I agree some of them are quite scary, simply because they built the suspense like a good movie should; camera angles, spooky music at the right places, etc... Reisdent Evil: When the zombie arms burst through the window in the police station that you had walked past a million times before freaked me out big time. As did the dog jumping through the interrogation room mirror... I had been in that room and there was nothing in there. I swear there is a hole in my inlaws roof from when I was playing in the dark in an empty house one night. I seriously had to turn the game off and turn on every light in the house and sit on the lounge with my back against the wall facing the door until someone got home.
Silent Hill: The first baby attck in the alley freaked me out. So did running around in the fog at first, then it just became annoying. James Jacobs wrote:
I loved Se7en... Lust was my personal "creepiest moment". The Blair Witch Project was mega scary the first time around (especially after reading the back story) but it was not scary at all the second time.Jaws scared me too as a kid, although not so much now.

I agree with Olaf about The Ring. It was very creepy and made it hard to sleep that night. It is a once only view however. Before my friend and I saw The Ring 2, we watched The Ring again and it was nowhere near as creepy and neither was the second. It (omho the most true to story of Stephen King's movie translations)and Candyman both scared me as well (and I made my little sister watch Candyman with me the first time). We both got scared and turned it off after the first scene with the girls. messy wrote:
You know after hearing so much about The Shining I honestly didn't find it that scary. A little creepy in some places, but I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be considering it was a combination of King & Kubrick. My scariest movie isn't really a current movie, but when I was little I saw like 30 seconds of the Werewolf transforming in American Werewolf in London and couldn't sleep properly for months. It scared the crap out of me. Steve Greer wrote:

I like to sit down today and have a good old laugh at modern slasher horror (as opposed to when I was younger and liked to sit down and not move a muscle for an hour and a half at old school slasher horror). What really gets me creepy scared are well done Thrillers. I sat down one day to watch Jeepers Creepers 2, The remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Gothika and you know what... the one that scared me the most was Gothika. My favourite Horror Movie however is John Carpenter's version of The Thing... LOVE it! Is there any movie that combines John Carpenter and Kurt Russell that isn't pure gold (even though Escape from LA pushes it). P.S. if any of you are interested, check out Mordum, a movie by August Underground. Toe Tag Pictures

Thanks to Paizo for the sturdy envelope that kept my postal worker from attempting to bend it. My modules were perfectly preserved. I eagerly await future modules in the GameMastery line. They will make the loss of Dungeon magazine a little easier to take. Kudos Paizo! Australia here and I got D0 week before last and D1 last week. They are as previously stated simply top notch productions. D0 I got a note in the letter box saying I had to pick it up from the Post Office.D1 however the stupid Postie decided that it would in fact fit into our letterbox (as it has a larger than normal slit). Thankfully the sturdy envelope took the brunt of the bend and I only got a very slight bend in my module. The Jade wrote:
Jade that is a MAD site. I bookmarked it for sure. Now I can show all of my friends that I am right when I correct their spelling mistakes. Maybe you need not to jump to critical thinking and just try to use thinking and favor that with common sense. Which is funny since they call it common sense and you have proven it is far from common. Dude are you mentally deficient? Using your bowl theory:If you look into the bowl BEFORE drawing them out you have 2 balls left. Only after you take one out are you left with one. This is EXACTLY what James said to you in his original post (way back 6 and one quarter hours ago). It is advertising the fact that there are 2 issues to go, as you haven't actually picked up this issue yet, you are just reading the cover at this point. The cover is telling you that there are 2 issues to go. OK I'll admit once you actually buy the magazine this becomes a little fuzzy, but it has been stated by numerous PAIZO Employees that it's sole purpose is as an advertising machanism prior to purchase. If you cannot get this through your obviously slightly thickened cranium then I am afraid that maybe you should instead be subscribing to the "Cat in the Hat" series. Man, PAIZO bend over backwards in the customer service department. For you to be critiquing them over such a trivial issue just goes to show how much of a life you don't have. Hey guys I was just wondering if there was any talk about doing "extra" Pathfinder or Gamemastery source books?

