I was reading your campaign again, since I might have a group soon, and I just made a dragon for another DM. I wanted to compare my dragon to the draco-lich, and I also found him lacking as far as spells chosen.
..which led to this:
nevermind I was wrong about the thing I had written.
Now back to reading your journal.

What do I have to do to get an avatar around here?

Go to 'My Account', where it details all your private info, email address, downloads, subscriptions, etc,.
You may have to give your password again, and actually click 'Submit', not just the 'Enter' key...I found that out the hard way.
In the box marked 'Messageboard Settings', under the space where you'd see an avatar, you'll see a link 'Click Here to change your messageboard settings'.
That's the one to press, to get to the avatar pages.
Your name is stuck, after 10 posts, but your avatar image can be changed any time, with back-dated effect on all your old posts.
Below that is the facility to create an alias (or a dozen) if you don't think your regular identity is exciting enough, or if you want to post in-character in a game, or just want to separate your posts (for me, I have the Tipsniffer for when I'm discussing ideas for my current game. My players are told not to look).
You also have some in-joke effects, like what happens when you type the word Smurf in your post... Thanks

Are traps really prominent after the first chapter? If not I will just provide a rogue NPC for the first chapter so nobody gets stuck with a character they did not want to play, if nobody want to play one.

It seems a rogue is needed for the first chapter due to the traps, but since it is an undead campaign the rogue might feel useless for the rest of the adventure. In short my question is does the party need a rogue or a skill monkey for the rest of the adventure?
Rogue multiclassed into something that can be useful against the plethora of crit-immune critters they run into later.
Either that, or be prepared to have said rogue invest in a decanter of endless water and several wands of bless water (with sufficient UMD ranks) in order to even remotely prove useful other than as a damage sponge. That is pretty much what I thought. Thanks

I thought I saw a rogue feat that would allow them to either sneak attack or critical attack constructs. I think it was called saboteur or sabotage, but I am not sure. I know issue 340 has some rogue feats, but that is not the correct one. I am trying to avoid going through all my friends' issues just to look for one feat.
Allen in your recounting of the events of AoW did you use the characters' names from the campaign or do you use your own names for them?

Check them out at Deviant art.com. I will attempt to post a link. As I am rather inept at most-things-computer, if you can't access them directly from the link below, just go to deviant art dot com, and look for Killer GM; and be a pal and post an actual link that works for me on this thread. Thanks, all, and especially to the Resident Artist, who's work helped bring the campaign to life and to memory for all to see.

Here you go.

LOL, I can definitely see this upsetting a player.
Allen Stewart wrote: I stuck to the PHB only. I suppose such was in keeping with my 'killer gm' motif, but I've played for 25+ years, and at 1st level, you get greased frequently... So I stuck with tradition.
I'll let Turin answer for the Savage Tide, but I don't recall him tweaking much at 1st level. His "attack of generousity" kicked in about 6th level if memory serves...
Do you have players that accept death graciously(well as much as possible anyway), or do you make it entertaining enough that they don't mind to much. I am about to start a new group, and I don't care to much for dice fudging, but some players are whiney(sp?) when they die.
Most of my old group moved away, and other issues are abound with the current group. I would like to warn the soon to be new players up front, but I dont want to scare them off. My old group had no problem accepting death. I doubt I will be so lucky this time.
When both of you you ran AoW and STAP did you use the PHB rules for 1st level characters, or did you give them a few extra HP due to the difficulty of the campaign?
How do I put attach a picture/avatar to my profile? I went to my profile, and still did not see a way to do it.
Allen,I have one munchkin player and you have inspired me. The journal was pure brilliance.
To Turin, do you still have the build for cleric 4.0. I am still trying to duplicate the 270d6(?) you and the bat army did.
I will have to check the boards to see how the STAP ran.
Shackled City seemed give less wealth than what I was used to. I was a player for that one. Does AoW give a decent amount of wealth?
How difficult are the current adventure paths in comparison to SC and AoW? I plan to start running adventures as soon as I get free time, but I dont know if I will have time to write my own. I need something hard, because my group destroys normal encounters.
I have two questions. I may have overlooked them, but when you get past the Wind Dukesteh players, if they have the language are supposed to reply to that sculpture's reply of "speak my name." At what point was this name given, and what language is the sculpture speaking in?
If the boards were php coded they would be easier to use. Is this something that may happen in the future? I know Paizo has a few things going on, and it wont happen overnight, but boards like this one are nice to use.
What page is the hit point increase on? I cant find it

KaeYoss wrote: No. 4e does something vaguely like this (touch ACs are gone, you attack reflex instead; and everyone gets a flat bonus to his AC depending on level, but then again, you get a flat bonus to everything depending on level, in that game), but Pathfinder won't.
The reason for this is easy: The old system works well enough, and a change like this will destroy backwards compatibility.
But there are optional rules for a class bonus to AC out there, just take a look at those, or at how d20 Modern does things.
Some things don't make sense, but they are that way for game balance. An example of this is that improved critical, which is based off of a character's skill with a weapon, and Keen, which is a magical ability dont stack. If you go to page 110 or 111 in Unearthed Arcana it gives an optional system for AC to increase for characters that don't wish to wear armor. It might also be in one of the online SRD's, but I dont know if the chart is online for sure or not.
After edit: This was supposed to reply to the original post.
My players are optimizers, and if I take some generic npc I might as well just give away XP. D&D has this idea that every fight other than boss fights should be easy. I don't beleive in giving away XP. I do throw in the occasional easy fight, but most of the time if they have an easy fight it is because I made a tactical error, or they outsmarted me. I seriously doubt making an NPC that can challenge PC will be doable 4 years from now., however if I switch to 4e I will take advantage of it while it last.
Where is it in Forgotten Realms?
