I have been looking for a large flat storage case/carrier to keep all my maps in but haven't been able to find anything of the proper size.

Does anyone here have any idea where I can find one?

Cheliax (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Companion Subscriber)

Well my 2 and 1/2 year old son has been waking up recently and not being satisfied until the wife or myself lay down with him long enough to go to sleep.

The funny thing is when my wife told our neighbor his wife stated that it's because I have D&D minis and books in the house. She assured my wife that if she would just gather all that stuff together and burn it that my son would then sleep soundly all night.

She knows this because when her son was 16-18 back in the late 70's he started having nightmares and thinking that his D&D things were talking to him. So she burnt them and he never had those problems again.

So my question is should I burn all my gaming gear or just laugh in her face?

*Joking, there is no way I am getting rid of my stuff. My son would kill me since he plays with the Gargantuan Dragons all the time. Just had to post because it was funny*

Well I am laying here on an uncomfortable hospital couch anxious as hell. My wife is asleep but I just can't calm down. In less than 10 hours I'll be a dad again. C-section in the morning. It shouldn't be a big deal I already have a beautiful daughter and fantastic boy. I don't know if it is because they are early, because they are twins, or because of the c-section but I have never been this nervous before with my other children. Just had to vent that since everyone I know here is sleeping. I'm off to read some more posts.

Well just made my second hefty purchase this year with at least two more coming. I have to say you guys put out too much good stuff. I thought I might be satisfied with just the AP but too much good stuff comes out of the other lines. I had to catch up with the companion line and should be able to keep my subscription going now. Plus the Core book and everything else coming I believe I heard my wallet scream as I looked over everything here.

Spoiler:
Though that may just be the fine Imp leather getting broke in.

I haven't even played in over 6 months and I am still addicted. I traded in a bunch of stuff at Troll and Toad since they are fairly close by just to get Pathfinder books.

*sigh* I love this place. As Lisa said in another thread this is my third place. Though I tend to lurk more than comment.

Have a great night everyone. I have to go hit my wallet with a hammer and make it shut up so I can sleep.

Cheliax (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Companion Subscriber)

Well I just found out that my wife is going to be having twins! The thought makes me really happy and yet I can't help but wonder how I am going to raise four children.

On the plus side once they are all old enough I shouldn't have trouble finding a gaming group. :)

Still in shock but I had to voice it everywhere. I wish my dad had lived for just 3 more months so I could have told him. I can imagine what he would have said but its just not the same. I wish he could have known them.

Well enough of that. I am happy and worried all together.

Have a great day everyone. I know mine was.

Cheliax (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Companion Subscriber)

Well I am starting off with a new gaming group and I have been trying to figure which AP to send them through. I have never played with them before but their DM is burnt out and wants to take a break. I'm not sure how much role-playing they do vs. roll playing but I know that they tend to power game much more than I do. I have set down some ground rules already. If I run we start out PHB only, if they can work something else into the storyline I will consider it. They all have some characters they have played until they are beyond godlike. So I also told them that I don't pull punches if they die so be it. The group would be 5 players and I am also thinking of starting them out at "0" level just to set up the story how I want.
What I really want is to see what some opinions are on which AP to start them on. I have everything campaign wise from Paizo that is out right now plus a Red Hand of Doom I modified and ran through once before. Personally I am leaning more towards Crimson Throne just because I like the story.
Anyway to the point what do you all think?

While I have been hanging around here for a while now I don't post very often. I have seen numerous signs of Paizo being a great online community. People are generally friendly and willing to help out with almost anything.

I am posting this as a community wide thank you. Since I don't know if the party would like his name broadcast I won't use it. However, I will still tell everyone what was done and how much I appreciate it.

I had been trying to save up to get a fairly expensive item from the Paizo store. This item went into back order and I asked around about it. I was later contacted by my mysterious benefactor telling me he had purchased the product. And wanting to know what my mailing address was.

My gratitude for his actions cannot be stated. With the wedding, new house, and baby boy I doubt that I would ever have managed to purchase it but I was trying to save up.

So to the entire Paizo community and one person in particular. Thank you for being the best online community I know of.

Ok, so I finally get CotCT #12 and SD read through them once already and going through a second time right now.

So, as I am reading I see that Earthfall was caused by an Aboleth weapon that pulled a star down and basically nuked the Azlanti.

Then I remember that Zon-Kuthon agree to be bound into the Plane of Shadow for as long as the sun hung in the sky.

So the Aboleth apocolypse freed Zon-Kuthon. Could it be that the entity that possessed Dou-Bral and became Zon-Kuthon could be an immense aboleth or something.

