Urizen wrote: Maybe I'm ignorant, but sometimes I tell myself ... $8 to $12 bucks for six plastic dice? What's the markup on this? Seriously? If I'm paying that much for six dice, they had better sparkle and spew comet dust when I spin that d20 for a crit.
Seriously, what's realistic? I can't remember the last time I actually bought dice.
If you scroll down or check the other pages, you'll find opaque uninked sets for $5. That's about as cheap as you'll find and these are really good dice, but no comet dust.
BTW, the gamestation store link wraithstrike posted is an Amazon store.
Wow! I feel like it was my birthday! Thanks, and I hope your day was awesome.
I think going for a younger target audience was a smart move, because let's face it, there's no way they could have made a better version for us old farts.
Frickin' Charter Cable! Internet issues have me down, might be slow to no posting through the weekend.
Have you checked the Minotaur of Legend in Monster Manual 2 (it uses the Creature of Legend template)?

Too late, I tied the knot a month ago. Thanks though.
Held off joining facebok until I became unemployed. This is my first group.

You broke it!
I like Pathfinder and 4e. The page says I picked up Pathfinder due to my hatred of 4e. A lot of that page is a really one-sided (and angry) view of events that needs to be cleaned up.
Entropi wrote: His left hand is not attached to his arm, only to his staff, and doesn't really fit in his sleeve. And his face is somewhat crappy painted.
I think I can paint his robes black myself, if that helps.
Correction: It's worth more if his robes are black and it says Gen Con Promo on the bottom.
If the figure is busted up and poorly painted, it's usually worth less (or worthless). If you just got it out of the booster broken and it's still sealed you might be able to return it to WotC for some sort of replacement. I got a broken Excorcist of the Silver Flame once and was able to return the whole booster for a new booster through the FLGS where I bought it.
It's worth more if his robes are black instead of red.

It's a holiday weekend here in the states (and belated Happy Thanksgiving!) and I'm exceptionally busy until Sunday. BTW, I'm starting a temp job next week and that might slow me down a little too. I'll do what I can.
Update: I'm starting a temp job next Monday that's paying better and could lead to something permanent. The union at my old place is working to get my job back, but that's a process that could take months. And my savings are still holding strong.
Things are good enough that I bought my wife's Christmas present today (a new camera) and a book for me (Monte Cook's Collected Book of Experimental Might). Thanks Black Friday!
Had the pdf's, but $10 for the hardcopy was too good a price. Any chance this is a signed copy?
I'm thankful for my beautiful wife. I don't think I'd have made it this far without her.
I'm thankful for my friends. When family failed me, they were there.
I'm thankful for RPG's. Not all my friends play, but without the game, I wouldn't have all my friends.

Three years; how would any of you like it if someone stole your kids for three years and the courts literally said "well, we gotta go slow with this sort of thing"
This has maximum suckage; sheesh I eat Raman noodles and frozen vegatables and work my butt off and dont get much for it; hope the worm turns soon for all of us.
A couple of my players are psychologists and did work for the courts evaluating families. They said it was the the most painful job in the world. Filtering through all the facades people throw up while being evaluated combined with having to interrogate children is a difficult process and nobody wants to make the wrong choice.
Hopefully the outcome is worth the wait.
I've been selling off my miniatures collection, and it was this mini that had me regreting th chance to buy more.
I appreciate the support, and lesson learned. I spent my honeymoon practicing threatening to buy people salads, well, not really. Today is full of self-loathing, and tomorrow I begin the quest for professional reconstruction.
If anybody is the area of Worcester, MA is looking for an intelligent, exceptionally hard-worker, I'm here.

On October 29th I was suspended from work, without pay, for a joke that could have been percieved as a threat. My wedding was planned for November 8th, and I had planned two weeks of vacation time around that (one week before, one after). So, I didn't hear from my work for two weeks, with that communication being "We'll call you."
I got married; it rocked. I left for Vegas; again, it rocked. The last days of my vacation I contacted my work looking for instruction. Last Friday as I flew home, an HR rep from my work called and left a voice message directing me to report to work at the start of shift Monday.
I got to work at 6:30 this morning and waited in an empty conference room until 7:45. The whole time I thought that things would be cleared up because inviting somebody to work at 6:45 after two weeks just to fire them seemed kind of ridiculous. Then I was fired. Management says they couldn't risk me actually "cuttng somebody in the face", even if the subject of the comment knew it was a joke, even if the management knew it was a joke.
I had to dropout of college in order to support myself, and I have no specialized training. I worked at a simple warehouse shipping job for just over 11 years. The pay was good for the job, way more than I'd make starting at a similiar job. The benefits were solid, but I think I'll do ok on my wife's plan. And bonus: I was just starting to informally train for a supervisor's assistant sort of position. On the bright side, I also had a union that is saying they'll push to get my job back, even to the point of taking it to court.
Right now, I'm doing my best not to panic. I've got a few leads on possible jobs, and I have some savings to hold me over for a few weeks. The wife is supportive, and she's been pushing me to quit this job for a while, something about working to my potential. She says this is a forced opportunity. Still, it's hard to keep the thoughts of how things could wind up from creeping in. My stomach is a mess.
It's not right that I should go from so incredibly happy to nightmarishly fearful for my livlihood.
Thanks! It was pretty nice to be able to post in the Good Things thread.
In about 11 hours I'll be happily wed.
I'm getting married in less than 12 hours and then I'm heading out to Vegas! Don't expect a post for about a week.

