I guess it's all a matter of personal taste. I love the downer-style artwork. I liked it in the back-of-Dungeon articles and I like it in Pathfinder. Hopefully they'll split the difference and satisfy everyone.

Okay. So. The elf's ears are a *bit* long. Ehhh, what's up doc? *crunch* ;)

I can live with it though. Guess that's what elves look like hereabouts. I just hope the halflings have furry feet and don't travel the countryside in carts 'cuz I'm tired of that trip. :)

Well, I don't know from manga but if Wayne Reynolds is manga then I say give me more. His style is one of the things that has really helped the Eberron setting come alive for me. Ditto, it seems, for Pathfinder. Can't say I have any problem with any of the other Pathfinder art either, for that matter.

I tend to like the *really* exaggerated styles a little less (chibi, etc.) but it doesn't have to be Boris for my tastes.

His name is not actually "little bottles" - more like "small peace". That was used mockingly by those that weren't very happy about his crackdown at Tiananmen (well, maybe before too, but I don't know about that). The characters for "little bottles" sounds like his name so it was a Chinese play on words. That's why I jokingly mentioned it - sounds vs. meaning. Nevermind. It wasn't a very good joke anyway. :)

Actually - Chinese choose names for their children very carefully, taking meaning into account above all things, not sounds. Most Americans I know choose the name becasue they like the sound, or it is tradition in the family and meaning comes last if at all. To Chinese names mean a lot and are approched much differently than they are here in the west.

Yes, yes. I imagine the Deng "little bottles" XiaoPing would agree with you wholeheartedly. ;)

Hi all,
Interesting discussion. I don't agree with the premise that made up 'asian' names need to be any more authentic (or linguistically correct) than made up 'european' names (notice the quotes?).

I speak Chinese and though Mr. Logue no doubt put some thinking into 'Tian Xia' I would have been just as happy if he had used completely nonsensical 'Chinese-sounding' syllables.

More happy, possibly. At least if they were made up I wouldn't have to hear people slaughtering real Chinese syllables :) or feel any need to try to correct them.

Just joking, of course. I wouldn't actually correct anybody on their pronunciation of 'Chinese-sounding' names in a fantasy milieu - BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT CHINESE!!!!

Heh. Sorry. Failed my will save at the last minute there. ;)

Great customer service testimonial. Little things like this mean a lot. It doesn't hurt that the company is pretty responsive to order questions and so on. Now, if we can just have a little talk about not bending battle mats for shipping :) (just kidding, BTW, mine flattened out just fine with a little warm water). Nice work Paizo. More money for you - I'm sure I can find something to buy in the next week or so.

Wow. Even looked up my order for me. Thanks for the service! :) I should have ordered it separately so I could use it for my next game. Ah well it should be worth the wait.

Edit: Y'all be sure to save me one! ;)

Hi all. I was placing an order last night and noticed that these no longer say 'back order' so I threw one in my cart. It's showing in my order as 'pending' like the rest of my physical items. So, just wanted to know if anyone can confirm that these are indeed in-stock and will be shipping as indicated? Been waiting a long time to get my hands on one of these. :)

Hi all,
Just got Pathfinder #1 in the mail yesterday (got the download a few days ago) and I wanted to say thanks to Paizo for choosing to make this such a high print quality product. My wife says she'll bug me less for spending $20 a month on it - she thought it was a magazine and I was happy to be able to show her otherwise. Cheers!

Hi all,
Just got my notice this afternoon and downloaded the PDF this evening (after running our ongoing EtCR campaign session). The module is really quite good. Nice production values and I love the goblin flavor. The goblin song is *sweet* - too bad I can't sing (even in an 'orrible goblin voice). I'm gonna love running this some day.

Only sadness is that I don't seem to have a download link for the player's guide. Anyone know what's up with that? You all get yours?

Can't wait for the print copy. Nice going Paizo. We'll see what happens with WoTC and Dungeon and Dragon - but you guys are going to get a nice sized chunk of my gaming dollars over the next few years.

Cheers,
M
