email from local gaming store wrote:
"Per usual, our supply on FREE RPG Day items is limited and as a store with a strong RPG customer base, we have to put some reasonable limits on what we can give away to insure as many of our customers as possible can get items they are interested in. On FREE RPG Day any Gamer Rewards customer may come and recieve two FREE RPG Day items, absolutely no purchase necessary. You are free to chose your two items, but in order to balance out supply vs demand, items we expect to run out of more quickly have been assigned a token number of Gamer Rewards Points in order to redeem them."

At this particular store you join this "Gamer Rewards" program. Every purchase you make earns you Gamer Rewards points which can be saved and later "spent" to get discounts on purchases.

So...

To get any FreeRPG day stuff:

a) You have to have a Gamer Rewards account to get anything
b) You have to spend Gamer Rewards points to get the more popular stuff

Kosher?

I'm told the 5th printing of the CRB changes riding dog to just "dog" on the summon monster I list of creatures summonable.

The PRD does not show this nor do any of the errata documents.

Is there anything else changed in the 5th printing that is not in the PRD or in any errata documents?

Am I misinformed and the 5th printing does NOT have this change?

Inquiring minds want to know!

I was thinking that it might be nice to see a little gift box next to the envelope (for private messages) indicating when you have new downloads available. Just an idea!

This discussion was started on the 3pp.d20pfsrd.com Facebook group but that is a private group only open to publishers of Pathfinder content.

The thought occurred to me that it would be nice to be able to go to various game conventions and sit down at organized play tables that are a bit different than what PFS offers, most notably a wider range of module styles and lengths AND the ability to play content created by 3rd Party Publishers.

A few publishers indicated a very high level of interest in establishing such an organization. I put a call out to other 3rd Party Publishers to see if there was more BROAD interest in the concept because, to be honest, if the bigger, or more prolific 3pp aren't interested, or just plain overall there is a lack of interest, there isn't much point. A few of the publishers suggested posting here because a) we wanted to see if there was fan/player interest in the concept and b) perhaps the 3pp didn't see the discussion on Facebook and Google+.

Oh, also, the discussion was kept in the private fb group because we weren't sure if the idea would be well-received by Paizo, meaning, if successful, this org could potentially split the player base that would ordinarily be playing PFS so we're just not sure if its something Paizo would even like to see happen.

So, what about it? Is there interest in such a thing? Ultimately I think this would be a great way to promote and grow the 3pp community as well as grow the PFRPG brand by offering an organized play option for players who don't quite get what they're looking for from PFS.

I've created a Facebook group "3pp.d20pfsrd.com" which I use to send out announcements and/or to communicate with you guys more easily. If you're not already in that group and want to be, either email me a Facebook ID to add (at jreyst@gmail.com) or respond here, your choice.

Thought folks might be interested in this... Just happened to be poking around in Google Analytics and thought I'd check to see which of the personal Labs sections was getting the most traffic recently. Here they are! (A Google Spreadsheet displays the table better than here.) Note that this is JUST since April 1st. If we went back much further then some of the older Labs would obviously have much higher results.

Check it out!

Then check out the Downloads section of d20pfsrd.com. We've got downloadable copies of the PRD and other things in 31 different flavors! Well not really 31, but one of them might suit your purposes.

Here you go!

Then contact d20pfsrd.com!

We'll support virtually any Kickstarter that is for a Pathfinder compatible product and which is also mostly Open Game Content.

Contact jreyst@gmail.com for details!

d20pfsrd.com is looking for someone with Acrobat/PDF developer experience as well as web development skills for a one-time project. This project is a "for pay" project. If you are interested please contact jreyst@gmail.com to work out details.

I'd love to hear stories from players and GMs who have used various 3rd party publisher content to create characters, such as classes, prestige classes, archetypes, and/or races. If you've got a PC or NPC that was created using 3rd party content, tell us about it! Also, give props to the 3pp who created the class/race/whatever to let them know that you enjoyed their creation :)

So since we've got like literally hundreds of monsters in our backlog waiting to be reviewed, even though we've got a large crew, getting people with experience building and converting monsters is still a challenge. We decided to try a new tactic, CROWD SOURCING! Instead of trying to get people with both HTML editing AND monster building experience to join the team we decided to just throw the monsters that we've already done some amount of conversion work on out for a public review.

