Cato Novus has inspired me:

A challenge to all you designers and would-be designers out there - what sort of magic items can you come up with that would be appropriate and balanced for a 1st-2nd level character? The item must be A) useful, B) relatively cheap, and C) relatively low-powered. Potions, scrolls, and Quaal's feather tokens don't count.

Here's an example (inspired by 'Luthien's Gamble' by R. A. Salvatore):
The item appears to be a 2" diameter steel ball (weighing about 2 pounds) with a 6" piece of rope attached. When thrown the ball grows spikes and the rope extends up to 100'. The ball sticks wherever it lands, in effect becoming a grappling hook with a 100' rope attached. The ball will release its hold if the rope is given three sharp tugs. The rope behaves in all ways like a normal rope.

This item is useful in that it is effectively a rope that weighs less than normal and can be attached without being tied (and what adventurer doesn't need rope?). The item couldn't cost much compared to other magic items, and there's practically no way having such an item could break a campaign.

What ideas can you come up with?

This is listed as "currently unavailable". Does that mean that someday it will be available again?

I hate to be a pain, but I have a bit of a problem. I've been looking for the answer to my dilemma on the messageboards, but apparently I missed it somehow. Please help.

Here's my dilemma:

Some time ago I chose the transition option of having my remaining issues of Dragon and Dungeon converted to issues of Pathfinder. I also signed on as a charter subscriber to Pathfinder. Having received Pathfinder #1, I'm afraid I have to tell you that I'm not satisfied. It's a fine product, I suppose, but it's really not what I want.

If it's possible, I'd like to return the copy of Pathfinder #1 and the player's guide I received, cancel my subscription, and convert everything to store credit. Can I do that? If so, how?

Hi, folks. I need a little help and I knew the community here was the best place to look so here goes...

It's late, I'm tired, and I can't think straight, so don't think I'm being an idiot (though I probably am). I'm pretty sure I've seen rules (maybe a template or something?) for making aspects of the gods. Does anybody know where those rules are? Or am I just misremembering something? Anybody have any ideas?

Just curious - is this product still on schedule for August?

Can anyone out there in Paizo-land recommend some good software for generating character portraits? Thanks in advance.

Hi, you great folks at Paizo.

Dungeon #148 is later than usual. Has it shipped to subscribers yet? Should I keep waiting or do I need to request another copy?

Dungeon #144 never arrived. I thought it was just late, but when #145 got here I realized it probably wasn't coming. Any chance you could fix that? BTW, Savage Tide rocks!
