Ok, it's far away from Hero Lab (at least it doesn't need any installation ;) ) but I developed that :

Pathfinder Beginner Box Character Builder

So far it's just 10% English translated, but if there is a real interest here, I can put the full original names. It was thought for that so it should be easy, but there is a lot to do, so not so quickly.

Please not that Halfling and Paladin are homemade versions, not official ones.

I assumed that the Con bonus was added, but didn't see it in the rules.

page 32, Finishing touches, step 2 : "Add your CON Mod to your hit points".

And page 63, step 2 again : "Increase your hit points by the amount in your class level-up bar for your new class level. For example, if your level-up bar says 1d10+CON, roll 1d10 and add that roll and your CON Mod to your maximum hit points."

;)

I think updating the header to say this list is just examples of the category would cover this.

I agree.

By the way, I think you will not escape to specify arcane schools for the wizard spell.

In the first book, you specify which spells are forbidden for specialist wizard. But when like in your web enhancement you add new spells, beginner should be lost.

I suggest you just to add the school for wizard spells and in the wizard description just say :
EVOCATION : conjuration and illusion spells forbidden
ILLUSION : transmutation and necromancy spells forbidden
CONJURATION : enchantement and illusion spells forbidden

Thanks for your previous answers.

My comments :

1) TOUGHNESS : don't think that the fighter gain this ability for free at level 2 (it does not say that in fighter description), so the comment in the feat description should be deleted I guess.

2) PRECISE SHOT : prerequisite is not "Able to use a crossbow" but "POINT-BLANK SHOT" I guess.

3) STARKNIFE : should be in "Thrown" weapons group (fighter description).

4) SLING: should be in "Thrown" weapons group (fighter description).

5) DAGGER : should be in "Thrown" weapons group (fighter description).

6) WEAPON GROUP : should indicate that bonus do not stack in case a weapon is in various groups (like 'light hammer').

7) ARMOUR : should indicate what happen in case of Armor without Proficiency. I guess it's simply forbidden.

I would appreciate if someone can validate theses comments.

Thanks.

Hi,

I wonder if this box is a one shot, in order to introduce RPG to beginners, and then they all have to switch to PRPG, or if you're going to publish new adventures and new contents in the future for this "lite edition" ?

I mean, is it a new game that will live by his own like PRPG, or definitively players have to switch to PRPG after that because you will not develop it more ?

Hi,

I would like to present you my online Golarion calendar (CSS3 browser requiered !).

But I'm not so sure about the 1st day of the year, so I would like to have your opinion.

On the one hand James Jacobs said on Fri, Apr 9, 2010, 11:50 AM : "Golarion's days don't quite sync up perfectly to our days"

On the other hand he said on Sat, Jul 3, 2010, 07:18 PM : "Golarion calendar is intended to work exactly like the real world calendar".

First, I understand that for Paizo it's not an important detail, but in fact the only problem is the leap day, every 4 years IRL and every 8 years on Golarion.

Maybe it would the easier to say, like an errata, that on Golarion the leap day is also every 4 years.

I agree, except for the 4 levels thing, it was one of the problems I had with the basic set was it just advanced a bit and then stopped dead. I think people should know how far they can go even if they don't go there.

ok, but up to level 20 is for me too much for a lite game. Let say up to 10 ?

For the race, the 4 basic ones for me are human, dwarf, elf and halfling.

I have always found that "backwards compatibility" was more of a marketing strategy to help piggyback name recognition with 3.5e. Which is entirely fair.

+1

By my point of view, a Pathfinder lite/introducing game should present

- 4 classes (warrior, wizard, cleric and rogue)
- 4 levels
- simplified but compatible rules (I mean by simplified just a * selection * of skills, feats, spells, etc)

And people who apreciate this basic game should switch to the full pathfinder game soon !

Some comments :

1) For (all) prestige classes, when it said "proficient with [...] shields", does it include tower shields or not ?
It is always specified for core classes, but never for prestige classes.

2) Pathfinder chroniclers : they are no block about Weapon and Armor Proficiency. What should we assume ?

Hi there,

Making numbers, I found that the system is designed to give 1 level every 20 encounters of the party level (20 vs 13.3 in DD3.5)
Someone could confirm ?

Now, does exist a standard of how many encounters a party should be able to face before to have a forced rest ?

This, in order to have an idea of how many encounters a basic dungeon should have, and how many dungeons a PC has to do in order to gain 1 level.

Thanks.