Critters Needing Review

So basically if you are one of the few, the proud, those who really, actually do have a solid grasp of monster creation and conversion rules, and you'd like to give back to the community, why not peek in there, pick a critter, give it a spot check for errors, then post your notes for us to make corrections?

We set up a Google Doc for your notes. Right now the format is kinda loose but if things get too hectic/chaotic we'll try to structure it a bit more.

Google Doc to Edit with your Notes

Anyone in?

Wow this never got a response?

I feel all dirty now. No one will ever love me :(

Ok, back to the trenches!

The fan community put together a large PDF chock-full of pregenerated Pathfinder Society PCs which we've gone ahead and linkified and formatted for d20pfsrd.com posting. We've created a new page under Extra's in the left side menu.

You can see it here (they're in the link box under the PFS logo)

As I personally don't play much PFS I'm not 100% certain if it's even legal to play pregenerated PC's from a website such as d20pfsrd.com so if it's not, then oh well, it's just another large list of pregenerated PCs anyone can use for other purposes. If it IS legal, well then here you go.

If anyone notices anything mechanically incorrect about them please feel free to let us know.

Join the Fans of d20pfsrd.com Facebook Group then post a house rule either you use as a GM or that your GM uses that you think is reasonable and addresses some concern or issue in the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. The ones with the most Likes will be added to the site and will include you and/or your GM's name in the credits section for the rule.

Sound fun? This way we can compile the better ones for others to review and consider for their own campaigns.

Get moving! :)

Please provide your thoughts, pro or con, on this potential main bestiary page redesign:

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary-main-new

Notable changes: Separate sections for animals (somewhat broken into sub-categories) and for vermin, jellies/slimes, and Templates. Some additional sorting/clustering still to come, but this is the vast majority of it.

So, yay or nay?

What is a Beastmaster you ask? Someone with a good understanding of the Pathfinder monster rules, specifically in the area of monster creation and conversion of monsters from 3.0 or 3.5 to Pathfinder. Ideally you will also possess a decent grasp of html and at least some knowledge or experience with cascading style sheets (CSS).

Pay = Pride in knowing you've helped make other GM's lives easier and knowing you're part of the largest fansite for the most popular RPG game in the world!

Interested?

Email me!

I'm going Saturday and will be in the seminar and then in the afternoon "next iteration" preview game.

Anyone else going?

Hey all, stop over HERE and join up for the latest updates on what's going on with the site as well as ability to chat with the collaborators on the site.

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled Paizo board surfing!

Anyone want to help get Bestiary 3 up on the site? Ideally you need some familiarity with HTML as it involves a lot of copying and pasting of HTML. If you do, and you've got some spare time, send me an email and either send it FROM a Google account, or include a Google ID in the email that I can add into the system. Send it to jreyst@gmail.com. Thanks!

Are you are Pathfinder 3rd Party Publisher who frequently links your products to d20pfsrd.com? Mike Bohlmann of byswarm.com is and in order to ensure that the links he puts in his products are always correct, he took the initiative of creating a special tool for 3rd Party Publishers like himself (or anyone really) to use. This feature ensures that your links are ALWAYS correct, even if we move content around. While we've been doing that a lot less lately, it is always possible we may reorganize things from time to time which might break links in your products. We don't want your customers to be inconvenienced by broken links so this can help prevent that.

See this page for more information.

Hey gang!

I'm John Reyst, the original creator of d20pfsrd.com and I've recently started setting up a similar type of site but for Mutants and Masterminds (Third Edition) using the Open Game Content portions of the rules (basically everything.) I want this site to support and promote the Mutants and Masterminds game as d20pfsrd.com does for the Pathfinder game, by getting more people into the system by letting them see the system before they buy.

