So now I would recommend that everyone in the Thursday group consider what you would like to do next. Martin recommended going back to my game, which I would be totally cool with, but Abe said he didn't want to play it with eight players (too many.) If we are not going to play my Greyhawk game, then what are we going to do? Or should we try to go ahead and play my game. I know a lot of you are ready to revisit your characters and see what they are up to. If you look at the stat block, it shows the hit points as "N/A." Thus, it doesn't matter how much damage you do in a single round, this opponent can't be killed. For flavor, it might be kinda cool to have him have total instant regeneration, but this would not be necessary. If you dropped him in a vat of acid, he would eventually just swim out. The idea here is to get the players to think outside the box. They have to trap or imprison him, or they have to find his heart and destroy it. You do have a good point about there being too many players all in one game. Sometimes it is an hour between turns for one person in a combat. Two smaller games would alleviate this problem... But on the other side of the coin, most of the group probably feels much like I do--I really don't want to miss anything! I want to play in your campaign, I want to play in Martin's campaign, and I want to finish my campaign. I also would like to run a few playtesting sessions for the New and Awesome-looking Pathfinder RPG. We should probably put the whole thing to a vote. I also feel, that in the interest of fairness, that if we do split into two groups we draw randomly to determine who is in which group. We might also be able to "pick teams" like in grade-school kickball, but I would feel bad for the last person picked. Just my $.02 worth. P.H. Dungeon wrote: Yeah, I don't really get it either. Has wizards' staff been coming by people's houses to drag them out and make them buy all the new books they put out? Why do people get angry about them adding new books to support their prodcut? If you like it enough you buy it, if you don't you keep your money in your wallet; what's hard about that? I think many players are upset by the fact that books they would want to buy will no longer be produced. Just a side note: Has anyone else noticed that a majority of posters over on the Gut Check thread that say they will stop purchasing Paizo products if Paizo doesn't convert to 4ed aren't subscribers? Or that the majority of subscribers want Paizo to stay 3.5? Those little descriptors next to the posters names say a lot about the posters. It seems to me that many of the 4ed defenders only recently showed up on these boards, and many of them weren't Paizo customers. Is there a site somewhere that is telling folks, "They're not jumping on the 4ed bandwagon over there at Paizo. Get over there and change their minds!" Lord Zeb wrote:

I actually was not addressing anyone directly. I simply remember a time when these boards were among the most civil discussion boards on the net. The recent tendency of posters flaming other posters for their opinions needs to be reversed. And, bugleyman, I must say that your apology is certainly a step in the right direction and shows that you are a person of character. I applaud you for this. crosswiredmind wrote:
This is a public forum, and everyone is welcome to their opinion. Dismissing those opinions as irrational or intolerable is, in my opinion, somewhat rude. Name calling is not justifiable simply because their opinions differ from yours. If that is the reason he doesn't want to play 4th edition, than I am glad that he expressed it. He should be allowed to do so without ridicule. Erik Mona wrote:
1. No. 2. Hard to say. I like Paizo very much, but I don't know how useful any 4th ed. products would be to my game. 3. In no way at all. I will still continue to purchase every module you release. farewell2kings wrote: We just switched to 3.5 in 2005 and we have three campaigns yet to play under that rule set (AoW, STAP and Ptolus) with three different DMs ready to run them that 4th edition is something we'll adopt in 3-5 years, probably. By that time, you may be able to jump directly to 5th Edition. Aberzombie wrote: I almost feel bad about posting Preview 4 as it contains two new monsters (new to me anyway) which I assume are part of the 4E game. For my part they are both "meh". I kinda like the far realm thing, and I hope that it is a harbinger of an aboleth mini (since it said in the description that aboleth could communicate with it.) That being said, I think the undead demon looks silly. All of my players seem to have a good time playing with the 3.5 rules system. There were no complaints at all, until one of them got the SW Saga rules--now he thinks we should combine some of the skills. I do spend a lot of time prepping for the games, but I don't mind the extra prep time. My position is that 3.5 IS a solid rules system, I understand the system, and it works well for me. I don't want to change again, especially when 3.5 is not broken. The largest complaint for me is that without 4.0 looming out there, nobody was dissatisfied with 3.5. Now, it seems to me that the only people really excited about 4.0 are only excited about it because it is new. There are a few little things here and there that may be improvements, but I can see no real reason to switch. With everything that I have already written out and planned, however, it has occurred to me that I need to run Sasha and Daria for at least 10-12 more sessions. After that, I can switch off to the other group, or the party can split up at that later time. Other than this little hiccup, I am open to all suggestions as to how the party should split. This one is for Abe--I hope you will read this--I think that I have a reason for two parties. The group could get together and decide to split up for a distinct reason. One group would continue in the search for the parents, while the other group could be picked out by Karn as a force that would attempt to hunt down Adimarchus and his minions. Because I have so much already written on the parents, you would probably have to take the other group. However, this would give you the opportunity to create a small army that the players would have to fight their way through before attempting to storm Adimarchus' citadel. The only problem comes up from the division of the groups. I would assume that Daria and Sasha would continue after the parents, but I would think that everyone would want to keep Van as far away from Adimarchus as possible (at least, at this time) so I would guess that he would stay with Daria. From there, I can see a reason why Makibex would leave (the best defense being a good offense idea) but I can also see why he would stay (to be as close to Van as possible.) Kaelin would have reason to want revenge for his imprisonment, and would probably go after Adimarchus. Steve and Elizabeth could make anything, and thusly could go in either group. Also, Blake's character could also go in either group. What do you think? Any of the rest of the group can comment on their ideas here as well. The Black Bard wrote:
I was actually referring to the legend, not the fact. In that sense, I still find it to be an accurate metaphor. Because of the legend, the term "lemming" does carry with it a certain connotation that I was attempting to connect with the op's desire for a derogatory term. Sometimes my online persona runs away with the game. Fake Healer wrote:
How's about "Lemmings?" I like that one myself. Just because the lead lemming says that they should all jump off a cliff into the ocean, all the others fall in line and do it. maliszew wrote: As I'm sure you know, a lot of D&D players, for reasons both rational and not, see 4E as a "betrayal" (to use a very loaded word) of both them personally as customers and of the things they love about the game. I loved Dungeon magazine. When wotc killed that, they lost me to 4E. So, yes, for what its worth, I see 4E as a betrayal. But I will continue to support Paizo.