We (my Wife and I) have a Credit Card (Mastercard) and a VISA Debit Card. We use the Credit Card to pay for large purchases (and in a pinch if we get stuck) at a Hard Terminal and use the VISA Debit for any Online purchases. That way if (god forbid) anyone does manage to gain illegal access to our card through internet use they are only getting a couple of hundred dollars max instead of a couple of thousand.Used properly a VISA Debit is perfect for internet purchases. It is just like a regular bank account, so you put the money into the account straight before you pay for an item and you can use it like a credit card. Deadpool =) Artemis Entreri - The tortured Assassin with the cool name (although oviously too cool since my wife won't let me name any male children we have Artemis) >:( Dr. Doom - He is just such an Iconic Villain... everything a good Villain should be. Carnage - In his Maximum Carnage days. There was a Villain that was pure and unadulterated evil... he was a mass murder with nothing more on his mind than slaughtering innocents (although any Heroes that got in the was were fair game) in the times when villains just wanted to rob banks or fight Heroes. I agree that the book itself wasn't one of the best, but they really did not have to kill Bart to start up the Wally run again... he was a great support Speedster. What is the possibility of PCs having their Guns Enchanted? If a PC finds a gun it will obviously be non-magical (as stated) but what if he wanted to pay someone to enchant it for him. What possibilities would there be for this? Would anything off the 7-15 Ranged Weapon Special Abilities table in the DMG (and subsequent entries from other sources) be acceptable?
Cheers The Eldritch Mr. Shiny wrote: The thing that I think is the most broken about 3.5 is the whole 'favored classes' system. It just doesn't make sense that if you want to play a dwarven wizard / rogue, you get docked XP. Our group doesn't even use the rule. I agree that there are some aspects of the 'favoured classes' system that are silly, specifically when looking at races from different regions. Let's look at Eberron's Elves as an example:Aerenal Elves: These elves can use the standard Wizard 'FC' without any modification as they are a magical society with a focus towards Necromancy. Valenar Elves: They should have either Fighter or Ranger (or even Barbarian) as their 'FC' as they come from a more martial society that has a large focus on Cavalry. Khorvaire Elf: Being a generic elf I would say that the Wizard 'FC' should do them fine. If however you were looking at Dragonmarked Elves (from Phiarlan or Thuranni), then I would consider that either Rogue or Bard would be a better choice for their 'FC'. In saying this though, Wizard would still be an acceptable choice for 'FC', just not the best. Drow Elves: As a race I think that the Jungle living Drow would be more suited to having Ranger as their 'FC'. With no real female dominated society, there is no need for the split 'FC' of male/female; everyone is treated relatively equally in regards to 'FC'. Now I know that most of you will simply say to change this to suit your game, but I still think that in terms of Regions or Civilizations that races should have differing 'Favoured Classes' written into their histories and rules. Why should someone playing an Elf from a martial culture where there are virtually no Wizards have Wizard as his 'FC'? Just my 2c worth on something that has bugged me a bit lately when reading some of the Eberron sourcebooks. Cheers Destro Fett wrote: Who doesn't have a credit card these days? I was going to suggest a gatefold cover (ala one of the earlier issues before Paizo that I can't seem to find in my collection to quote the # atm)with a heap of the D&D World Specific Iconics (eg. It is frickin awesome (although I did think Eccleston was a better Doctor).
P.S. And the 2nd Christmas Invasion is OK too. P.P.S. If you guys like the New Dr. Who then just wait till you get a load of Torchwood. It will blow you out of the water. I have recently started reading some of the Eberron Novels (namely the afore mentioned Blood of the Flame trilogy, The Inquisitives & The Shadows of the Last War Anthology)and those writers are all quite good and relatively unknown in this genre (the gaming novel). <Spoilers>
We have ONLY played Life's Bazaar so far, but my character was killed by the Choker under the stage after I stuck my head down the hole. It decided to grab my head and slam me into the ground acouple of times until I was unconscious and then to slowly constrict me until I died (all the while screaming -5, -6, -7, -8, -9 c'mon guys kill it already).

Personally I don't see a problem with guns as part of the setting. Eberron has Cyborgs and trains for frick's sake. It's not like they are that technologically advanced or anything. Most people don't even realize that firearms are a part of the Forgotten Realms also, but that doesn't stop people from buting FR products. I also don't understand how it is that difficult to "strip" them out of the Campaign Setting. If you don't want to use them there is a simple answer to your problem... don't use them! If an adventure says that someone has a pistol, replace it with a hand/light crossbow or a shortbow. If they have a rifle, replace it with a heavy/repeating crossbow or a longbow. It's really not that difficult. It also comes down to the availability of guns in the world. If they are expensive/rare, then players may not be able to afford/find them. Also, think about this: A gun takes along time to reload in most D&D rulesets. Any kind of multi-attacks are therfore useless, so you might hit for 1d10 every 2 rounds with your rifle. Mr. Elf over here with his Rapid shooting Longbow has a plethora of 1d8 attacks available to him in that same time frame... who is the more efficient ranged fighter? Honestly I feel that they are more included for flavour than anything else and I think it's fine. If my players want to use guns then they can use guns... if they don't then they won't. Simple. flash_cxxi 1. Shimmergloom (Shadow Dragon from Streams of Silver)

As an aside, I REALLY love the look of the 3rd Ed. Blue Dragon, even going so far as to buy the Gargantuan Blue Dragon when I don't even play the Miniatures Game!
My horror story involves the Black Dragon Khisanth (Onyx) from the Dragonlance Saga.
