The original release of Advanced class was heavily hampered by unclear cases and vague wording. It needed another month or two of editing. Now paizo has released their set of erratas and the result is....okay.
It isn't great but it isn't bad either. By combining classes it seemed Paizo was trying to meet a lot of people halfway so cross classing would be reduced. Some options work and some try too hard to be half and half and meet no ones expectations.
I like my core books to be full of new and meaty options. I want to struggle with my character builds when a core book comes out as I drool over new options.
This book doesn't meet my expectations from a core release. It suffers a bit of splat book specialization ie Options so utterly specific that they are only useful for fluff or related only to contents of that book. I am fine with those options in chronicles or companion books but not in core products.
Occult Adventures is a great addition to your players collections offering tools to create new characters that could not be done in the past.
As many will say the Kineticist is the hands down best of the book but each class has their own niche that they fill in the game.
Paizo is experimenting with new mechanics all throughout this book and while they don't all hit the mark the fact that they are playing around a lot more experimentally now will hopefully lead to greater things in future
This book is full of new and interesting options for play. From new characters, new character builds, new racial abilities, new items, new prestige classes and more. This book is the perfect addition to the core book and should allow you to make the perfect character just for you.
