That's cool, I have a cat named Shimmy too. Is yours short for Shimmy Coco Puff? Going to have a hard time finding ANY adventure/module with only a "couple fights." While Pathfinder has several mechanics built in for non-combat encounters and roleplay; the meat and potatoes of it (and most other RPG's) is combat. 70% of a character sheet is about combat statistics. If you want a more customized adventure, I'd advise either creating one yourself, or modify an existing module by removing the majority of the hack and slash. Of course, then you will have to replace the missing combat elements with something else! Just my two cents for what it is worth. Buffy, then Angel, then Firefly, then Dollhouse. Xander was always my favorite character because he was me in High School, followed by Willow cause Allyson Hannigan is so freaking hot. I agree that Paul was the most annoying character on Dollhouse and Topher was my favorite. Also, I love the way that show ended. Gary Teter wrote: Removed a post. I thought it was funny and not offensive at all. Otherwise, I wouldn't have posted it. My bad. It's me again. Just started a once-a-month Pathfinder ROTR campaign and already had two players flake out. The two remaining players have never played any kind of tabletop RPG before; so the learning curve is extreme. But it's also a lot of fun, seeing them learn the rules to the game from the ground up! One is running a cleric; the other a wizard (but he would much rather run a ranger or rogue, so casters are welcome!) We play one Friday evening a month, from 6ish to Midnight. I live in the corner of Rogers bracketed by Lowell and Cave Springs. Looking for anyone close by to join in the fun. We just had one game so far, and we are still in the opening battle (with the final wave to go).... dmchucky69 wrote:

Actually, you can also cheat solitaire on the computer. If you hold the Shift-Ctrl-Alt down while dealing a card; it deals one instead of three. So while not guaranteeing a win, it significantly increases your odds of winning. For the record, I fudge rolls occasionally. I don't consider it cheating. And I let my players know up front that I do it; I don't tell them during games when I actually am. We play to have fun, not to let the dice ruin an evening's enjoyment. If you don't like fudging, that's cool. Just don't accuse me of being an evil person. While we are adults; we are playing a game. It's not brain surgery. Have a nice day. :) Pertwee has definitely moved up my list. He grows on you. Also, even though CB is still my least favorite Doctor; I think he gets too much blame for his Doctor. Blame the writers as much or more than the actor.... Got all the Davison and Colin Baker episodes on DVD now, and am almost there on Pertwee, TB and McCoy. Got all the CE, DT and the movie also. Love Dr Who on DVD and the extras are pretty cool too! Crimson Jester wrote: Speaking of old Who actors. Peter Davidson joined the cast of Law and Order UK. I am really starting to get into Pertwee's Doctor. Been watching a lot of his stuff lately: The Peladon Eps, Terror of the Autons, The Sea Devils, etc. Gotta say the music is pretty horrible, but I like Pertwee's homages to James Bond and his flair for the dramatic. Vic Wertz wrote:

I haven't seen that one yet, it isn't available on DVD yet in the States. Just watched Paradise Towers for the first time last night. His first episode with the Rani on the other hand, when she started acting like Mel... Scary... Hey gang, According to My Account; this shipped on July 29th, but I've seen neither hide nor hair of it on my porch. I did receive the previous order 1743123, which shipped July 25th, a little over a week ago. I know you will probably want to give it a few more days, but I wanted to give you a heads up, in case it got returned to you or something. I'll let you know if I haven't received it by Friday. Thanks, Chuck Arney Just to let Gail know; I'm a bit older than 6 years old. I'm 45. And if I'm throwing a temper tantrum than obviously you are as well. To quote Pat Garrett in Young Guns II; so ain't we both content... So have a happy Independence Day and we'll see you around the game table. At least until we hit Epic levels... :P Gailbraithe wrote:
I can try to help you find those earbuds at a reasonable discount if you want. Just wanted you to know that we could stop "screaming" if you would stop trying to be such a roadblock. Yes, you are entitled to your opinion, but as long as you choose to be so openly against what so many obviously want; you will get major pushback. Ever go to a casino? Are you familiar with craps? You are like the guy who bets on the "Don't Pass" and "Don't Come" fields. You might make a lot of money betting against the rollers, but don't be surprised if you don't piss a lot of people off in the meantime. Paizo puts out enough books for everyone to get what they want. What is selfish is to deny any one group their niche product. You say you are doing it for the good of the company. A company that only plays it safe will never prosper; it will merely survive. Paizo took a huge gamble sticking to the 3.5 ruleset; would you have begrudged them for that decision as well? So keep pushing for the safe path; I just want you to know that I'll be here pushing right back. Earlier you said (I think it was you); may the best man win? This isn't a competition. If Paizo throws the dice and comes up seven; we ALL win. If they crap out; then it's back to the drawing board and no harm, no foul. The entire company's future does NOT hinge on the post-20th level niche. But it could open up a new revenue stream if it is done just right. Gailbraithe wrote:
But here's the really cool part. Paizo designs stuff so well, that even if it isn't something I want or care about; it's still worth buying, just to read in the restroom if nothing else. AP's read like a good novel and I imagine most folks here like reading rulebooks in general or they wouldn't be gamers. Maybe the product would be so intriguing that it might even make a mythic believer out of you. Wow, what a concept. Maybe the reason most folks don't play high-level D&D/Pathfinder is because the rules have sucked sneakers to this point. Don't be a Debbie Downer. And let's face it. It isn't a matter of if; it's a matter of when. JJ is obviously a fan of high level play for himself if not his company. The sooner they get the book out, the sooner this vocal "minority" shuts its collective mouth. By the way, I'm not convinced we are a minority; I just don't feel like arguing that point with you. And finally, you actually are being selfish in your desire for them to not make this product. Just as I am being selfish in my need for them TO make it. We will not go quietly into the night. We will continue screaming for post-20th level rules, until we get them. So you'd better get some teflon earbuds my friend.... What makes high level play unplayable? IMO? Bad players. You have to have a social contract between your players and the GM. In may be an unspoken contract, but it needs to be there. After awhile, "good" players realize that insta-win fights aren't fun, for either the players or the GM. So they intentionally try to avoid getting in the rut of using the same overpowered combos in every fight. Just because you have a killer combo in your arsenal as a PC, doesn't mean you should use it every fight ad nauseum. My players know that it isn't just my responsibility to make the game fun. It is up to them as well. Used sparingly, killer combos can be awesome. But used in every fight, they know that I will have to bring the pain hammer down and use GM metaknowledge to "cheat" the system against them (which usually means TPK and endgame to the campaign). Good players WANT the game to last. They want to keep getting more powerful, but they also want to be challenged. They KNOW that the game is rigged from the outset, and in their favor. But they want to work WITH their GM to make it a fun and challenging experience for EVERYONE. Having said all that; I find the concept of E6 to sound downright annoying. But if it works for you; go for it. Just let me know that is the plan from the get-go, so I can find another campaign..... I've said this many times. I am 100% wanting post-20th level rules. Totally. I will buy any and all "mythic" products. I have NO interest in Asian-themed adventures. However, I WILL continue my AP subscription, including Jade Regent. I am NOT interested in mixing guns with my fantasy gaming; but I will still definitely buy Ultimate Combat. I support Paizo, and have faith in their ability to entertain me with these products, even if I am not usually a fan of said content. See how this works? Everyone gets what they want; and we all go home happy. daemonslye wrote:

Exactly. I love my screen. If I roll a 20, I lift the screen up to show the roll to the players. Otherwise, they need to trust me or leave the table. Put me in the camp of not ending a campaign. Or at least not ending at level 20. To me, high level characters are so much more fun to run than low level ones. More power, more options, cool things to choose from. I love getting to the crazy high levels. Nothing wrong with a strong ending for the storyline; that's when you take a 6 month hiatus as DM, while you start planning a mythic extraplanar campaign for the players to take their 24th level characters into. In my opinion, you should never plan a total ending. Why start over when characters are just getting interesting???? Hey Cosmo; Is it pretty weird that my order 1671951 shipped May 13th and arrived three days later and order 1689971 shipped on May 10th and hasn't arrived yet? Both seem to be shipping Standard Postal Service. Is it a weight issue that might make the Ultimate Magic