Unleashing the Bloodthirsty

Cannibal Corpse

I survived a night of black death metal! The pit was pretty good all night...got stronger as the night went on. Devourment came out and got it started. Dude had sub-bass level vocals. But they could stomp ass! Then came Vital Remains. Didnt get much from them, but the crowd was into it. Dying Fetus was AWESOME! They are a 3piece that friggin nonstop rocks! \m/ Watching both bass and guitar do hammer-ons at blistering speed was pretty cool. Then came Cannibal Corpse. Alex Webster played the bass like no other...George is a funny mofo. Love his nervous tics as he's between songs. His head never stood still, windmilling all over the place. I only understood 3 words in all the songs, "Death Walking Terror", the whole night...lol. No salute to Veterans Day, but the coolest thing was the drummer from Dying Fetus...um Trey Williams came out after their set and was doing some rockstar type highfives with the audience, but stopped when a dude said he was a veteran just back from 'over there'. Trey dropped his shtick and sincerely thanked the guy and shook his hand.

Unleashed

Getting ready to go to a Cannibal Corpse show tonight! Playing lots of death/thrash today to get blood going. I wonder how the band will salute the vets in the audience?

really, Jason, no love for the Watch speech? That is one of my all-time favorite 3 minutes on film! Other than the 'Eggplant' dialogue in True Romance...I agree QT is a total egomaniac and a kingsized dork, and a thief/homage master, but c'mon...

Hey Shiny. Quick idea. November 1st is the 25th anniversary of the friggin PMRC ruling/parental advisory sitcker. Maybe you could play the 'filthy fifteen' in honor of that momentous b!$%@~~*?

That is so awesome man! Play everything...EVERYTHING! You ever see 'Pump Up the Volume' with Christian Slater? I so wanted to do that...now Im too lazy. heh. Thats awesome that you are playing stuff that YOU want!

So how about some odd things?
You Must Be Blind Black Label Society

o and please play a Lizzy song every time...Phil and company were amazing!
howabout Sitamoia by them?

or Umbrella/Jump by Children of Bodom...serious language though. Or actually any of their Downfall intros. Play guess the covers?

or on that idea how about the ultimate Down With the Ship by Scatterbrain

thats all I can think of for now. Speaking of language...are you limited to clean versions? or because its that late, can you play ones that have the d-word and s-word but not f-word? I remember when the local station would play 'Man in the Box' with gettin his nose shoved in ...not spit. or even Bush singin about finding his a$$$$$$ brother in whatever song that was (blanking out here). And late at night theyd play 'Jeremy' and Eddie would call him a harmless little...

The weirdest one for that is Everlast 'What its Like', Ive heard that one on the radio with all different parts cut out of it...even 'chrome 45' got bleeped one time?

The Palpatine/Luke story you mention was the "Dark Empire" comics series from Dark Horse that came out after the Thrawn novels. It took place about 6-7 years after Jedi and related to Palpatine returning in a clone body and Luke thinking the only way he could stop him was to train under him to gain his trust.

Alan Dean Fosters 'Spellsinger' series was pretty cool.

I LOVED Terry Brooks 'Magic Kingdom For Sale/Sold'!

Lloyd Alexander 'Chronicles of Prydain' is probably one of my alltime favorite series.

Robin Hobb 'Assassin' trilogy.

Suzanne Collins 'Hunger Games' trilogy is an 'Enders Game' type series.

Charles DeLint 'Newford' books...though you'll have to hunt around or wiki/google to get them in order.

Ramsey Campbell did one called 'Darkest Part of the Woods'.

**EDIT** Robert Aspirin 'Thieves World' stuff and 'Myth Adventures'. Two very different series, both awesome!
