You win DnD. A winner is you.

We were all pretty pleased with the decision, in the end. There was definitely cheering, and we might have sung the Zotzilla theme song a bunch of times. I forget. ;)

That's awesome!

So did they fight him yet?

We fought him last night; I'm sure that Rakshaka or I will post details as soon as we have more than a few moments at our computer.

Well, tonight's the night. Standing fast against the Prince of Demons, the following group of heroes will fight their last battles in Wat Dagon tonight:

Lord Admiral Darius Saul, Dragonborn Dragon Shaman 13/Fighter 4/Legendary Leader 5

Skelthane Seabeard, Dwarf Wizard 13/Demonwrecker Arcane 4/Archmage 5 (I think)

Vorel "Grace" Troth, Dragonborn Cleric 11/Combat Medic 5/Demonwrecker 4

August Simons X (his tenth incarnation), Aasimar Factotum 20

and Mad Roger Rackham, Captain, a human Swashbuckler/Ranger/Leviathan Hunter whose levels I've never been able to keep track of.

To all like-minded adventurers out there -- wish us luck! We've been playing for over a year, and I've never enjoyed a campaign as much as I have the STAP. I'll post full details as soon as the dust settles and everybody is healed or laid to rest. ;)

I may do something like that, but then I worry about the POTCaribbean rip-off factor.

We have a PC in our group named Mad Roger Rackham who is the biggest Jack Sparrow rip-off in existence. The first night I gamed with the group, the player (also named Roger) was dressed in full PoTC costume. Man, does he love those movies.

This led to us *also* having a Davy Jones (and yes, he was an illithid pirate captain), a fight with a kraken, and a duel (just last session) between Roger and Davy that happened *inside* the belly of the selfsame kraken (the spot from where Jones had been astral projecting). We've also played pirate dice in character (as well as three dragon ante), made numerous references to "the Code", and as one of the admirals of the Emerald Crest, I have no doubt that Roger is going to steal one of my ships and force me to hunt him all over the seven seas -- just as soon as we finish this whole pesky saving the world bit. In my own STAP campaign (the one I'm running, as opposed to the one I'm playing in), I've been very tempted to replace Charon with Davy Jones entirely, in keeping with the ferryman of the dead idea.

In short, we've flat-out ripped off the movie a zillion times, and loved every minute of it. I imagine your players may have a similar reaction -- sure, it puts a bit more wink-wink nudge-nudge humor into the game, but that can be a good thing. And those movies resonate with us for a reason, which is part of why all of us saw the first issue for STAP and went "Pirates? Dinosaurs? OMG AWESOME!!!"

In short, though YMMV, I don't know that I would worry about it so much. ;)

I am gratefully accepting suggestions at the moment, which will be received with cries of girlish glee, and the promise of cookies that will, saddly, most likely never be delivered.

So it's railroading of the highest order, sure, but if there's anyone still around the area (or even among the list of random encounters) that has a Greater Dispel handy, you can delay your players for at least another day or two by popping one of them out of Windwalk (provided, of course, that your party doesn't think to take it twice). Just flat out fudge the spot check necessary -- you gotta think that you'll get at least one of the PCs with an area dispel.

Failing that, there's all sorts of plot hooks you could throw them to make them stay away from Farshore for an extended period of time -- perhaps the easiest to set up would be an encounter with one of the infamous seven. The dragon comes to investigate the sounds of battle from the island; they catch a glimpse of the ankylosaurus while soaring above, etc.

If even that doesn't work for you, who's to say that the abduction of Lavinia happens while they're at Taboo Island? Give the players some well-deserved downtime, then send them to any number of sidequests that takes them out of Farshore again -- a negotiation with one of the Olman tribes, a pearl-hunt in masher water, or even just a voyage around the perimeter of the Isle to map the coast for the Emerald Crest.

Our DM did a similar thing, and allowed certain long-running NPCs to remain on board, as well as allowing us to hallow the ship. I haven't seen any real game issues come up as a result (and your point on vile damage is well taken, believe me), and the RP opportunities that have resulted have been well worth the rules-bending, IMO (for reference, we're in the last module now). I intend to do much the same with the Wyvern, if not more, when running my own STAP campaign for another group of players -- especially because I run for a more RP-intensive crowd.

On a personal level, having the Wyvern around when I gained my fifth level of Legendary Leader and acquired the To Hell and Back ability was especially cool, since by then we had done exactly that (or at least the chaotic-aligned equivalent *g*).

Spoiler:
That, and now our Sea Wyvern has a force missile ballista and an acid launcher as its primary guns. Thanks, vanquished demonic armies! ;)

BTW....Lobster Craw? You call a demon prince Lobster Craw? Who came up with that one?

Speaking as another member of Rakshaka's party, I'm pretty sure it's one of those "laugh so you don't cry" moments. Because between the number of demon princes that know us by name and that blasted flask, I can certainly see how we're going to get screwed nine ways from Sunday.

...but until then, we have Lobster Craw in a Jar. ;)

Otherwise entitled: Holy crap, is that another artifact?!

So we kick the crap out of some more demon armies, and find that...

Spoiler:

Gorgant's chest includes, among many other items, something called a +5 sunshield. Our gaming group scoured what sourcebooks we have, and couldn't find the item in question.

Finally, one of our players suggested that it might be the Shield of Prator, and I can see the logic: the SoP is a +5 heavy shield emblazoned with the face of the sun -- that could be a +5 sunshield, right? But I'm inclined to believe it's something less powerful, and wanted clarification. Does anyone know what the stats for this item are -- or, better yet, where it's referenced?

Thanks!

I won't need it for ages, but I'd like to see what you've come up with.

Ditto. We're only in There Is No Honor, and my players already hate his guts. More fuel to the fire would be excellent. ellegua AT gmail.com, if you would be so kind.

I'll gladly jump on this bandwagon. My email's lillornyn AT gmail (dotcom).

Thanks!

Can this be scanned (even in sections) and uploaded to the RPGenius site? It sounds AMAZING. I love props, and I am about to start Flood Season, so having a huge foreshadowing prop would be great.

Ditto. I've also taken the Triel Lathenmire route (particularly satisfying since the PC paladin just started getting interested in Cora), and I'd like to be able to drop this clue just before the Demonskar Ball.
