Pathfinder 1st edition fiddly rule question....

Hello hivemind, I have a question for how different DM's would approach a situation.
Scenario- BBEG is sending a note with sensitive information back and forth with someone, BBEG protects information on scroll by writing explosive runes on one side so if anyone intercepts and reads it the message is destroyed. PC's kill BBEG take scroll and read it, runes detonate and scroll is completely destroyed. Now if a player tried to cast make whole in this situation, would it work?
My stumbling blocks... 1. There doesn't seem to be a defined "destroyed" condition like there is for broken.
2. The make whole spell does say it can be used on destroyed "magic items", now it doesn't say it can work on destroyed non-magic items but I could see how you could assume that if it works for magic, then it would work for more easily repaired non-magical items.
3. HOWEVER under the damaging objects section of the SRD it says " Damaged (but not destroyed) objects can be repaired with the Craft skill and a number of spells. (eg. make whole or mending) " where it implies that destroyed items cannot be fixed with those spells
4. Would there be enough remnants of the scroll to even target with a spell like make whole? (the piece of paper took 26 points of damage)
5. Wierd thought, if it does work and you did repair the scroll, would it still have writing on it?
So what are everyone's thoughts?

As a gm I would rule that for 1) the attack would not provoke as the faq states they are flat footed for the attack. And 2) the movement would provoke since they are no longer flat footed as the attack has finished.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

It bugs me too, the only mechanical benefit I can find is mercenary theme, 6th level ability. Your strength counts as 1 higher for the purpose of encumberence there for 11 strength counts as 12 and you can still make use of the better backpack.

*edit: on closer look i cannot seem to find the passage i remember reading. Take my post with a gain of salt because I might be wrong.

I don't have the book in front of me so someone correct me if I am wrong but a separate change from pathfinder involves your new initiative score after performing a readied action. In pathfinder your new initiative after a readied action is directly before the character who triggered your readied action. In starfinder your new initiative is directly after the character who triggered the readied action. Therefore if the whole party readied attacks if they cast a spell, then bad guy casts spell and gets shot. The whole parties initiative is now behind the caster so they don't get a chance to ready an action before he can cast again. Sorry for being so verbose. I'll also double check the rule as soon as I can and I'll edit this post if I am way off base here.

The technomancer doesn't have engineering or computer skills?

Thanks for the insight!

Do I need a high strength to use heavy weapons with fabricate arms?

My Dec is starting at 16, so I'll likely not go down heavy armor route

I forgot to read the prerequisites, did not realize that longarm proficiency was a prereq for heavy. I'll start with long arm and just see where my build takes me. That or grab fabricate arms and blast heavy weapons that way.

I have heard that technomancers should take long arm proficiency but I also heard that heavy weapons have better damage total. For a class like technomancer who isn't likely to full attack much is heavy weapon proficiency actually better?

He would like us to try an break it, which is why I am asking for suggestions. Not doing this to be mean, or to break a balanced game, or to harrass my GM. He is trying to create something and wants to play test it against the broken type characters first.

So my DM issued a challenge to me and my friends this week, he is play testing a scenario that a mutual friend made up. Its called the Ragnarok engine basically its a 240 -240 block of death and destruction designed to go up against 5-6 Level 20 pc's.
He wants us to make a group of the most broken characters possible and go against this thing. we have heroic point buy stats, 880 000g and anything from any official pathfinder source (Other than the leadership feat). So what are some of your favorite min/maxed builds / item lists. Were going to be doing this at least 3 times and each time we need a different character build. Any suggestions?
