Looking forward to this arriving soon, but am fearful that it may be the last item in my Complete collection of Planet Stories. I would love that collection become temporarily incomplete once ever two months (or even more often). I would love to see this line continue. These have been among your greatest publications, so far.

Any update on what goodness is after that? Not yet. The third Silverberg hasn't made it to the printer yet (but keep in mind that since our novels are printed in the USA, we get them back a bit faster than the stuff we print in China). The Chalice of Death is now shipping. Is Planet Stories dead? I really hope not. I have absolutely loved this run. I have read a lot of authors I would never have seen before. And, I have read stuff by these authors that I would have never read before.
I would love to Planet Stories to continue. Thank you Paizo for exposing me to authors I may have never discovered.

Just went to Amazon and noticed "The Waters of Eternity". Reading through the description it is not fully clear if there is content not in "The Desert of Souls". I'll acquire it if there is, just not clear at this point.
Hey, I'm really delighted that you enjoyed it! Thanks for letting me know.
"Waters of Eternity" is the same characters, but entirely different stories about them. Thanks for letting me know the description isn't clear. I'll drop the publishers a line and see about getting the write-up changed.
Thanks for the interest and support.
Warm Regards,
Howard
Ordered! I hope they give you at least 3 bucks for it. :) But given the Kindle price was $2.99, that is probably optimistic. I'll try to read it soon. I have some chance given I am on a 3 day weekend. My 4 minute bus ride to work has been killing my reading opportunities.

I read about a dozen of the 100 posts. This is one of the toughest parts of role playing. When, I was in high school I probably had a 16 or 17 strength (higher in my dreams). I could easily imagine having a 20-23 strength. I'd like to think my INT and WIS were similarly high. If they are not, how can I really roleplay such a character?

Also, a brief plug for folks who like reviewing things: If you enjoy a novel (whether mine, some other PF Tales book, or a totally unrelated book), please post a review on its page at Amazon.com! Posting an Amazon review is one of the best things you can do to help an author--even if it's not a 5-star one--as it helps raise the book's profile, and people pay a lot of attention to what other readers have to say on there. This is especially true if you're already reviewing it on Paizo.com--it's easy to crosspost.
Crosspost? That sounds like work. :) But, I'll probably go ahead and do it.
I enjoyed the book (especially because I was paid very well while reading it). The only really odd moment I had BTW, this is a real last few pages spoiler so read at your own risk.
I am excited about this. While my job has not really changed my vacation blackout of June1-July15 has gone away. I see we can get to hotel on July 4. Does Seattle (or any other nearby cities) have any good 4th of July shows? I hesitate to use great as I grew up just outside DC.

Or are they about equal? What sort of wood, what sort of stone? There's a lot more than just "rock vs wood"... and I'm no expert in game mechanics, I was just trying to be clever It's probably the weight of the projectile that will make more of a difference. Ask anyone who has ever tried to "throw" a 16lb or even 8lb shot put. You're going to dislocate your shoulder long before you really throw it. A 3lb rock and a 3lb chunk of wood are probably going to, in general, do the same amount of damage. Now, if you are throwing a 3lb chunk of balsa wood or similar, aerodynamics is going to affect it so your "victim" might be able to catch it.
Although, with that said d4 + strength seems reasonable (and probably what I would do), especially with the -4 nonstandard weapon penalty.

I have two experiences on opposite sides of this issue. In a game I used to play early in college we had one player that rolled 6s ridiculously often on his d6 (he probably had a 3d6 weapon or something, but that was a long time ago. :) ) After one session a few of us were sitting around discussing his luck and someone noticed he had an odd way of "rolling" the dice. I don't know if he knew this was why, but we were soon able to roll 6s about 1/2 the time and basically 1s never occurred. We decided to suggest a change to rolling from a cup which seemed to dash some of his luck (and result in some of us dying).
The other experience was when my character had one of those ultra bad choices that basically ended in "You Die. No Save."(1e) I, as many of us had, complained about the arbitrariness of the situation and he suggested if I rolled 4 %-ile dice (d20s with only 0-9) and got all zeroes I would save. Low and behold it happened. When we get together, that roll still comes up, just kinda wish I wasted that luck on something more long-lasting.

I'm not, but it seems only polite. :D LOL, they won't see this BBEG for many sessions yet. I will be sure to tell them what you said when the time comes. I am revamping the leader of the Vodoni from the Spelljammer module, Under the Dark Fist. Making him a Mighty Godling instead of a Maeder, which never made sense anyway. You could always name the BBEG Owen or more subtlety K.C.

