justifying buying something for myself when what we really need is a new roof. Ah well, just letting everyone know I’m still here and thinking about you! Sorry for the delay.

Truthfully? I think it's the teeth. Not because people in the UK have poor dental hygiene, but because Americans are fixated on super-straight nuclear smiles. Just look at the British performers who work for American television. Nuclear smiles. I love watching British television simply because the people look normal. Just part of the reason I loved Catherine Tate as a Doctor Who companion; she was an "anyperson."

Sorry about the death in the family. How odd, we were in Flint on Sunday as well. My wife's family met at BD's Mongolian Barbeque for her mother's birthday. Nasty driving, but awesome experience at the restaurant.

I'm still lurking about, in case anyone is worried. Rotten weather coupled with a single vehicle that sucks in rotten weather is eating up my play time as of late. Got a line on 5.5% financing and have a quote on a AWD vehicle, so hopefully remedied soon.

As for the eye, I'm fine either way (the ripping or the remaining). His primary focus is to wail on Vanthus, so provided you don't deviate too far from that goal, shouldn't be a real conflict, though he might have a few behavioral "suggestions" here and there. If you do end up removing it forcibly...eh, we'll work something out to get you another eyeball or eyeball equivalent. Can't have you running about without depth perception now!

I'm getting to almost the one year mark on being cancer free, so I feel for you. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, is my best advice. Show it who's boss!

Oh, and it's fraenulum (though fraenum / frenulum are interchangeable). I have a short one under my tongue (frenulum linguae); it's a bummer for language and love, but you take what you're given.

Agreed. I've been thinking of a few other minor deviations as well to line everything up. Not a reboot, just a few pokes in the butt wih a sharp stick.

Male Humanoid Expert 2 / Magewright 1

I SAW that! Much awesomeness; I'm just waiting until he heals to move over the details.

I'd totally pick up Latvia, but I think I'd see if they would haggle down to an even 10 (stupid OCD) first.

Just once I'd love to see a president tell the backers to stuff it and spend inauguration day feeding the homeless instead.

True, hate is really too strong of a word. It implies effort. Let's call it love's polar opposite, indifference, instead.

Male Humanoid Expert 2 / Magewright 1

Great news. I think I'm finally all settled as well and will get my crap in gear post haste.

Nice to meet you NecroticBanana. We're nearing the close of this Chapter, but depending on what happens next and what the other players think, we may be able to write you an "in."
