i have used the Striders of Fharlangh as Harper Agents, changing the clerics to followers of Shaundakul.

i made a mistake there coz i didnt remember the PCs in my party :)

at the begining of chapter 4:

- CG human fighter 3/psion (telepath) 3
- LG human paladin of Kelemvor 3/cleric of Kelemvor 3
- NG human sorcerer 6
- CG aasimar sorcerer 5

little versatility but lots of firepower and they fall for most of the traps :)

you have Vortimax Weer as a player? hehe...

i have to note that i have chosen one of the mountains of the eastern part of the chultan peninsula to place cauldron after all. the dinos and apeman and jungle stories require the setup...

I have played the game from first level with my players. I did the following additions to their background:

- The paladin PC took the noble feat and i placed him into the Vanderboren family as the younger (not adopted) brother of Todd, who always harasses him and makes fun of him since the start of the campaign.

- The paladin is a paladin of Kelemvor (who i used instead of Wee Jas due to the Forgotten Realms setting). He is also confornted with Ike and Calmus all the time, though I had Calmus change slowly and turn to evil (and change to the old death faith of Myrkul as the others in the temple). He is in a doubt and is worried about this fellow clergymen, but he is also loyal to Embril (who hides her true evil alignment) who he has almost never seen so far due to her reculsiveness.

- The paladin also admires and looks up on Alek Tercival who he sees as role model. This will make him get more involved later in the Demonscar story.

- There is a fighter/psion in our team, who is the son of Mikimax the innkeeper from Redgore. He knows that his father is in friendship with Maavu and the other craftsman. This was he is personally draw into the story with the Demonscar.

- There is an aasimar sorcerer who we made to be an orphan, living in the Lantern street orphanage. This drew tham all into investigating the dissapearances in the city in Life's Bazaar.

- The other sorcerer is a jungle delver, hill billy who lived in an evil voodoo style tribe around the haunted village, has the necropolis born feat and is a creepy witchmaster kind of sorcerer. He just realised during the last session that he served Myrkul in his tribe, protecting the haunted vilage from visitors. He turned to Kelemvor (via the paladin) and even took the Arcane Devotee prestige class.

I also introduced them to Valanthru who met them at the Flood fest drinking contest, which he wins each year. (This made my PCs really suspicous about his true nature...)

I also had an easy way of confronting them with the Stormblades thru Todd and his relation with his brother.

Beased on an idea in some of the posts I introduced Kaurophon earlier, helping the temple of Tyr (St Cuthbert) revocering the wands, by telling about the hideout of Triel. He is acting as a demon who wants to purify and make Occipitus a holy realm again, removed from the Abyss.

i am unable to find this entry anywhere in the book... all i found that the captain was an 8th level fighter. please tell me where i find his stats!

my players had these choices and are at these levels at the end of chapter 3:
- human, fighter 3/psion (telepath) 3
- human, paladin 4/cleric of Kelemvor 2
- human, sorcerer 5/ arcane devotee of Kelemvor 1
- aasimar, sorcerer 6

my players moved away from the grell and fought while retrieving in several different directions so that the non-grell-targetted PCs could always fire something nasty at the aberration. this way the grell could do only a move and one attack with it's paralytic tentacle in one round. even so the fight was huge fun as many of the PCs (being 2nd level) fell and the palading finished the beast of with a thrown bastard sword (-4 on attack) combined with a heroic smite evil (+4 attack and +2 damage in this case) that came out to be a critical. it was very good i tell you :)

cant really move it coz it's my beds pillar but it is useful and we also always lack space coz of charsheets, maps, DMscreen, dice, food, drinks, smokes, ashtrays, etc... :)

i have to note here, that i got hooked on this game :) as did my players who throw away girlfriends, million dollar businesses and lake side parties just to be present for a session... :)

thanks for all the peeps who made it possible!!!