order take that much longer???? I keep expecting to find the box on my doorstep and it isn't there... To a fellow cat-lover and horror movie fanatic (aka JJ): Have you seen any of these 3 movies, and if so, how do they rate? The Collector Laid to Rest Hatchet I always thought these 3 movies would make a great movie night together. Hatchet already has a sequel (which I haven't seen yet), and the other two have sequels in the works as well. I almost bought the "I Spit on Your Grave" remake the other day as well; do you think this goes too far? It's always good to know a fellow horror geek is designing the games I love to play. NOTE: Too bad you aren't into Dr Who or Buffy though. These shows rock like apple sauce.... TheRedArmy wrote:
My tabletop group was RUINED by a player who received texts from his wife every 10 minutes or so. Then the Einstein had to share the jokes that she was sending him with the rest of the group. I tried to give him not so subtle hints that he was distracting the group, but he refused to take the hint. Finally, I told him that I would have to have him ask his wife to stop texting him unless it was an emergency. He stopped answering my group emails or responding to calls when I would call him. He had also had a real problem with attendance (he only made about 30% of the games and when he was there, the phone was constantly ringing). Finally, I sent him an email a couple of months later that I was booting him from the group and he responded with a sarcastic email that I was too serious about the game and that he had quit the game weeks earlier (even though he didn't have the balls to TELL me that he had quit the group; another gripe). Needless to say, we were down to two players at that point, so the group is on permanent hiatus until I can find some other players (which isn't easy in Arkansas). Thank heavens I have two VTT groups and one other VTT game that I play in. So yeah, I have a REAL problem with texting at the table. Like others have said above: Liz was always my favorite companion. I didn't just have a crush on her; I was head over heels in love with her. I have always thought that she was perhaps the most beautiful woman I have ever seen (don't let my wife read this!). I will miss her beauty, her voice, her grace and her character. This is the hardest celebrity death I have had to face so far. I know Tom Baker is going to be another hard one as well. (And Nicholas Courtney was surprisingly rough, too). As a writer, a gamer, a major book reader and a movie fanatic; these fictional characters and their roles can become almost more important to you than real people (notice I said almost). I felt like Liz was a real part of my childhood. I will always miss you Sarah Jane; and work will be rough today trying to keep my head up with such a heavy heart... Monkeygod wrote:
While I see your point, I disagree. Anytime a merchant publicly proclaims that "if he loses a customer, so be it;" that merchant has lost the game. Your customer's are your lifeblood; you can't afford to be seen as petty and immature. What you see as passion, I see as a childish temper-tantrum. You want to buy his product in spite of his attitude? Good for you. I don't buy anything from anyone who behaves the way this guy did in this thread. I don't care if the guy creates the greatest RPG product in the world. I'm sure Fred Phelps has a few redeeming qualities; I still wouldn't give him the time of day. Now, if this guy has the wherewithal and maturity to come back to this thread and apologize? I might change my mind and think about buying from him someday. But I'll be very surprised if that happens. JollyRoger wrote:
Make that Three. This was a great feel-good thread until your post. Nothing wrong with not feeling the buzz that the other 3rd party companies are feeling; but you are totally missing the point. Paizo doesn't carry itself like a typical corporation PRECISELY because they treat their customers (and 3rd party companies) with respect. Your post came across as angry, and extremely unprofessional. Why would I want to purchase a product from such a company? Attitude is everything in this day and age where folks have become much more careful about where they spend their hard-earned money. You should think about apologizing rather than defending an unprofessional remark. It might save any more hemorrhaging of potential customers. Garydee likes Joss Whedon? My world has just started spinning.... Something we both like and agree on. It is an age of miracles indeed. It's simple really. And when you argue to justify why it does; you lessen yourself in the eyes of your fellow man. We call ourselves enlightened. We are supposed to be the good guys in America. So let's not act like it is EVER okay to use barbarism as a tool of intelligence. Torture is not an answer. It is a waste of time, and a stain on morality to no end.
