I also want to thank Bill, Doug, Jeff, and everyone else responsible for making it a great weekend of gaming. As a GM, I was just able to focus on making it the best game for the other six people at my table!

I'd also like to thank the players at my tables for having a good time!

I added a new side cart after my order was passed through yesterday (and I figured out I was just shy of the $10 shipping discount). Can you add my new sidecart to my current subscription order, or automatically happen if I make a quick order after those first emails go out?

It looks like, based on the weight of the package, standard post is not an option. The cheapest option in this particular case is UPS ground at $25.84. Please let us know if that works for you and we'll get it changed!

That would be great! Please change my shipping from Priority Mail to UPS Ground! Thanks!

Hi folks,

Any chance you can flip my shipping preference from Priority to First Class postage for just this Order(as long as it's cheaper)? I would like to flip back to priority for future shipments.

Thanks,

Jeremy

Minis Market has pictures of every mini on their website, it's a little more complete for the Tyranny set than minisgallery.

I have to say, I enjoyed the special, as it was my first one, Also, as one of the lucky few who were to get in with generics since I registered for Gen Con so late, I would like to thank you guys for the opportunity to get in and fill in for those GMs who wanted to run a game, but didn't have a table.

Next year, if I get to Gen Con, I'm definitely signing up early to get in to the special.

So I rewrote Davashuum completely, because I wasn't really happy with the old 3.5 version of him. I also have three half orcs, two of which who do a million damage, so I wanted to try something different.

I wanted to see if the Flowing Monk would give him a fighting chance against the two burly half orcs, and surprisingly, it did, it took them right out of the fight. Unfortunately, the archer, even only hitting once or twice a round finished him off, though it was cool to see him redirect the orcs attacks into each other. That was a lot of damage that was taken. I ran out of feats, so I couldn't use Deflect Arrows, I'm still kind of bummed by that, I think it would have been more challenging.

1. Exactly how many Janni Captains are in the postern gate? The text says six, then three, then 5.

2. How many rolls does each PC make for the massive battle setpiece? I assume 4, right?

1. I had five, three in the tower with the Efreet and two on the balcony.

2. I had the PCs make four rolls.

First, does anyone have a map of The Ruins of Kelmarane without building indicators? We play tonight and I may be able to Photoshop them out, but I'm not positive on my time.

Second, as I read the whole 6 days exploring section, I'm not 100% sure, are the PCs suppose to go into Kelmarane? The 6 day "guide" doesn't really give the impression the PCs are exploring anything, more just watching and wandering the outskirts.

I am assuming they are, and that each daytime, they hit the outer buildings looking for clues and thus, encounters.

Or, if I am wrong, then all this takes place when they try to move into the ruins and get to the Battle Market.

Any help is appreciated!

If you have the PDF, you can use a PDF component ripper (I don't remember what I used) to get a blank map without numbers or symbols. There are a couple that a freeware for windows.

I don't see that it's contradictory. All this says is that you can't deliver two doses of poison with the same wound. You can get bit with three different spiders and get three different doses, but a spider with only one bite attack per round is only going to be able to deliver one dose of poison at best.

Does that make sense?

A character death, but I did allow the party to resuscitate her because. it's the first character death in a long, long while, and I didn't want the player punished for the other players' lack of attention.

Character: Halima, Elven Witch 6
Whodunit: Grundmoch along with one of his Cleric Shamans.
The group of seven heroes is facing off against an exploratory party of Grundmoch, two clerics, and 4 trogs. The heroes have killed the Carrion King, and are getting ready to explore the pit, and the trogs come upon them as they prepare to descend. After an abortive attempt at diplomacy, the heroes attack the trogs, and Grundmoch successfully casts hold person on the witch. Even though there are no less than 4 PCs able to defend the witch if they chose to, they instead concentrate their fire on the cleric, killing him, and the shaman disembowels the poor held witch with a coup de grace.

Hey DMs -- anyone have a write up of what info you gave the players to represent what the found in the temple at the end of Souls for Smuggler's Shiv? There's not a clear listing of what exactly the players will know, and I'd like to be as precise as possible. Especially useful would be a copied and pasted email you sent to your players.

