We are getting ready to start this AP and while discussing our characters, we realized we have no tank. No major damage dealer for the front line. We have a bard, a fighter (cad, focusing on dirty tricks), and 2 rogues ( knifemaster and one going for arcane trickster). Given your experience in this AP, do you think a group of this make up can survive and do well in the AP? We may have a fourth player who wants to play a cleric, so for now ignore that missing link. Thoughts?
Saw this the other day on kickstarter and would love to see it finished. Its looks like a amazing story. Described as Facebook, but nobody gets rich. Has some interesting interview clips with Gygax discussing the game as well as the huge "dnd is evil" theme of the 80's. Hope this gets funded. If a magus cast a touch spell that allows him a touch attack for multiple rounds, can he deliver the touch attack each round through his weapon, or only on the first round when the spell is actually cast? For example, a 4th level magus uses spellstrike to cast Frostbite and delivers the attack through his weapon. Frostbite allows you to use the touch attack one time per level before the spell is gone. So, for 3 rounds after can he still use his weapon to deliver the spell attack or must he choose either a weapon attack for regular weapon damage or the touch attack to deal the spell damage? I hope I am not confusing anyone. I'm kind of confusing myself. Thanks for any help.
Did anyone notice the gaming references in tonight's episode? Have they been in the whole time and I've just missed them, or was tonight the first time? Tonight I heard Ripper say..."You're rolling the dice, and the DM is on your side" I also heard the guy jousting (I forget his name) say..." We rolled the dice, and they came up criticals.", talking about the double unhorsing. Pretty good show. Those hits have got to hurt.

This guy needs some decaf. The encounter is not perfect, but it is better than this guy is giving you credit for. I like it. You get a vote from me.
I'm curious, since I was not able to attend Gen Con last year, will PFS be in the same space it was in 2010? In 2010, it was just across from the exhibit hall, closest to the CC entrance by the new JW hotel. I'm really excited about returning this year, and hope the Society stuff is in the same location since we are in the same hotel. Short walk for most of my games :)
I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with. If they are using feedback from Monte's L and L feature, then they have some interesting ideas cooking. I am not a fan of 4th edition, I did not buy a single 4th product, but I'm still willing to give them a chance. I'm honestly hoping I love it and they put out Darksun for it. I was very sad to see the new Darksun and know I could never play it.
I saw on the ST boards that there was a request for journals detailing a group's adventures in the camaign. I have posted journal entries from my players in that thread. Just wanted to let people know who may have been interested in reading them. We are only 2 sessions in. I will post more as I get them.
I am not getting the hardcover, so now I'm worried about this. I don't want to get all the way and miss the final part of the story. Can someone give me the scoop on what will be in the 15th installment? I'm fine with missing some "bonus" material, but if it is the actual ending to the story, perhaps I should finish the campaign after the desolation and not worry about getting the other books. Thanks.
I am really looking forward to the Skull and Shackles AP that starts in March and have started working on a character concept. You guessed it, he's a pirate....I'm thinking either straight gunslinger or gunslinger/rogue acrobat. I'll likely go straight gunslinger (I am an optimizer and hate splitting classes as a general rule). I want him to be able to have his sward and pistol out at the same time. I see visions of close combats on ships stabbing the guy in front of me and then shooting at a guy coming over the side farther down the ship. How can I make this work? I'm not looking at getting more than one attack like TWF, I just want to have the sword in one hand and the pistol in the other so I can alternate what I'm attacking with each round. How can I make this work? Thanks for any help you can give me.
Thanks for the replies everyone. Another question, I thought I saw blunt arrows somewhere before, but I can't recall where. Do any of you remember seeing this, and where could I find them? Also, I do not have the PFS Field Guide. How long does the ghost salt stay on the weapon? Is it until they are fired, or does it wear off after time? What type of action is it to apply? Thanks again!
Can the ghost touch weapon special ability be put on a ranged weapon? It is not listed in the ranged weapon special ability chart. If not, does anyone have any idea why? Is there something about it that would seem broken? I was looking at doing an archery style ranger with favored enemy undead. Hoping to get the ghost touch ability on my bow for all the incorpreal undead out there. Thanks for the help.
I'm thinking of picking up the BB for my oldest two kids for Christmas (10 year old girl and 11 year old boy). I'm just curious how many players will be needed for it. Does it assume the standard 4 person party, or is it more open to more/less players? Living in the bible belt, I fear it will be very difficult to convince parents of my kid's friends to come over and play a fantasy RPG.
