I actually live just outside of Columbia, MO. I am trying to get things moving more on the KC side of the state, as the St. Louis side already has a rockin PFS scene. That doesn't mean St. Louis won't get any love--I plan to go over there and roll some dice soon--but KC just needs some help right now.
My email address should be listed in the free Guide To Pathfinder Society Organized Play, and also in the Pathfinder Society Field Guide. Just in case you don't have access to either of those, it is kikai13@yahoo.com.
I hope to hear from you all soon!
I also recommend the City of Strangers Scenarios. They are easy to run, they use flip-mats and map packs (so you don't have to draw out maps if you have access to the right ones,) and are a completely self contained story. They are written as tier 1-7, so you can easily have the party be level 3-5 if you like--they are already scaled for that. And, best of all, they are a bunch of fun.
Hello, all!
I'm sending a shout out to Pathfinders all over the state that I might not know yet--send me a line! Also, if you are in the KC area, I have had a distress call come to me from GameCafe in Independence--they can't keep a weekly or bi-weekly PFS game going because they keep losing GMs. If you are in the area and willing to run a few games, please contact either GameCafe or Pulp Fiction, as both are great game stores that need a few GMs to help get regular games going.
And if you play PFS anywhere in Missouri, I look forward to meeting you! Post here or send me an email!
Thank you,
Jason
More Games = More Fun
Hmmm...I was sure you had my email address.
kikai13@yahoo.com
Please add it to the list!
By the way, I am willing to travel all over the state. If anyone from KC, St. Louis, Springfield, Cape, etc needs support, send me a line!

Congrats to you, Mike! You make us venture-captains proud!
It just occurred to me that, in this picture, it looks like Wes is part of James's thumb.
Congrats to all of you at Paizo. You always deserve all of the awards you get, and you deserve all the success that I can tell is still forthcoming. I really like seeing a small company that actually listens to its customers do well.
I'm very excited about all of the new stuff coming out!!

I was surprised at this too this weekend. Maybe it was the luck of the draw, but I often found myself stopping what I was saying and waiting for players to finish conversations. This has also happened to me, but now I bring a cattle prod with me to games. Odd how, after only a single zap, everyone gives me their undivided attention.
Congrats to you, sir! A fine job indeed!
Wherever you are today, I hope you are rolling 20's. Thanks for starting up this game we all love so much!
Saturday, August 6th, Valhalla's Gate in Columbia, MO will be hosting Pathfinder Society of Missouri's Second Annual Grand Melee!! This is a very fun event aimed at Pathfinder Players who can't get away to GenCon. If you have a Pathfinder Society character of level 1-9 you can enter your character in the competition.
This is an unofficial event, so you will not receive any experience or prestige. However, there are many prizes available. The grand prize is two copies of Ultimate Combat. The entry fee is only $3. Not a bad return if you win!
I am also in need of volunteers to help run the event. You don't get to participate, but you won't have to pay to enter either. You don't have to do any prep work, just have good knowledge of the rules!
If you would like more information or would like to volunteer, please contact me at kikai13 at yahoo.
Last year's Grand Melee was an absolute blast! I think this year's will be even better!!
Why wasn't Paizo.com up for best website?
That would have been my vote!
Just throwing on a quick reminder of this weekend's Cape Comic Con, at the Osage Center in Cape G.
It is not too late for everybody out there in Pathfinder Society-Land to call in sick to work Friday morning and come throw around dice for a few days!
Even if you have to work Friday, the schedule for Saturday is packed with all kinds of Paizo love, and we need YOU, the faithful messageboarders, to show Cape that Pathfinder is the best game in the world!
I know that some folks are flying in from as far away as California to come to this con--if they can make it, so can you!
This con is gonna be awesome!!!!
Since its inception, Paizocon has set the standard of what makes a good con.
As always, I had a blast this year. It is sometimes difficult to run several games and visit with everyone you want, but Paizocon makes this much easier.
The people at Paizo certainly do "get it." That's what makes them the best!
I very much enjoyed getting to meet and roll some bones with Painlord and Kyle Baird this year--very cool guys!
It would be impossible to thank everyone who makes Paizocon great without having a ten page post, so thanks to you, (insert your name here if you work for Paizo, been to Paizocon, or support Paizo in any way!)
Already excited about 2012!!
If there was, it was super secret and nobody I know was invited.
Looks like there's more than one Venture-Captain on my floor....
Wow! Wish I could throw my 9th level Cleric / Fighter in there--but I'm running another game. I would love to get "slaughtered*" by Dragonmoon!

Just arrived a few minutes ago. At Dennys getting supper. You mind if we come by your room, Ted?
Excellent blog. Very necessary. This will kill bunches of arguments.
Wow! You are there way early!!
See you in two days!
(I officially declare Zuxius the winner of the "I am the first Paizocon arrival who doesn't live in the Seattle area" award!!)
The most organized Society games in Missouri that I know of are out of Cape Girardeau and Columbia. I am, however, searching eagerly for a contact in Kansas City to start some Society games there. Please email me at kikai13 (@) yahoo.you know the rest and I will do everything I can to help you set up some ongoing Pathfinder Society games!
Thanks,
jason
This is simply awesome. Nothing more to say.

Painlord's PFS-esque Scenario: Sunday 2pm to 7pm @ PaizoCon Hotel.
For heroically focused PFS characters, lvls 1 to 5. Characters of Iomedean or Arodenite worship will have strong ties to the outcome of his scenario.

