Liberty's Edge

Thanks, 'tis awesome!

Liberty's Edge 1/5

Quick question/observation on the flooded level.

Once the elevator is moved, 23,000 cubic feet of water drains in 5 minutes, which is a flow rate of about 70 cubic ft/second!

That's about 4,000 lbs of force pushing things out of the room (on average) while it empties. (Just think about real-life floods-a 10 ft high river sweeps cars and houses away regularly, flowing MUCh slower than that. Or, in Two Towers when they bust open the damn above Isengarde).

All the party has to do is survive the intial crush of water, raise the elevator (by hand somehow, with 6,000 lbs of water in there with them), wait 5 minutes, and the room will be cleaned for them. No keys, no monsters...nothing. On the bright side, that amount of water, as it picks up speed (thanks, gravity!) should blow open the doors to the other levels anyway, so the keys will be a bit of a moot point.

I think I'll make a few adjustments...but I think I'll keep the part where the door opened unexpectedly means everyone floating in the flooded room will exit abrutply in a big pile, along with the treasure, right into the elevator while the water pins everyone down for a few rounds.

Should make for interesting combat.

I like the idea overall. A set percentage chance to win, with maybe a few percentage nudge controllable by scenarios played/results obtained by a group would be awesome, I think.

Having a set path with a defined effect (play this, get boon) will result in grinding by players. Which just seems odd, since unusual races are supposed to be...you know...unusual.

Liberty's Edge

Ah, that is going to be awesome! Structured rules and the ability to make hanging around town meaningful.

Can't wait!

Well, welcome and good luck in your shiny new career!

What's the word on getting Pathfinder Society Chronicle sheets for this AP? It seems rocking-awesome fun!
The Reign of Winter Adventure Path is, as of now, not sanctioned for Pathfinder Society play. We're still looking closely at the numbers of reported sessions of Rise of the Runelords and Shattered Star to see if sanctioning APs is something we'll be doing for more paths down the road. So right now the word for a Chronicle sheet for this is that it's not on the schedule, though that doesn't mean we won't create one and sanction the adventure down the line.

Thanking the sage, and with hope in his heart, the hero vows to tread the frozen paths of adventure, anticipating his reward will be crafted by the time he arrives at his destination.

I too wait for the golden email. Or, blue email, in this case...

I just wanted to pipe in that I really am pleased with this development! I've got a regular PbF group at this point, who loath breaking up, and so weaving a campaign out of just scenarios can sometimes be a problem.

However, now I'm starting Thornkeep, and then we'll be able to run the APs? This rocks. It gives me a LOT more content to work with in a cohesive manner, and still allows a CRB campaign for items, etc.

In short: Yay!

Yes, though they'll likely take less time than a traditional module, which usually contain around 20 encounters. It was simply easier to treat them as modules since we already had rules for them instead of creating new rules for these five dungeons.

YAY! Thanks Mark!

Not at all. I really hope we get the info soon. Just saying it might not be legal for play until the end of November. I personally would not be scheduling events to run this in November until I hear more is all I meant.

Can't argue with that. I guess I'm hoping it doesn't take the "normal" route other publications do, since it is a kickstarter reward item.

Are we there yet?

Do note than in another thread, Mike said:

So unless Additional Resources is changed early, it would go live at the November Additional Resources update (end of Nov).

Good info, but a bit irrelevent to my original question, unless you are implying there's a schedule change to not post the chronicle sheets/tier rules until the arbitrarily timed webpage update for Additional Resources.
