Complete "boob plate" is a liability, a potentially fatal one.

And yet, muscled breastplates were popular in Greece for quite some time, and their primary weapon was a piercing one.

This evidence suggests to me that the liability of "sculpted" body armor has been overestimated by modern sensibilities.

Got my copy from the FLG&CS, and while I'm very impressed with the Paizo parts, and I love most of the alternate cover choices, the art style of the comic itself is hard to look at. Characters aren't consistently drawn from frame to frame, everything is "grotesque" styled (by that I mean facial proportions are off), etc. We've seen dozens of stylistic renderings of the Iconics, from near-realistic to manga-ish, and I'm disappointed that a look so radically different from previous work (not to mention the comic cover and character bios in the back) was chosen by the artist for this comic.

That being said, the story is chock-full of flavor and has me wanting more. And Seoni's disgusted look is pretty fantastic. You'll know the look I mean when you see it. The Sandpoint intro stuff is good, though mostly stuff experienced players have seen before, and I really like the idea of including an encounter map and scenario in the issue; a practice I hope continues, especially if they ramp up the CR to match the issue number or something.

So I'm grudgingly looking forward to future issues.

Thanks, that's how I was hoping it worked!

I'm a new AP subscriber, and I love your "Sidecart" idea. But I have a few questions about the details:

Does the sale extend past the ship-date (August 3-10) for my current AP subscription?

And if not, will the sale prices be honored on items added to the sidecart during the sale?

And lastly, since I know in general your discounts don't stack, is "free shipping for over $100 order" in effect, or do the sale discounts negate that offer?

Thanks,

Btw: I did run my kids through Hollows Last Hope and the Crown of the Kobold King, and both were fairly "safe" for them. I edited out the:

I'm running my kids (8 and 11) through "Crown" right now. I'm also planning on making similar edits. I'll leave in the scary stuff, just not the horrifying stuff, if you know what I mean.

I've had luck converting some old 3rd Ed Wizard's "Simple Adventures" (such as The Burning Plague) as well as a few other free adventures I've found around the web. "Crown" is the most complete adventure they've been on yet. Now that they have some experience with playing, I feel they can handle more plot.

It also helps that my wife is playing the party leader. ;)

I personally prefer the more "cat headed person" approach, but I don't have strong feelings about it.

However, my daughter who plays a catfolk character will definitely NOT like a Thundercats looking "Catfolk". We already found an image that's got the "uplifted cat" look for her character sheet though, so we're good.

Hello fellow GMs, I'm looking for some advice on running D1.

I'm about to put my players through D1, though I'm worried that they might be too high level. Right now, they're just on the edge of hitting APL 3. (3 adventurers and 1 NPC Cleric, all likely to turn 3rd level at the end of their current adventure.) I can hold back some xp to make sure they arrive in town as Level 2, but they're only going to be a few hundred xp short, so will probably hit Level 3 on a random encounter or at the first "stop".

I figure I have a few options:
* Just don't let them get enough xp to level up yet. I don't like this one because I feel like I'm cheating them out of their hard-fought xp.
* Have the NPC cleric get called away so that there are only 3 characters, which would lower APL to 2. I worry because they're getting pretty dependent on the cleric for healing and luck. Maybe it would be useful to have them develop new tactics though.
* Throw in a few extra enemies in lower EL encounters to keep things exciting, but don't worry about things too much.

Does the module assume that players level up to 3rd or even 4th level during this adventure? If that's the case, I can just reinforce the first level encounters some and not worry about it too much.

Thanks,

Interesting. I ran the adventure with the pregen characters and only one experienced player, who had played 2E D&D some time ago, so knew "the drill" if not the details. Having an experienced player along, even if they're not very experienced, really helped.

In our case, if anything it was a little too easy. But we had all four characters present, and scored some lucky rolls at key points of the adventure. In fairness, the final encounter dropped one character and would have dropped a second one had Desna not smiled upon her, so to speak.
