Well I can't say that I am christian. However I can say that I have read the bible twice (Old testament and New) from cover to cover. In doing so I fail to see how D&D teaches you about witchcraft. Are their "spells" sure but it doesn't say do this and enslave someone. In order to convert someone back into D&D that believes that it can teach you real witchcraft would be tricky. I would simply ask them why they feel that way. If he played and suddenly found that he was learning witchcraft while playing he should have some good examples. If he was lead to that choice like a mindless zombie by someone else then he should be able to understand valid points. Sometimes all it takes is a real conversation with nonfanatics. Then again sometimes it takes a steel pipe or a huge mallet! A lot of people judge things based on someone else's description instead of their own thoughts. We often judge everything and make some crazy choices. Yet since we are all human what right do we have to judge anyone else? I say leave the judging to someone infinitly more qualified than me or even the greatest minds. Ok I am starting... or ending a rant. Done! Gazoo!!! Crush Gazoo... stupid damned ratings plot device.... Really I HATED that guy. Then again I also feel that Barney should have beat the hell out of Fred a few times. Possibly even to death. Huh! Maybe it's just that I have "issues". *mumbles something about classic cartoons while turning the tv to white noise* I got up to 42 and then dropped down to 37. I kept on trying though and I average right around 40. I got higher but always drop down again. Still I feel 40 is pretty good. Now if I could actually manage to use all the words I know. Even with some of the words I know really well I only manage to use them maybe once a year. *sigh* So many good words so little time... and so little intelligence in redneckville KY. Nto my knowledge, but a Marine corps buddy of mine had a great idea. Hire out some ex-military personel arm them with paintball guns and have some good fun! If I know how to make a weapon and can supervise others then I don't see a problem with it. If I put a gun to your head and tell you to make a damn sword with someone telling you how, then I am fairly sure your going to do it. Unless of course you want to buck the system I have set up, then I just use you as an example. I'm fairly sure that most slave labor through the ages didn't always know their jobs when they were made slaves. So you learn or you die. Most will try to live. We don't fully know yet how is works. I don't believe it will be an ongoing thing however just something used in RotRL. We have been told in the AP so far that one part is titled Sin of the Saviors. In that adventure the number of various sins that the PC's have commited will have an impact in the game. That is all I know. In addition unless the female characters actually state that they are enjoying themselves in selling thier bodies I wouldn't give any lust points. It is completely possible to do the dead and get no real pleasure from it. However I could also see giving them maybe one point of lust just for making others lust after them and letting them get thier way with money. Even if they had ranks in Profession (callgirl) I would still give them ranks of greed. Simply because they aren't doing this to pay the bills. They are doing it for magic items. It's like doing just for a designer purse or something. That has some greed attached. I would say the same thing for a blacksmith is he was smithing for luxury items. So I'd give them some greed and maybe some lust. A great read Sebastian. The only thing I might have changed is that someone in town had to know where the new heroes where at for the Gobo in the closet. Being that they are now they celebrities the little boy or the mom could have been awestruck and ferreted any and all information out about the party. If it were me I would run it for them anyway if it hasn't been too long since the raid. In order for it to work I would say that the family had two dogs and the little one has vanished. The Gobbo managed to catch it and eat it. So thinking he could now escape he opens the childs door and finds the "Big Dog". So he hides again. Then the story can go almost as written. Goblin trys sneaking out again but the big dog is now in the boy's room. I'm sure you can go from there if you like the idea. I just think it's too good not to run. Well I am 28 and until last year at christmas my mother absolutely refused to buy me anything D&D or even fantasy related. Since it was all devil worshiping. I am not sure how I convinced her otherwise since my explanation of both has never changed. Though I did point out a specific chapter in one of my books that dealt with destroying some evil cult or something. Maybe that did it. On the other hand her preacher did once say that they were going to have