I game with several groups, mostly as a player but DM one campaign (Eberron). While most of the players and DMs plan to stick with 3.5 for the foreseeable future, a few of us plan to give 4e a shot with one-shots and limited sessions.
I already plan, though, that if I find 4e viable enough, to seek a campaign as a player or DM it without giving up on any of my 3.5e games. (Okay, I'll probably drop one but four campaigns a month is already a bit much! :) )
Anyone else have similar plans?

Anyone else thinking about picking theirs up secondhand or "like new"?
Nope. Gift certificates, baby! :)

Just purchased the second and third RotR mag/mod/supps at the local game store. Looks good so far.
If I purchase the rest from Paizo, I can select which hardcopies I want mailed, right?

I've encountered that as a DM and told that they either buy me a copy of the book or bring it with them at every game. If they forgot, then forgot about using the optional rule. And whining will cost in levels.

Whimsy Chris wrote: Does anybody else feel the same way? Speak up even if you totally disagree because I'm interested in what other players think of what to me seems like an overwhelming amount of RPG material coming out and what... Not really. As several folks pointed out, everything outside of the core books is optional. WotC, or any company for that matter, is not holding a gun to your head forcing you to buy their books. (As for whiny players who have to play PCs using the latest shiny, I'd demand they give me the book to review and, if I approve, they MUST bring that book to the game if I need to reference it. Otherwise, no go, and additional protest will immmediately cost a level drain. Or they buy me a copy of the book.)
Unlike what seems like a lot of folks here, the prices doesn't bother me as my income -- and generous use of coupons and gift certs -- can easily handle it. I'm also not bothered by purchases that I "may" never use: I'm an avid reader and have enough hard-covered books, comic books, manga, DVDs, and video games to last dozens of lifetimes.
But, again, you DON'T have to have EVERY book/module/supplement to play DnD of any addition. Imagination, in addition to the players, pencils and paper, dice, and the core rules (and maybe a couple of pizzas), are all that are needed.

Thanks anyway, Cosmo!
I'd like to order the entire Rise of the Runelord AP -- print. Does Paizo offer any discounts/reduced shipping for such an order? Thanks!
With Rise of the Runelords AP now completed, has it been determined if Paizo will release it as a compendium like Shackled City? If not, what's the total cost for all the mags/modules print-wise?
Looks like Goodman Games is on board:

Will this impact Paizo and Necromancer Games decision?

The bottom line is that supporting 3.5 just isnt feasible if you have the choice of going to 4E. AND, like Judges Guild (at least in its heyday) our purpose is to support the current version of the game and make sure it is injected with the proper 1E feel.
Coolio. I'm currently planning to stick with 3.5 for some time after 4e's released. But I can also use Eamonvale's duel-rules set to convert adventures back and forth.

Anyone have a TARDIS I can borrow?
Sorry. All "companion" positions looked like they're booked up through next year:

You could try Torchwood http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torchwood. Looks like they time travel. Just avoid getting turn into dust after shagging with an alien; converted into a Cyberman; or catch the Captain's amorous eye. Sato and Jones are cuter -- and younger; the Captain's, like, over nearly hundred at least -- anyway.
Spouse told me this morning that my order of the Shackled City HC is on its way. Yay! More damage to inflict on my poor (hah!) PCs as the Age of Wyrms (that's the correct spelling for my heavily modified Age of Worms AP) fast approaches Eberron and Sharn.
Hmmm. Cauldron is set in the mouth of a dormant volcano and the Cogs tap into magma. Hehehehe....

Thanks, Cosmo. Still learning my way around the messageboards here. :)
For me, I drop subscriptions if I don't find the content useful any more. I used to have several mens fitness, comic, and writing subscripts for a long, long time. But when I wasn't reading them any more or found their content repetitious, I couldn't justify their admittedly minor costs.
On this and other boards (enworld.org, rpg.net, etc.), I've read about folks cancelling their Paizo subscriptions and am curious as to why you did so. Did you dislike the modules? The price? Little of both? Or did the MIB scare you that much :) ?
NOTE: I don't have a subscription to any Paizo product, preferring to buy compendiums.
OMG. I love campaign settings and don't care which system will be used. (I'll just make the necessary changes.)

Erik Mona wrote: What do you think? Assuming the third Pathfinder Adventure Path, Second Darkness, remains 3.5, will you stick around? Yes. Currently I have no plans to convert until 5e or my players drag me kicking and screaming. Or, worse, I want to convert to 4e.
Erik Mona wrote: I know most of you are as in the dark about fourth edition as we are and I understand that it's too early to make a serious call. But how is the 4.0 hype treating you these days? Do you plan to start up a new 4.0 campaign on day 1? All hype, very little usable detail. And no plans to start a 4e campaign from day 1.
Erik Mona wrote: What do YOU want Paizo to do? Finish up all current projects in 3.5 (or 3.75) while either cancelling/pushing back unannounced projects until 4e comes out next year to minimize losses.
You may have to bite some financial loss as 4e comes out and buyers abandon Paizo in droves in the short run (e.g., "Why should I buy the latest Paizo adventure? It's in 3.5 while I'm going to start running 4e. Mmmm. 4e."). There's no way around it. THEN start prepping future 4e products. Personally, I feel y'all have built enough of a rep that, like Goodman Games and Necromancer Games, that folks will come back into the fold. My two euros....
David Witanowski wrote: Is anyone buying these books? Fluff. Love it. I'm an aspiring writer and rpgs are a great source of inspiration.
Ideas for adventures. I have no problem or qualms about converting an adventure/setting from one game system to another.
I have access to all DUNGEON back issues via a buddy of mine. Anyone recommend favorite 3.0/.5 adventures from the mag? I'm looking primarily for urban/dungeon adventures since I'll be placing them in the city of Sharn (Eberron setting). Level is irrelevant since all will be modified to be around 1-12 level.
Thanks!