And i would be fine with that. The problem is that we have one system where if you're rich you get the free lunch in the form of lower tax rates, breaks, and incentives, a military that will secure your possessions overseas (whether or not they belong to you) and if you're working poor (a phrase swiftly becoming redundant) you're not supposed to get anything.
If anything it should be the other way around.
Democrats may be social engineering socialist socialites but at least they cop to it. Republicans pretend to be for a lack of government interference until their clientele either need a bail out or a moral issue passed. The federal tax rate in the US is progressive: the wealthier you are in terms on income (not capital gains), the more you pay in taxes. Tax shelters and incentives breaks apply mainly to investments, not base income from your job. 70% of all taxes to the federal government comes from the top half of incomes in the US. Actually 100% of taxes come from the top half of incomes in the US. 50% of households pay no income tax.
Yora wrote: I wonder if anyone was expecting that. I certainly didn't. I thought it was pretty much going to be the same as the adventures they published.
Though that makes me wonder how much of the sales of rulebooks is in relation to adventures. I know lots of people who love the game, but don't use published adventures at all.
Don't companies have to publish regular reports on their profits? How did Paizos profits turn out after the release of the rulebooks?
Publicly traded companies (i.e. you can buy stock) report on a regular basis (typically quarterly).

Expatriate of Leng wrote: Can a creature or character conduct more than one grapple at a time?
Two hands and a pair of legs would suggest to those interested in heroic/MMA encounters that up to three creatures could be grappled by one martial arts type character (namely, a Tetori monk*)
It says that if you can't get two hands free to grapple, you take a -4 so theoretically should you be able to grapple two targets at a -4 to each, and then, a circumstantial -8 for the grapple with the legs?
The trouble to this is that it is a standard action to maintain a grapple, therefore a grappler could only maintain of these grapples, initiating these grabs is accomplished with attacks of opportunity (the Tetori can make AoO while in a grapple). The trouble to this logic is that than creatures like the Grell or quintessential Kraken could only keep one target grappled while they are clearly designed to grapple a whole mess of targets, especially with their "-10 penalty to a grapple check to not also be grappled, unlike the normal -20 penalty to do this".
So either a Tetori monk can grapple upward to 3 targets at once, probably with some gruesome penalties, likely using the sort of make one CMB check against all of the targets' CMDs, ala "Black Tentacles" sort of ruling. Or creatures like the Kraken, clearly designed to multi-grapple, cannot maintain multiple grapples. The Tetori is clearly designed to be the grappling monster type character, but without a clear ruling on these sorts of messes, it's left to contentious house rulings.
*house ruled to avoid the whole missing feats issue
Any input or perspective on this issue would be awesome.
Quote: It says that if you can't get two hands free to grapple, you take a -4 so theoretically should you be able to grapple two targets at a -4 to each, and then, a circumstantial -8 for the grapple with the legs? These values seem reasonable. I would look at it similarly as if anyone of us is wrestling a couple of kids. If I am "attacked" by a couple of "kids", I can often grapple them (1 is easy, but maintaining 2 or more is difficult if they put any effort up).
I think this sizes up well from a talented "monk" to two normal creatures.

I'm not quite ready to review this, only about halfway through. The first novella was enjoyable. Planet Killers is pretty intense and I just got to the first climactic point. Looking forward to tomorrow's read on the bus.

Good luck on the venture. I'll probably read along.
Sounds quite interesting. I might be interested in playing a Bard-Scientist. Similar questions to OberonViking.
What? Showing up to the table with 6 lbs of dice will no longer be intimidating because my fellow gamers will show up with just their iPads.
They mystique of having a d7 and a d14 will soon wear off.

BTW, I like the idea and would definitely get a Pathfinder-enhanced version.

Buying the translation would help the local game store but .. well I also have bad memories of translations when I was young(er)... :D Like James said, Worldwound Gambit is the only one I've seen so far that would be questionable due to its overt sexual nature. Level 1 also tends to be kind of fickle, it's very easy to die at level 1, and thus your character is wasted. Not only that but several of the fun abilities PC have start coming around level 3-6.
I suspect the main reason is habit and history. Of course, the worst reason to not change something is it has always been done that way. Although, a related point is the worst reason to change something is it has always been done that way.

A Mechagodzilla Plush is an interesting idea. I could see the complications in building such a beast. However, 16 months seems quite a long time.
I could definitely seeing myself getting this. Is there a list of the phrases somewhere? Do we have control over which phrase is stated?
I could see how shouting "Inconceivable" or stating "As you wish" at the wrong time or to the wrong person could be perceived in a fashion not desired.
