Actually I disagree with you here, I think that a wizard 10/fighter 10 should be mechanically disparate from a fighter 10/wizard 10. These are people who have different backgrounds and trained differently.

I do however agree that there is a mechanical advantage to starting out a rogue to a fighter at second level than vise versa when you multiclass, but that first level plays differently doesn't it, in the long run yes you are "punished" but the short term benefits are where the issue arises.

As to skills, skill points are my favorite function of 3.5 I agree that as a DM skill points are annoying, but as a player I love them and the simplest thing to do would just be create a different system that applies to NPCs and shorten the skill list as they have already begun to do. Personally keeping skillpoints would be the only real draw to switch to pathfinder, if they got rid of them, I would if I don't switch to 4E just stay with 3.5 and incorporate the rules i like.

I started a similar thread for this, but this one has more momentum so... I'm opposed to healing being an ability for combat I think it should be scaleable and never quite as good as healing magic, I like the proposed ten minute time frame and once per encounter (or incident of injury if hurt in non-encounters like falling or traps).

About revivification, I agree it should be something at a very high dc 30-40 that has to be done as a full round action within 10 rounds of a character dying and success should bring them to -9 with (and this is my key point) re-rolls possible as long as the dead character has been dead less than 10 rounds. I like the idea of someone taking time out of combat to revive a character and not giving up just cause it failed the first few rolls. very cinematic

Can we please have rules that allow players to use heal checks to recover a certain amount of HP after each encounter? that way clericless groups aren't so dependant on wands and potions etc. You can create a pretty simple on that doesn't allow for a full recovery, say a set DC and you recieve 1/4 to 1/2 the damage recieved in an encounter back. No rerolls, and no one person binds the wounds crapily so next guy comes in and re-rolls to bind better. I mean I would like to have that skill actually get some use in game once in a while.

Oh but hey, mind e-mailing me those rules so I can see em for myself? I'll PM you my e-mail on the other board

I don't know, I find the skill system pretty capable of handling the objectives of a social encounter without necessarily needing a whole new ruleset. First of all you need to get rid of static DCs on certain skill checks like diplomacy (well tumble or I guess athletics now to move through threatened areas also, but thats not social so back on topic) Diplomacy should be an opposed roll not a static DC, and it should never be able to move a person more than a single step at a time. but you should also be able to use subterfuge rolls to help but a failed subterfuge should merely give a modifier to the diplomacy check, not result in a failed encounter. Oh, but I am in the camp of giving XP for succesfully navigated social encounters.

PS heya Wrecan nice to see you on a new forum how are the MDMCs coming?

Is there going to be a conersion to 4e posted? I'm interested in buying but with 4e on the way I'm a little nervous if they aren't easily transferable, (not saying it would be hard to make my own houserules, but I'm lazy sometimes...)

Will the rules be for use with 3e or 4e of D&D? if 3e will you be posting for download a conversion ruleset so that they can be used with 4e?