Thank you so much, Sara Marie! You are the best! Thank you thank you!
I'm having a hard time reaching you guys by phone. I have some weird stuff going on with my Paizocon tickets, and I may lose out on the lottery if nobody gets back to me!
Anything y'all can do to help out?
Hey, all! All kinds of awesome Pathfinder stuff is happening in the great state of Missouri!
June 4th is gonna be a huge festival of Society scenarios hosted by the now-famous Valhalla's Gate store!
Shortly after that is a little get together in Seattle that I encourage all Missouri Pathfinders to attend--from June 10th-12th!
Free RPG day is June 18th, and yours truly is planning to run "We Be Goblins!" for anyone and everyone who would like to play!
And who could possibly forget Cape Comic Con on the weekend of June 24th-26th? I haven't been to Cape Comic Con before, but from what I have heard it's gonna be a blast!
June's gonna be a great month for Pathfinder in Missouri!
I do hope that this happens again this year, even if Erik doesn't want to dj. I had a great time last year, and heard a lot of really good music.
By the way, did everyone hear that Baroness has been opening for Metallica lately?
Thanks, Painlord! If it helps, I can easily throw together a dozen scenario chronicles for which I never gained credit.
This is gonna be fun! Any classes recommended? Any classes you absolutely can't stand?

Timing is completely determined by you, as the gm. If you have a player that is always late, tell them you start a half hour earlier than you actually start. Someone who has to leave early is a larger problem: I would attempt to power through the scenarios a bit faster so that person can have at least a chance of completing the mission. If you are just running things as a home game, however, time concerns can fall into the background. I have had home games last seven hours before!
The main thing is to try and make sure everyone has a good time. It really seems to me that people showing up late or leaving early are missing out on a lot of the fun. I don't think checking your watch every few minutes is a good thing, as that is a distraction to you and your players.
After reading the opening text, I always add: "Any questions?". That seems to speed along the q and a a bit. Also, the better you know the material, the less you have to refer to the text. My first year GM'ing at Paizocon, I was so concerned about messing something up that I pretty much memorized the scenario. Every time I ran that scenario, it was done in about 3 and 1/2 hours. Familiarity smoothes things out considerably.
Hope this helps some!

I'm away from my computer for a few days, and look at what I miss! If anybody bails from this game, please save the slot for me. Thanks!
Edit: If by some miracle I do get back into this game, I think I would like to play a dwarf cleric.

I, too, have a Pathfinder Society-esque scenario to run and I'll be around Sunday day and to run it.
It's subtiers 1-2 and 4-5, and is unlike most PFS scenarios.
I could run before or after Gotrek22.

I would like to take part in this game, but it has been quite some time since I have assigned experience points to a Society character (I run so much that I lose track.) Do you recommend I try to build up a character in the next few weeks, or would it be okay for me to use an unofficial PFS character?
I'm pretty much only watching HBO and Comedy Central these days. That's where all the good stuff is anyway.
Mark your calendars, everybody! Cape Comic Con is gonna be right in the middle of the U.S.--equidistant from everywhere! Therefore, I see no reason why everyone on the Paizo messageboards hasn't signed up already!
I unfortunately haven't been to a Cape Comic Con before, but I have heard from many friends that it absolutely ROCKS! Come on over for lots of gaming goodness!
Kobold Cleaver wrote: Last year I went to a certain event, and enjoyed it immensely. I'd like to enter its sequel this year, but I'm wondering if this would be regarded as 'hogging' the game. What're the social rules on this sort of thing? Dude--go for it! Think of it as "legacy," not "hogging." Half the fun is in playing on from the year before!!
That sounds like fun, Kelly! What level are you thinking?
Mattastrophic wrote: Historically, how has the event lottery worked out for people who just want to play PFS and really don't care for anything else?

You should have absolutely no problem finding a PFS game.
Are you coming to Paizocon? If so, how long after Paizocon will you be flying home?
Mark Moreland wrote: You folks are in for a HUGE surprise when you find out what prize the Decemvirate has their eyes on. There's a whole world of possibilities that I'd wager aren't on anyone's radar. Wow, Mark. That's really mean. I'm so dense that I usually don't see overarching themes until they are looming over me.
Does anyone out there have a really cool update of an old-school module or a new homemade Pathfinder adventure that you would be willing to run after Paizocon, on Sunday afternoon? I played in Eric Tillemans' Pharaoh game last year, and it was a blast! I would really like to do something similar this year!
Thanks in advance!
I am so glad that this tradition is going to continue. That game last year was a blast!
An absolutely great experience that I had last year was playing in Eric Tilleman's "Pharaoh" game on Sunday, after lots of folks had left to catch a plane. Is anybody interested in getting a game together Sunday afternoon?

Arnim Thayer wrote: My only question is why Jason's tag doesn't list him as a VC? Did he get demoted for the pizzas?
VCs only get listed as VCs in the Pathfinder Society forums. That way, we get to keep our other tags when posting outside of Society business!

Lisa and Vic!
I'm sorry I missed you guys with the pizza! When I asked Mark if everyone was gonna be there on Friday, he replied with "Everybody that matters." I guess I should have asked what he meant by that.
Just kidding--I really didn't know your were on vacation. I hope you had a great time, and I will try to make it up to y'all by buying you a beer at Paizocon.

That last one was a doozy! The rest of them were far too easy.
As always, Cosmo, your mustache takes the cake. I think there is still some in it, btw.
Great pictures!!
I am so glad you guys enjoyed it! It was the least we could do to thank you all for the hard work you put into the best RPG in the world!!
Cheers to you from the Pathfinder Lodge of Missouri!