Thanks for all your replies! I have never played a Necromancer product before, so I was unsure about the general no holds barred type of game play. I am very excited about running this, and after reading the opening of the series, I informed my players that there was a high potential for death and they seem to be excited by the prospect of such danger. I did allow them to make multiple characters (so they had a back up if their character was killed) and I am using hero points and I let them use a 30 point buy (if i got a good written backstory for the character). With the perks I have given them, I am planning on running everything as is, and let the chips fall where they may. If I am killing a lot of PC's and the players seem frustrated, then I'll look at toning it down a bit. Also Greg, I wanted to let you know that though I have never purchased a Necromancer or Frog God product before, I am now on my way to owning the entire ST series and I am sure I will be picking up other things in your product line. I wanted to say thanks for giving out free copies of ST1 at Gencon 2010. When I was given it, it just went into my bag and got stuck on my shelf when I got home. Its was a few months later that I was looking something to read and happened upon it sitting on my game shelf. I picked it up, started reading, and knew half way through that this was going to be my next campaign. The NPC's and the Camp itself really drew me in. I can't wait to run it. Sorry for my babbling wall of text, just wanted you to know that giving away the free product at Indy last year has netted you at least one happy customer. Thanks again!
I am getting ready to run ST fr my group and have a concern about one of the monsters. The Ashborne Arachnae Mother at area A8 of ST2 is listed as CR 12. My concern is her poison. DC 26 Fort, 1/round for 6 rounds, 2d8 STR damage! Is this for real? Could this be a typo? I know she is a high CR monster, but the 2d8 Str damage just seems very nasty. I can't think of any other poison that does that kind of ability damage. I've been playing for a long time, but I'm no expert in the monster department so I was hoping for some help here. Should I adjust the poison or is it correct as is written? Thanks for your help.
Thats great. Thanks. Another question. I was going to start a new thread but I'll wait and see if I can get an answer here. How exactly are the "bits" supposed to work in the camp? I know the party can get 1 bit for 5 gold pieces. But how do they spend the bits? If an item cost 15 gold in the corebook, do the players pay 3 bits or do they pay 15 bits (making the 15gp item actually cost them 75 gold)?
Has anyone done a printable map of the Camp for Slumbering Tsar? I'm about to start running it for my group and I would love to have a player map to hand out. I hate to buy the PDF just to print a single map. I know some folks do all kinds of home made handouts and such and was hoping someone could point me to some. Also, any other advice or stuff to point out would be very helpful. Thanks everyone.
I'm not sure how to do this, but I want to receive the last book of the Carrion Crown adventure path and cancel the subscription. The order email says that you are shipping the first book of the new AP with the last of Carrion Crown. I think that is why they tried to charge my card for $34.37,right? Can you please take the other book off the order and then try again? I got paid today so the money is in there now. Is there anything else I need to do? Thank you for your time. By the way, I'm not canceling the subscription because I'm unhappy with anything, just that money is very tight and Carrion Crown will last me a good year. That's plenty of gaming for the time being. Thanks again.
I've recently picked up the first 3 books of the Slumbering Tsar campaign from Frog God Games. I'm really digging the adventure, but I want to set it on Golarion. What suggestions can you give me for... 1: where to set the camp and the desolation? 2: what demon prince to replace Orcus with? Thanks very much for any advice you can give!
Are the maps in th folios meant to be handed out to players, or do they have the same important location markings from the books? I hope I am asking this right. As an example: the map on page 27 of Haunting of Harrowstone. Notice it has R5 listed on the map, which is something the players should find on their own. Handing this map as is to a player would say... " Hey, there is something in these 2 areas. You should go look around there." Will the folio map of this location have the same markings? I know I could draw the map myself, leaving out the markings for R5, but my drawing is terrible, and the players would miss out on the awesome map that has been provided. Sorry for such a long post asking such a simple question. Thanks for your help.
I really want to try the music thing out when I run this AP. I've made a list of the songs that I think will work well for my group, but I have no idea how to make a cd or how to get the individual songs. Computers are not my friend. Anyone willing to help me out? I'd be willing to pay for the time put into it. If not, perhaps I'll just pick up a Nox Arcana album and see how that goes. I'm really looking forward to starting this. |