a crusade just like they did in medieval times. To which I regrettably stated rather loudly, "Yeah, rape, murder, and pillage. Sounds like a great time." Needless to say she beat the hell out of me for that one and I was 16 or 17 at the time. Still all in all I haven't ran into too many instances of trouble over it. OHHHH! Almost forgot there was one other time I almost got in trouble. When I was in the Marines we had room inspections one day and most of my D&D stuff was sitting out on my desk. The Lieutenant inspecting called over my Gunnery Sgt. and asked him about my "satanic" ways. TO which he calmly replied, "I believe he still has freedom of religion." and walked off. :D good times!! I have to give a salute to the dwarf. Not often someone plays to the hilt. I remember an article about actions just like that in Dragon. In which a low level paladin told the party to run with some villagers or some such while he/she single handedly held up a small horde of enemies for a few minutes. I was a great read. Those kind of actions are what last years down the road in my mind. So this one is for the dwarf. (drains what is left of my Grolsch) I don't think these boards are too insular. I am a relatively new member and I have been able to get feedback on questions and the like. The only thing here that has been even a little off is that there is a sense of commardary between a lot of you. Not so much with new guys but that is to be expected since you don't know a damned thing about me. No hard feelings here. Well I am only about halfway through the actual adventure but have managed to read everything else. So far the adventure looks to be A+ and the new monsters are sweet. I am still trying to get into the Pathfinder Journal and it's slowly growing on me. I also really enjoyed the gazetteer it has some great hooks, not to mention the hints of things that I see happening in the 2nd and 3rd AP's. The only remotely bad thing I have seen so far is the Keeping the Keep chapter. I was hoping for soooo much more good stuff. The part explaining about castles was a buzz kill for me personally,(Kind of a hobby) however I can see how it could be useful for others. For some reason though I always find giving players things to do in order to run a keep the worst part of it. My players usually love keeps and land. For me though I just can't deal with it very well. It is one of my admitted many faults as a DM. Still while disappointed a bit by that part it still held some good ideas and spearked a few from myself. So all in all I have to say great job Paizo and Logue. Spoiler:
While I am trying not to enlarge his ego anymore. I think this one may be my favorite AP chapter yet. In addition D1 was pretty good too. This is just so much better though. I have to run along and finish reading the adventure now. PS: More stuff for Keeps!!! Well I just returned from taking the 4 year old red wrymling out for some trick or treating.... she managed to scare plenty of villiagers out of their valuable confections. She is currently adding up her hoard and moving it over into a corner of the lair. She also managed to get a little bit of flying in. (At my expense! She is getting heavy.) Her dragon sales pitch at every villagers door was, "Trick or Treat... ROAR!". All in all a great time... now I just can't wait till the next little wrymling gets here in June. More good dragon fun. Sharoth wrote: All I can say is we should blame WotC for the high gas prices. ~WEG~ We blame them for everything else. Agreed, WotC should never have started WWI. Bunch of PR guys handling talks between Poland and Germany sucked. (I have no idea if any part of the above is true.) But it could be a funky time loop kinda thing. To be honest I'll handle 4.0 the same way I did with 3.0 meaning ignore it for a while and see what happens. I didn't buy a single 3.0 book because by the time I wanted to update 3.5 was already out. That in itself was a big deal with me. Hell, I left the Marine Corps in 02 with my car, clothes, and almost 400lbs. of AD&D books and accessories. So far Paizo has proven beyond a doubt that they actually give a s~@! about the customer. That in my book is a defining concept. Too many companies these days simply say screw the consumer because they can buy our product or not because for every 1 person that sticks to their guns 100 more will just buy whatever. Anyway I will be sticking with Paizo until I am unsatisifed with the products you produce. Which at the current rate should be well into my retirment years and I'm not even 30. Unless I am mistaken the PC's may have to fight her but it's not a must. From what I remember reading the only time they have to fight her is if she comes up in the fortunes as having one of the items they need. So if it was me I would just remove that possiblity from the fortunes and let them just know her as a fortune teller.