Anyway, the site can be found at http://www.d20herosrd.com. It's not 100% complete yet as the tables still need formatting and a ton of linkage still needs to be added but it's getting there. I'd love to hear any comments pro or con about the site. You can email me at jreyst@gmail.com if you've got any thoughts!

Thanks and good gaming all!

--John

FYI: All official errata updates for the CORE RULEBOOK (released yesterday [11/22]) have now been applied to d20pfsrd.com.

We are happy to offer free advertising on the main page of d20pfsrd.com, as well as within the left side-bar of every page of the site (over 15k pages) to any 3rd Party Publisher releasing content for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. We average 1.5 - 2.0 million pageviews per week and 15k daily unique visitors. If you think daily exposure to that would help your product you should get in touch with us.

Several publishers have already done so, including Jon Brazer Enterprises, TPK Games, the makers of Hero Lab, and others. The only commitment from you is that you need to send us one or two banner graphic ads, sized either (or both of) 728px x 90px (wide format) or 160px x 600px (tall format) and then tell us where you want us to link them to. We run your ads for at least one complete month. If no other publisher has sent us an ad to post at the end of your month, you stay up. If you'd like to know if this can help your product, please feel free to contact the folks mentioned above. I'll just say that they seem very pleased by the results thus far.

TPK games ads will be going back up for December. January is currently open. If no one jumps in we'll either leave TPK up or alternate between them and the Hero Lab folks who have already sent us ads (and are posted now.) This is first come- first served so if you want in, don't delay.

Just letting folks know we've set up a Google+ page specifically for d20pfsrd.com. One of the restrictions of the new Google Pages is that a Page can not circle someone that has not circled it first. Therefore, for me to circle folks via the d20pfsrd.com page, you've got to circle it first. So what the heck are you waiting for??

Get over here and circle us!

As an FYI, we'll be doing most of our Pathfinder/Paizo/RPG-oriented posting via the d20pfsrd.com Google Page and not via my personal Google+ page now.

Seen these yet? Thank Denny Edwards for this snazzy contribution to the site!

Alchemist Spell Filter Page
Antipaladin Spell Filter Page
Bard Spell Filter Page
Cleric Spell Filter Page
Druid Spell Filter Page
Magus Spell Filter Page
Witch Spell Filter Page

The rest of the spell list pages are coming soon, as well as other big indexy-type pages (like the Traits page for example!)

The new PRD is a massive improvement in both usability and performance compared to the previous incarnation. I applaud the Paizo web team for a job well done. While following the thread talking about it a few posters mentioned features which prompted me to respond, which turns out wasn't helpful because it caused the Paizo tech team some level of confusion about what was being discussed (ie, PRD or d20pfsrd.com.)

They rightly recommended starting a separate thread, which is what this one is for. I just wanted to make sure people were aware of some of the features of d20pfsrd.com since they were being mentioned/requested in the other thread.

Adding new spells to existing spell lists...
It was mentioned that it would be helpful to add new spells released in new books into existing spell lists, so that one can have a master spell list that includes all spells up to that point. d20pfsrd.com already does this. See the sorcerer/wizard spell list as an example.

Adding new classes to existing spell descriptions...
It was mentioned that it would be nice if the new class names and level information were to be added to existing spell descriptions, meaning, if a magus gets featherfall at level 2, add "magus 2" to the featherfall spell details. d20pfsrd.com already does this. See animate dead (antipaladin & oracle added) and barkskin (alchemist & summoner added) as examples.

Adding domains to existing spells...
No one requested or mentioned this one but I thought it was worth mentioning. The editors of d20pfsrd.com are progressively adding the domains information to existing spells. Meaning, if a spell is granted as a bonus spell as a result of a domain, that information is added to the spell details page. d20pfsrd.com already does this. See animate dead and barkskin as examples.

