How much detail is required in the Encounter Summary section? Reading through some of the previously published scenarios, the Summary section already includes some details about creatures and obstacles the PCs encounter. So, what are you looking for in the Encounter Summary? Name, CRs, number encountered and special features, traps and obstacles?

Also, 750-words being a hard rule, do section headers count in the limit? I need every word I can use!

My friends and I are looking into playing online, so that we can play a little more often. We have never done this before. I'm looking for suggestions on software/hardware and "how to" for online play.

Thanks

I picked up a software called D20Pro at GenCon 2009 this year which my friends and I just got to use this weekend to play PF We are all old high school buddies that are currently all over the U.S. We used the group call feature in Skype for voice and it worked great.

We have also used RPTools' MapTool software to play 4E and the DM has a Ventrilo license to run voice. MapTool has a steeper learning curve than D20Pro.

Depends on the type of experience you want to have in your games. We find Maptools feels less like actual tabletop gaming because of all the automatic support that it provides. D20 has some automatic functions, but the look and feel of the software and the ease of use make it feel more like you are sitting around the table.

Both MapTools and D20Pro are free downloads and are available for free at:
www.rptools.net - MapTools
D20pro.com - D20 Pro

Here is the catch. While D20 can be downloaded for free someone needs to own a GM license. It's not expensive, but the GM has to have the license in their system.

If you and your group are interested in trying out the D20pro software in an actual game, let me know and I would be happy to GM a PF Society module. I have the GM license and six guest licenses, so you can see how the software works before you decide to invest in it.
