By the way, are we allowed to buy "customized" items, like a weapon with a specific material and enchantments? Because that would fit the category of powergaming I believe.

Even better, it would be nice to give us a more detailed explanation of what exactly you consider to be powergaming so we know this stuff when we make our characters, because level 18 is pretty powerful and there are a lot of options for character building.

Thanks in advance :D

Will do a two weapon fighter half elf, one of the deadliest masters of the blade to ever walk the lands :D

Mmmm high level stuff sound tasty... Color me interested :D

I got a question about the feat deflect arrows. Seeing as how arrows are probably not going to be used very often, could I use this feat to deflect projectile attacks from blasters and such? It would be cool to be able to deflect them jedi style, and it would fit the monk class in this setting nicely I think.

The insect monk will be lawful neutral most probably, reflecting the training of his former masters. He is still learning about the world, so will not have much to say about piracy or whatever the direction will be, as long as it does not involve mindless slaughter his species tends to incorporate.

Btw GM are you okay with the custom race ?

So I was thinking of a somewhat familiar concept of an insectoid race of fierce warriors, ruled by a hivemind, which expands and devours through the universe. The character I had in mind would be a member of this race, but with a catch: after an invasion gone wrong, his killing squad is wiped out and somehow he managed to barely survive, but now he is cut off from the hive and stuck on an alien world. His sentience and self awareness soon kicks in, making him realize the actions of his race and what it means to be an individual. Alone and confused, he wanders the planet for days, until he stumbles upon an isolated mountain range which is inhabited by a mysterious sect of monks. The monks find him lying near death, and decide to help him, as they do not have prejudice against any race. At this solitary place the insect-like hero is confused about his saviors, and a deep struggle between his old instincts and newfound sentience appears. The monks help him with his crisis, and in time take him under training of their ways of clarity of mind. Moar to follow.

Concept of race:

type: aberration 3rp
size: medium
speed: normal speed
ability scores: specialized 1 rp +2 str +2 dex -2 cha
language: standard
traits:
fearless 1 rp
quadruped 2 rp
darkvision 120 ft. 3 rp
climb 2 rp
quick reactions 2 rp
stalker 1 rp
natural armor 2 rp

Not sure about the race, I wanted to make it a bit more powerful but in line with an insectoid-like race, suggestions are welcome!

Very nice, will have a full character as soon as possible :D

I'm dotting with Aramil, an elven rogue, heading towards the assassin route in the future probably.

backstory:

Aramil was sentenced to death by beheading after murdering an influential noble, who was after him for some time, due to him stealing a certain valuable from the rich man's possession. His motivation for the crime was simple: kill or get killed. Unfortunately for his escape, he was tracked down by a wizard, friend of the deceased noble, and condemned to swift justice. He is now awaiting his punishment at the prison, cursing his luck and the damned nobles who refuse to part with their belongings.

personality:

His interests lie in obtaining wealth, mostly trough material means. He cares little for the common people, and especially despises the rich and powerful, for his life was a path of misery and exile, one caused by such people. He learned to trust only himself, and to follow his own goals, no matter the cost.

I'll have the crunchy bits by tomorrow, and a more fleshed out story.

Dotty dot dot

Well you could take the extra money campaign trait ;)

Doting for a half elf inquisitor, will have the crunch tomorrow.

Sounds very cool, sign me up for interest.

I think I'll go with a halfling rogue with the trapsmith archetype. Will finish the crunch and story tomorrow

Can we use the traits from the guide? I'm thinking of a fighter or similar martial class for frontline fighting

doting for sure, I'm really interested in the emerald spire dungeon, so many possibilities ! :D

Fckin sweet! Will finish up my PC today.

2 questions:

can my ape companion carry a backpack(he has 3 int) to hold my stuff?

if my hd are d6, when i take average hp, is the die 3 or 4?

moar story:
I've named the protagonist Andrezi. His skin is of a slightly darker hue, with black eyes, but he draws more from his colonist heritage than a native. His hair is a braided black.

At a young age his mother recognized his magical talents, and taught him in the arts that her ancestors passed down from generations. She also was a very kind and gentle person, and much of this he inherited on his character, albeit being impulsive at times, and not giving much heed to authority.

This opposition to authority lead him to ignore his mothers wishes (due to the fact that she was trying to hide him from the eyes of the Sargavans) and explore the streets of his hometown, Eleder. But the city itself did not interest him as much as the jungle, as he always felt a strange connection to it, sometimes almost hearing the jungle calling for him.