Lots of other things...
A common request of the PRD seems to be to merge new content into the old content, so that one can find a master list of all of the available content in one place. d20pfsrd.com already does this for virtually everything released. All of the "monsters by type" "monsters by cr" "monsters by terrain" as well as all feat lists such as "all metamagic feats" or "all combat feats" are continually updated with the new content, merged into the existing content. Master tables are always updated, shuffling the new content into the existing tables. This is a massive time-sync but we think its a valuable feature for GMs and players.

So, with that said, once again, the new PRD is a massive improvement over the old one, and Paizo taking the time and spending the dollars on the time and labor required to make that available reinforces why I spend a good amount of money with them every month. I just wanted to make sure people were also aware that some of the features being requested are already available on d20pfsrd.com. If you already knew then awesome :)

Ok, now get back to gaming!

Chapter 1: Classes
Gunslinger, ninja, and samurai are done/added. Archetypes are continually being added to all classes.

Chapter 2: Feats
A few that were required for other areas I was working on (siege engine feats, firearms feats, etc.) are done/added. The rest are waiting for the crew to finish.

Chapter 3: Mastering Combat
Eastern weapons, firearms, gladiator weapons (merged into tables), stone age weapons, bronze age weapons, new special materials, duels, performance combat, siege engines

Chapter 4: Vehicles
Done

Chapter 5: Variant Rules
Armor as DR, Called Shots, Piecemeal Armor, Wounds and Vigor: all done/added.

Chapter 6: Spells
Waiting for the crew to finish.

We're happy to announce that today Google released the feature we've been waiting for for some time- the ability to restrict visibility to some parts of a Google Site and not others.

This means that our "work area" is now only viewable by site collaborators and books should no longer be viewable to the public prior to the delay period elapsing. We regret that this was not in place earlier but hey, we're not Google :)

We've set up a Google Sites template for GMs to use for managing Pathfinder campaigns.

You can find it here.

Comments/critques/suggestions welcome.

Thanks to Paizo for Pathfinder, without which there is obviously no d20pfsrd.com.

Thanks to Paizo for being so available and approachable to the fans. It may not seem like much to some but silly me I still find it extremely cool to be able to stand and chat with Erik at the ENnies and have him call me by name in a seminar. Yes, I'm lame, I know.

Thanks to Jason and Stephen for not pretending they didn't hear me at Scotty's and for spending a few hours drinking with me, Mike Bohlmann (of byswarm.com), Ben Berg and the crew from TPK Games, and Richard Hunt, a contributor to Ultimate Combat. I had a great time with all of you and have now added Saturday night to my database of stories I get to share with friends over and over again :)

Thanks to Sean for not choking me out after all of the complaining I did on the boards about the FAQ process.

Thanks to Owen K. Stephens for indulging me in some lengthy conversation at the ENnies. I'm looking forward to continuing to help promote DungeonaDay.com as well as other Super Genius Games products.

Thanks to Greg Vaughn of Frog God Games for taking a few minutes to chat with me at the ENnies. Greg I've been a longtime fan of Necromancer Games and I'm glad you and Chuck are working together. I regret he isn't spending as much time on d20pfsrd.com now but in a way he is since he helped on Tome of Horrors Complete. I hope for his sake and for the benefit of Frog God Games that he never has time to work on the site again because you're keeping him too busy with FGG stuff.

Thanks to Mike Bohlmann (of byswarm.com) for running the best Pathfinder game I played in at Gencon. Your world is extremely well detailed and engaging and I enjoyed playing Klak. Great game Mike!

Thanks to Mark Moreland for telling me I couldn't get into the PFS game I had a ticket for (but had lost!) Way to rain on my parade Mark! In any event, I got to play due to the kindness of another fellow helping run the PFS games (whose name escapes me sorry!)

Thanks to Micah of Obsidian Portal for denying us our prize once again! In all honesty Micah was extremely gracious and kind as he stepped on my face. I really appreciated the tender way his sneakers crushed my nose ;) No, really he was cool and some year we'll top them (maybe!)

Thanks to Shoshanna Bauer, Mike Bohlmann's lovely wife for two things: 1) The story of how Larry Elmore hit on her, and for sharing her art and knowledge of comic books with me while she, Mike, and I walked to Scotty's. Her art can be found at http://shoshannabauer.com.