It's the little details like this that make my brain kick into overdrive. I may never know if I am even close on this but it feels right and I believe it will be how my Golarian is ran.

Does anyone else see this like I do?

I have been toying with the idea of giving the players a bit of foreshadowing for just how evil the Arkonas are.

So far what I have come up with is this. Since Glorio has been "kind" to the populace in Old Korvosa, I figure he may have extended this "kindness" to some of the local women. So number of young Rakshasa(sp?) are running around Old Korvosa. I want to send the party to a orphanage where one of the little fiends was sent after the death of his parents.

So does anyone else have any ideas on how to make this work? I don't want to have the party killing children (and I know Raks age fast) and so need a way to get them interested without resorting to that.

Well, bring on the ideas!

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to get peoples opinion on what is a really good Pathfinder product to order. I already have a sub to the AP's but we are expecting my son to be born within the next two or three weeks. We have enough money to handle everything but it puts a dent in what I can buy.

So say I have $40 to spend what does everyone think would be the best things to buy. Korvosa, some minis, the gazetter... whatever. I have read a lot of different posts on the products and I can't narrow it down. So give me a hand you guys. Thanks in advance.

I can't seem to find the rules for general telepathy. For example the erinyes telepathy ability how does it work. Is she able to sense other minds nearby if the person is invisible? Thanks in advance.

This looks fantastic. Loved the Kobold King and it has a sequel. Just reading that chat with Thuldrin Kreed got me thinking. This is going to be great. Now I just wish I could make it to Free RPG day to snag one. Oh well guess I will have to buy it like I did last year. Great stuff as always. Man I love this place.

First I am sorry if any of this has already been brought up but I have stayed away from the boards until I could read everything through twice and comment on things that struck me. Most things that I had no problem with I let alone. Thanks for reading.

Pathfinder RPG Alpha 1

Races: Pgs 4-7

Overall: I don’t agree with the +2 ability bonus that every race gets the PHB abilities are good enough.

Elf: Don’t really like unnatural beauty maybe if it was a bonus to social skills instead of automatically indifferent.
Gnome: Gnome magic seems a bit much maybe just one or two of the spell-like abilities.
Half-Elf: Elf blood…. Should also apply to whatever the other half is. (Qualify as both elf and human.
Half-Orc: Orc blood same as above.

Classes: Pgs 8-19
Advancement: I realize that some people want a fast game with lots of leveling up or taking their time. However I don’t see the need for a bunch of separate tracks. If I want them to level slower then I will do it same for fast progression.

Starting Hp: I like the racial option best as it makes race a more important choice.

Cleric: Not sure on domain powers. Will comment fully when I reach them. Otherwise seems ok.

Fighter:
Weapon training: weapon groups’ need reorganized.
Armor Training: Would be more useful if it was set to groups like weapons are. Light, Medium, Heavy, and Shields.
Armor Mastery: Same as above.
Weapon Mastery: Seems fine but I think I will try and see if making it a group of weapons is overpowered. Also needs to be able to be disarmed by a similarly trained fighter.

Rogue:
Sneak Attack: The wording states that the Rogue cannot sneak attack anything that has vital organs she cannot reach. This should be changed since it is supposed to be finding a weak spot. Even the gargantuan red dragon the party is facing has a weak spot even if the Rogue can’t reach the vital organs.
Bleeding Attack: With so much to keep track of already adding a number of points into damage every round doesn’t make it any faster. Maybe just add the damage once instead.
Minor and Major magic: Really cool abilities but I would limit them to certain spells that apply to roguish endeavors.
Defensive Roll: Why only at) hps. It may make it too powerful but I think a rogue should be allowed to use it anytime. Nothing like sneaking up on the enemy commander stabbing him and then when he thinks he has split you in half he finds your fine.

Wizard:
School Powers: More when I reach them.

Skills: Pgs 20-31

I really like the extra skill at every even level. However I prefer skill points to the flat skill bonus. It shows that I am better at some things than others. So maybe just give an extra skill point per level at every even level.

Skills that I have input on will be next.

Flying: I like that being skilled in flight has an effect. However I don’t see why this can’t be added into acrobatics.

Perception: I like the skill but it seems to be doing a whole lot. Half the stuff listed I wouldn’t even ask for a check on. (Notice a battle in particular.)

Feats: Pgs 32-39

I don’t personally like the ordered feats such as Overhand chop, backswing, and devastating blow. Too much trying to track what was done in the last round. Just a nitpick.

Combat Pgs 40-45

I love the CMB it just seems elegant. Grapple seems better as well but I will have to try it out in game.