When he finally dared to venture into the forest, a whole new world opened for him. He felt at home. And although his magical ability was arcane in nature, he also possessed a certain divine connection to nature, often times roaming alone for hours, exploring. But the jungle holds its own dangers, and on one such occasion young Andrezi was attacked by a preying panther. He tried to use some minor tricks he knew, and used his small size and quickness to try to escape, but it was not enough, and the panther cornered him to a tight spot. Andrezi stood there, facing the panther, fear in his eyes. Just as the cat was about to leap at him, an ape jumped the panther from a tree above, biting and slashing at it with his claws. Soon the attacker was fleeing, and Andrezi has gained a new friend, one who will in time become his faitful friend and protector.

Nobody knew about his friend, not even his mother, although she suspected something was fishy, but she also knew that somebody was protecting her son on his adventures in the forest. This was enough for her.

When he was drafted into the military, meeting with his companion became more difficult, as the city folk and the Sargavans would react poorly to having an ape in court, but he always managed to find the opportunity to meet with his friend.

As he grew older, he exhibited more and more influence over people, and his magical aptitude grew in training. Soon he would become a higher ranking officer, commanding a small force of magically gifted casters, joining expeditions into the wild and aiding them in missions. This also gave him the opportunity to join his father on a few missions, and using his own and his father's influence he managed to secure his animal companion aid while in the wilds.

Any feedback for me? :D

I would love to try the dragonrider, tho it may be a bit too op, but I'm sure we could tweak something if required, and I'm sure I could come up with a pretty good story. (would use good dragons ofc, or maybe even evil with a neutral dragonrider for a twist hmhm). Your thoughts gm?

Idea:
I really want to play a badass sorcerer! So, I've come up with a chaotic good, human, sylvan sorc with the enemy of my enemy trait. Seeing as how the setting is jungle based, this fits in nicely I think.

He grew up in the slums of Sargava, his mother a native and father a Sargavan colonist. Their relationship was kept a secret, because his father was a high ranking scout master in the Sargavan military, while his mother was just another low-life native in the eyes of the government. However, the father saw something interesting in her (later it would turn out she had a certain connection to nature, as her ancestors were tribal witches and shamans, before they were purged from those lands). they managed to keep their love a secret, and eventually, the yet unnamed protagonist was born.

As he grew older it was becoming increasingly difficult for his parents to maintain their relation in secret, and our young protagonist barely knew his father. His mother raised him with the values of both of his heritages, eventually realizing that the boy possessed extraordinary abilites and a fine connection with nature, often treading alone in the nearby jungles(against her wishes), and always returning unharmed. Somewhere around this time he meets his animal companion, which I still need to decide upon.

A critical moment happens when a political enemy of his father discovers through spies about his secret life, and about the interesting powers of his child. He then blackmails him, threatening to uncover the truth unless his son is brought into military training, into the ranks of a special team of magically inclined spies/scouts/assassins.

Reluctantly, he is forced to accept the deal, as he is involved in an almost decade long battle against the cult of Nergal, which operates from the jungle and is a long-time threat to the whole region. They were very close to finally making a crushing blow against this fiendish enemy, and he did not want to fail, being so close to the goal.

And so, my character is forcefully brought into service, and there trained in the arts of subterfuge and combat. But at least he got the chance to see and speak to his father at times, when their military duties met. Here is where he found out about the demon Nergal and his corruption on nature and people, and he found this to go against his innate senses. Eventually they actually served together in several raids and interventions.

But this bliss did not last for long, as his father's scouting party was ambushed by a powerful cultist and his minions, during one of their routine patrols. It would have been a somewhat easy battle for them, until the powerful cultist unleashed a summoning spell, which brought upon them a horde of fiends, ultimately slaying them all.

This was a crushing blow to our young protagonist, and soon after he found out that his father was set up by his enemies in the government, and that they were in lieu with the same cultists they were supposed to fight. Enraged and disappointed, he left the military, as he was old enough and had certain connections which allowed him to leave unharmed. His mother was devastated, and for a time he contemplated on his next move, his heart full of anger and a wish to avenge his father.

Somewhere around here his connection to the story can be made, with him finding out about the goddess, igniting his desire to fight and unleash punishment on the forces of evil.

Ofc this is rough draft of the story, still a lot of details to be covered, whaddya think? :D

Dot, will think of smth tomorrow ;)

Group 2 filled up?

Considering to make a necromancer cleric since he would fit in nicely wit the current party ( undead yum yum ), maybe a bit of back story inspired by the carrion crown campaign and some personal story in the mix. Not sure on the details still, but just the scene of us running around in an airship full of undead minions sounds like fun ( zombie bombs come to mind ).

I would like your feedback on the idea so I know if I can develop a char ;)

Greetings pplz, I'm kinda new to this online play but I would be happy to try out! If you could maybe give me some information on what I need to do and how the campaign will work? I'm pretty familiar with Pathfinder rules etc., just need some guidelines :D