Here's the words that went into our group wiki(there are two parts to any recap, what the heroes learned, and what the heroes accomplished), this was under what they had learned:

The room that the heroes confronted Ieana, or Yarzoth, if you will, was a large cathedral-like temple, with a river of still warm, apparently fresh blood in it. It has three alcoves that each contain carvings which delineate the genesis and journey of the cult of Zura that once inhabited these chambers. The carvings are written in Azlanti, so it is easy for Tesadura to read them, given that she has studied written Azlanti. The carvings write of the Cult's origins in the Azlanti city of Saventh-Yhi, deep in the heart of the Mwangi Expanse, and talks about the cult's exile and journey from Saventh-Yhi to the Smuggler's Shiv, where they defeated a large group of serpentfolk, and appropriated their underground Temple (this place) for their own needs. The carvings also write of how the cult plans to earn Zura's Gift (the gift of vampirism, apparently), by undertaking extensive and vile rituals, and once they did so, return to Saventh-Yhi to awaken that city with Zura's Gift as well.

These carvings are shocking to both Gelik and Tesadura, because it has long been thought that Saventh-Yhi is a myth, a legendary city of gold and riches. Everyone knows that the Azlanti aren't this far south, they stayed to the north, and to the west, across the ocean. The discovery of an intact and complete Azlanti city could be worth a country to the right people.

Along with that, the notes that Iaena carried are difficult to read, even after Gelik uses magic to attempt to comprehend them. There's so much information here, and her phrasing is so archaic, that it will take several days to sort through the information, and even then, you may need someone who knows more about how someone like Ieana writes, something that magic can't decipher. But, the last few pages show the promise of her research, for Ieana writes: For lo, I believe that these malformed and twisted apes have, in these carvings, the key to finding what I've sought for so long: the key to Tazion, and from there...Saventh-Yhi.

Call me crazy, but per the following part of the Natural Attack rules...

"If a creature has only one natural attack, it is always made using the creature’s full base attack bonus and adds 1-1/2 times the creature’s Strength bonus on damage rolls."

Unless the witch has additional natural weapons, the fact that the Prehensile Hair is secondary is irrelevant. It still uses full BAB and full Int modifier for attack and damage rolls.

Right?

Nope, because it's a secondary natural attack. The secondary attribute trumps all of the other parts, so it still gets the -5 and half str, no matter what.

We have a player in my game who loves to min-max. Currently, said player is playing a Elven Witch in my legacy of fire game. Her starts are min maxed for a 20 point buy, with a Str of 7, and an Int of 20(now 21 at 4th). The heroes were working through a dungeon and he wanted to climb a wall with her hair as the main agent for climbing, with the argument being that her strength for the climb with her hair would be 21, instead of 7. I provisionally let it slide, but I don't think this is necessarily fair to the other players, what do you guys think?

Just finished Mira Grant's Deadline, the second book in the Newsflesh Series.

IMO, the first book, Feed, totally earned its Hugo nomination, the second one doesn't have quite the impact of the first, but it still has the oomph in plot reveals. I think the third one could be very excellent, based on the strength of the finish.

Thanks. I actually just scanned the map from the LOF map portfolio sheet. Then I enlarged it to 300% to get the 1 by 1 inch square. Luckily, I have a plotter at work and was able to print the entire floors.

That's a bit different than I tried (and way more efficient). I used the pdf, converted it to jpg, blew it up by 600%, then printed each level out on 8x11, cut and taped them together and then pasted it to foamcore board, and then started cutting. I cut the floors in half for easy transport and taped them together just before use with packing tape for stability, and used floral foam wrapped in cling wrap for the supports. All in all, it was about $25 when I was done.

What kind of pen/marker works best for these cards?

I take a picture of the card with a cellphone, embed it in a word doc, and send it out as a part of the session summary, as the blade/wand/potion/wondrous item they found this time (I'm rather loath to hand the cards out to others, I fear they might not return).

We did the co-DM thing for City of the Spider Queen a few years back. He had never run a game before, and the group was fairly large already, so I put on the GM hat and helped out. I ran the combats and did the numerical stuff and rules lawyering, and he got all of the descriptive stuff. I like to think it worked out...the game finished, but I think we got pretty jaded with 15-17th level at the end of it, since some people were really adept at power gaming and others weren't, and City of the Spider Queen was really a power gaming module at heart.

I'm not sure what will happen when the group hits the gnolls, not a lot of front line characters. In the Fire encounter in Howl, it took 4 PCs and 4 NPCs to move the wagon away from the fire before it lit up.

So after 2 sessions with 8 people, we had a session on Tuesday night with 6 people. Went noticeably smoother as they finished off the monastery. 8 might be too many people...

Pff, people only love him because he's Roy Khan. ;)

I don't see the resemblance, sadly. I think he looks like one of my former co-workers, Kevin, (who is also a big Kamelot fan).