my players had these choices and are at these levels at the end of chapter 2:
- human, fighter 2/psion (telepath) 2
- human, paladin 3/cleric of Kelemvor 1
- human, sorcerer 4
- aasimar, sorcerer 3

i am considering forming the story so that Admiarchus is the de-immortalized remainder of Myrkul's final essences, who is a prisoner of Cyric on Carceri, which is a prison demiplane inside the plane of Cyric. Cyric keeps the remainder of Myrkul coz he wants the Death domain from Kelemvor and keeps any ties to it (such as the remaining form of the old death god) that might help him later. The Kelemvorite leading priests (Embril as their leader, Ike and later Calmus) have all turned to the old faith of Myrkul and wish him released and also the most havoc wracked (deaths caused) with the opening of the portal to Carceri.

Its yet hard for me to place the Cagewrights into this storyline, but they might just be powerhungry individuals who band up to achieve a goal together. I also have to add that i am still not fully familiar with the second half of the book and that's where this story might get a bit complicated, though so far it seems so that this will do.

Any suggestions would be greately appritiated! Thanks!

Hello guys!

Just wanted to add a few photos we made while playing the game. They are quite blurry...

Thanks for the great book to all the writers and illustrators of this campaign book.

I used Ilmater for Kord, and will use the Myrkul idea for the evil Kelemvorites. I also used Tempus as the god for Zachary who is CN in alignment.

will do exactly that mate! :)

DMFTodd, you are so right about this. I will make the PC paladin know from the beginning that there is taint in their temple, will lure him into organising the resistance from within the church, be cast out for some made up heressy if he interferes as a low level character, and create a whole lot of drama about the whole thing :) I will also place him in the royalty as the younger brother of Todd Vanderboren, the evil adpoted child of the Vanderborens who will make his life even harder. This will give the game lots of cool RPG elements. Now i have to figure out some similarly complicated background for the two other players... Thanks Todd, and guys! You've been lots of help for me!

hi! the maps are not all available any more under www3.sympatico.ca/icebreaker.

can you guys please fix that? or is there a point to them being removed?

thanks mate i now all this (and what i ment was that a paladin of kelemvor probably had tried his detect thoughts ability in the temple at least once for 3 round in his life :)), and the headband/ring/whatever of undetectable alignment might prove to be a good solution... though i am not sure what really happens. can you summarize that for me? i saw that Embril and Ike are members of that secret organization, but are they like that from the beginning? also i am not sure how to play an evil cleric of kelemvor... but i will try figuring out some points whre the paladin PC might have conflicts with them... any help would be appretiated :) thanks!

Hello there!

I am readying the book and will start the campaign for my players this saturday. We will have a PC playing a paladin of WeeJas (Kelemvor), and I have seen that the temple will have a big role in the story later. Please let me know how to introduce the NPC WeeJas clerics to my PC who will have detect evil ready all the time. I has no chance to read the whole book yet, so i am asking for your advice on handling these NPCs at the start of the game. Can someone please summarize what the exact situation with them will be later? I saw that everyone NPC in the temple is evil. Are they like that from the beginning or do they s!~# alignment during the course of the adventure? Or should i tell my PC paladin that he detects evil in the whole place, yet he still serves the clergy? Please advise! Thanks a lot!

well i think the chultan peninsula is not really the type of place that the designs and artowrk for the game suggests. all the houses and the dresses of the characters are pictured as if they were medieval german style... i expect the chultan peninsula to have a more tribal and less european style and environment with a constant 40 degrees celsius and 70% humidity. there are tribes of wild dwarves and rampaging dinosaurs in the realm of Ubtao, so for me it is more like an aztec or inca civilization that i imagine to be there, though i know maztica is there for that. well it might be just me but the pictures show me something different then chult.
thanks anyway, but any other ideas?

That is the question and i dont have the answer for it... We talked placing it on an isle within the Mooshea Isles... but let me know if you have a better idea!

Thanks,
Gabor