Thanks to Brett Carlos, aka Beastmaster #1 for showing up and supporting us by wearing the d20pfsrd.com colors! Shirt AND hat! Rock on man!

Thanks to my buds Denny and Shawn for tolerating my drunken stupid rambling on the way back to the hotel and to Denny for driving the ~4 hours to and from Gencon!

Thanks to Hyrum for blowing us off at Scotty's! We missed you man!

Thanks to Indianapolis for hosting an awesome Gencon 2011 and finally, thanks to everyone who voted for d20pfsrd.com in the ENnies. We truly appreciate your vote and your support. We love doing what we do, and we love knowing that you guys appreciate our work.

Ok, that's probably too long but now that I'm back in the office I had time to actually put into words my thanks! Now, back to relentlessly scouring the boards for hours on end and complaining about things...

;)

I've been working on d20Threshold for some time. If anyone would like to look it over and share their thoughts, pro or con, I'd be interested in hearing.

Warning: This is a classless, cross-genre/setting-neutral system inspired by the various d20 incarnations including: D&D 3.5, D&D 4E, d20 Modern/Future, Gary Sarli's e20 System Evolved, Star Wars Saga Edition, Fantasy Craft and other various d20 derivatives. If those aren't your cup o'joe, this likely won't be either. If however, you find the classless concept appealing, you might like where this is headed.

So if you have a bit of time and are interested, please do check out d20Threshold!

Recent updates from Google Sites allows for automatic reformatting of pages when it detects a mobile browser (ie, Android, iOs, etc.) This greatly improves the functionality and appearance of the site in mobile browsers (though its still certainly not perfect.)

Features:

Collapsible Nav/Sidebar- The entire left side menu can be collapsed out of view by clicking on the divider between it and the body of the page. This expands the viewing area for the body of the page.

Realigning Header and Resizing Logo- The logo and header area automatically resizes and repositions the search field for easier use.

Autofit to Width- It attempts to resize the width of the page to match the device’s width.

Moves content that normally overlaid other content- Moves such content down. In other words, the tall/vertical ad on the right main page and a few other pages, now no longer overlaps the content of the page but is instead moved down below the content.

That is all :)

Voting in the 2011 Ennies has been open since Friday. All of the hard working collaborators (and myself of course) would really appreciate your vote for Best Website for 2011. We won Silver last year but think we have a real chance of getting the Gold this year. Will you help us get there?

Vote Here!

Thanks from everyone at d20pfsrd.com!

Voting in the 2011 Ennies opens tomorrow July 15th! In case you didn't know, d20pfsrd.com is nominated in the Best Website category.

Can we count on your vote? If not, what can we do between now and next year to get it (if we're lucky enough to get nominated again that is)? If we can, then thanks so much!

We need every vote we can get! Tell your friends! Tell your mother! As soon as the voting page is up we'll be sure to post directions to get there in case anyone needs help!

Thanks again from everyone at d20pfsrd.com!

Anyone want one?

Send an email to d20pfsrd.com@gmail.com from the account you want added. Oh and say "Me lovey d20pfsrd.com" or else I shank a kitten when the invite is sent.

;)

Ok, this book was monumental but its basically done. If you like psionics then check out http://goo.gl/cwN7e. If you come across anything missing or incorrect, please shoot me an email (jreyst@gmail.com).

Oh, and be sure to thank Dreamscarred Press by buying this book and participating in their open playtest for their next book!

I am aware of a few tables that still need to be formatted so don't worry about reporting those :)

Create a Google App Script hosted on the site that adds a menu option (button or link) to all pages on the site (in edit mode) that says "Linkify." and when clicked, it performs the same process that our current linkifier script performs.

Prize is a Paizo Gift Certificate upon completion for $50. More detailed challenge requirements described upon accepting/inquiring re: this challenge :)

Anyone up to the task? This requires knowledge of Google Sites/Docs API and/or Google App Script experience! Show us what you've got!