Turning: I like that turning can heal as well but I think it should be a choice the cleric can make. If the party is surrounded buy undead and their necromancer leader and the fighter almost has him down I sure wouldn’t want to heal him. Same goes for the other direction if I rebuke I don’t want to hurt my party.

Spells and Magic: 46-59

Arcane Schools: I like the idea but I think it is way overpowered. At later levels spellcasters already dominate play. Giving them all these spell-like abilities just makes it worse.

A possible solution could be that every time a specialist would gain a spell-like ability he instead gains the ability to cast a spell from his school of study as a sorcerer would. The amount of time a study he spends on his chosen school allows him to tap into the magic and spontaneously cast a spell. The spell would be of the highest-level spells he has at that level. The universalist causes some problems with this however since being able to cast any spell would make them much better than a specialist. I would make a universalist wizard able to recall a spell of the same level as the ability once day or maybe to use spontaneously one spell of that level that is in his spellbook but wasn’t memorized that day.

Domains: I would handle these about the same way as above but make the spell from the proper domain.

The rest seems ok. Overall I have to say I am very impressed with the work in the alpha and I am looking forward to the next piece released. I hope that something I wrote is somewhat helpful in polishing this up for next year.

I look forward to reading everyone’s comments.

My #5 just came in today and the cardboard protecting it was a bit beat up. It amounts to a bend about halfway down the spine. I was wondering if I could send it back and hopefully get one that isn't bent. I'm really not trying to be an ass about it but I admit I am picky about my books. Any information would be great thank you.

Hey just looking for some people to play in or near Richmond, KY. My old group has broken up, couple of guys moved and such. If I can't find anyone for a new group I would like to join a PbP I miss D&D. Well let me know!

Cheliax (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Companion Subscriber)

I am maybe a quarter of the way through the Vale adventure and the PC's are already counting on getting the Fort. While that is something that has to be determined, I wanted some extra ideas.

So assuming they get the Fort or at least some land in the Vale what kind of adventures or other action does everyone think build from that?

(I do have some thoughts but I don't have a lot of time to devote to coming up with things. Pregnant wife gets a little "more" moody when I spend too much time with D&D)

Anyway thanks for any help.

I have to say that reading the bio really makes me want to play a paladin. That is an accomplishment in itself, though I doubt I could ever actually play it out well. I can't wait to see the next one.

While overall somewhat interesting the one thing that stood out the most in this article was something that shouldn't have. I quote, "After flipping through the pages of this article." As if I am going to spend half the $30 ink cartrige to print this using my printer.

On a good note I also caught the reference to "The Apocalypse Stone".

Cheliax (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Companion Subscriber)

In the NPC priests of Desna under Krym's entry it says he has a norn-crafted relic. What is a norn??? I know you guys probably don't want to give the whole thing away so just a general description would be great.

Cheliax (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Companion Subscriber)

I just wanted to know what type of terrain and locations are outside the Vale. The Vale itself is large enough for multiple adventures, (I think it's something like 1500 sq. miles) from counting it up in my head. Just curious and thanks ahead of time.

Ok, so let me get this straight. If I am standing in the center of a Great Wyrm Red Dragons Breath weapon with no way of hiding behind something or moving the huge blast of flame will actually miss me, unless he rolls high????????????????????????

WOW!!! Wish I had known that when we used to fire AT-4 in the Marines. Cause hell if I can just stand there and the fire will completely miss me then screw it, why run.

That my friends is stupid and completely unrealistic even in a fantasy world.

(Unless of course your a ninja... then maybe)

Like I said still good product guys keep it up. I am looking foreward to seeing the whole AP. After that maybe I'll think about canceling. ;)

Cheliax (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Companion Subscriber)

I just looked over my subscriptions and see that Pathfinder 1 shipped yesterday. However I had 7 issues of Dungeon remaining and originally I believe (emphasis on believe) that I had either 3 or 4 issues of pathfinder from the transition. Yet when I looked at subscriptions it says that I only have one issue left? I may not have had four from the transition but I know it was at least that my ongoing subscription would start with volume 4. So why is it suddenly starting with volume 3. I was thinking that maybe it was because the Players Guide shipped out too but I was under the impression that it didn't count. So could someone with Paizo please let me know what is going on. Thank you very much for your time.

Cheliax (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Companion Subscriber)

Well I just finished reading issue 148 and overall I was pleased. My favorite adventure was The Automatic Hound lots of good stuff in there. Spinecastle was good too but mainly because of the background stuff. Mainly however I loved Wells of Darkness and was surprised in a good way by the reference to Fall-From-Grace. I would never have thought to see that name again but in was a special treat to see it. Torment was a great game and I miss the days of Black Isle giving us some great roleplaying games. Thanks Paizo for a little nostalgia of the good times.