It looks like all the figs are just rebased D&D minis.
Damn! I'm going to Vegas for my honeymoon, but not until Monday.
If I'm DMing, I only use GameScience dice, which seem to be pretty cheap everywhere. But my favorite dice are from Q-Workshop and the cheapest place to buy their dice seems to be on ebay.
Q-Workshop on ebay.
cthulhudarren wrote: To me it looks like a blatant recast of the blood golem of Hextor. The titan came out first and is huge sized. Actually, if there is a resemblance it's due to the initial art. Both are dead-on to their sources. The titan appears in the Eberron Campaign Setting and I believe the blood golem was initially seen in the pages of Dragon Magazine.
Umm, that article is a year old.
Rough weekend (bachelor party, dinner with future in-laws) has slowed me down. Expect a post tomorrow.
Mairkurion {tm} wrote: Go, GW! So, was it Halloween and Bachelor party?
Set, I think it's the crunch -- makes perfect sense to me. I've got to remember to do that.
Yep, last night was pretty rough on me. But on the bright side, my friends helped put several exotic dancers through school.

[not the suck]Getting married in a week.[/not the suck]
In the past 3 months...
- my cat and brand new apartment were infested with fleas,
- I was in a head-on collision (I'm ok, my fiance's car is totalled),
- sold off the majority of my miniature collection (my babies) to pay for wedding,
- the FLGS where I run a couple of f2f games is switching to an internet sales based model and is closing its doors on Sunday,
- was suspended from work today and may lose my job after a manager overhead a comment and percieved it as a threat (though the target of the percieved threat took it as a jest).
I feel overwhelmed, but on the other hand my life is very closely resembling a romantic comedy, and those usually end well.

Mairkurion {tm} wrote: And what the heck is the relationship between the foulspawn and the grue?
Of these, all I've seen so far is the Foulspawn seer, who is waving at me from the table as I post.
Sorry to hear of your computer problems, Gene. Hope they cost little in terms of frustration or money.
Way to bait a flame war. You don't want me to explain any 4e flavor here[/sarcasm]
Here's a bit from the MM:
FOULSPAWN ARE DERANGED HUMANOIDS corrupted by contact
with the Far Realm, a maddening and distant plane.
Foulspawn come in many shapes and sizes, but they share a
universal contempt for natural creatures.
Foulspawn gather in roving packs and are drawn to serve
powerful aberrant creatures such as aboleths, beholders, and
mind flayers.
In the first MM there are the grue, seer, mangler, berserker, and hulk. All have minis except the berserker. And my favorite is the mangler (sadly, both I had were sold).
My wedding is in less than three weeks, and I was in a similiar state concerning the groomsmen's gifts. Then I found swords! I bought them each a bastard sword from this site:
Strongblade Swords
Their pricing is surprisingly reasonable. The quality is amazing. And shipping took only 4 days.
These are ending.
And I'm about to post the rares from Against the Giants, Dangerous Delves, and Legendary Evils.
JaisunS wrote: Anyone know anywhere a guy can get a sack full of common mini's of various sizes on the cheep? I don't really care about their collect-ability and all. I just wish I had a variety of miniatures to use for D&D and I don't have time to paint or the money to buy up a good supply of the tiny, small, medium, large ones. I'm currently in the process of selling my minis on ebay. If you have a paypal account (and trust a random guy from the Paizo boards), shoot me an email. I can ship you a pile of commons at say 50 cents apiece plus the cost of shipping. I have most from every set and could pack quite a few without any repeats.

PC's Names: Grimfar; Grom
Races: half-orcs
Classes: barbarian/fighter; barbarian
Levels: 7
Circumstances of Death: After a very efficient confrontation with Olangru, the party began trashing the shrine to Demogorgon instead of healing up and regrouping. Just as Grom tried to knock over the golem, it awakened. Being enlarged for the fight with Olangru, they avoided being grappled by the golem, but it only took a few rounds of 4 attacks for 1d8+8 damage and the potential for 1d4 Con damage to add up.
Adventure: Here Be Monsters
I have a friend that pronounces gnoll to rhyme with doll. We had always pronounced it like knoll.
Another pile is up. These are mostly from Deserst of Desolation, Dungeons of Dread, and Demonweb.

Paizo added a dice roller app to the BBCodes. If you'd prefer to use that instead of the pre-rolls just add it into your post. The code is (dice)1d20+5(/dice), but switch () for [].
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
