I am looking for others around Hattiesburg for PFS/SFS. I am still not super familiar with the area since I moved here a couple of months ago, so I'm hopeful there are some folks out here looking as well... Steve Johnson

Dwarves are my go-to race to test out RPGs. I can tell how good a RPG is going to be by how they treat their dwarves. That’s my test. It’s so strange, but those little, bearded, axe-flailin’, goblin-smashin’ buggers are the best. And dwarves in space? Why not? A new challenge! Let’s do this! Stone Smithley, dwarf mechanic mercenary with a combat drone “I was born to me mutha an’ fatha onna Star Citadel outseye Diaspora. Dey had a ting fer de rocks an’ minin’ an’ stuff but I had de ting for de machins an’ de gadgets. So, when me beard be shorter, I’d seen dis holo ‘bout de ‘istory of me clan an’ how dey rode de wil’ boars inta battle. Dunno what de wil’ boar be but dat was badass. So, I made me one. I tink. Put de heavy laser on de flank an’ call dit de day. It’ll gimme de chance to kill sum space gobbos or orcs or sometin like dat. Sept dere not be any ‘round. So, I gots de job fixin’ de shuttles an’ de cruisas.” “Then I met dose Starfiners dat time when dey paid me fer some work. Sumtin nassy chewed up dat shuttle. Bigun nasty. Was sum heavy work but I gots it done. Dey said dey be lookin’ fer good mechanics like me since a lot of dere fellas was los’ or sumtin like dat. An’ din dey say dere be sum space gobbos out dere. An’ I swear right din an’ dere I grab up me fatha’s fur axe an’ me gran-fatha’s armor an’ load up me boar an’ said less go!” “Always fel’ dere was more to see, to do, to acheeve. Always fel’ dere was sumtin missin’. I tink me mutha an’ fatha was de same way. I cud feel dis sadness an’ sense o’ loss or sumtin. Seem like it be loss o’ dwarves be dis way. It even felt like ole Angradd wassun tellin’ us every ting. Shackin’ up wit’ dees Starfiners gonna help me to make de sense o’ t’all. I ken fix dey stuff den explore de space. Hopefully dey ken help me find de ansers. An’ to top it off, dey said I ken kill sum stinky space gobbos when dey fin’ sum.” Theme Song: Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi (I probably won’t be playing on PbP, but I’ll definitely be back to tell you how it went!)
Congratulations to all the new 5-stars! (And come to VrockCon 2017)

Bump. Bump. Both pages that I work are doing the same thing, Pathfinder's Paradise (APL) (games are actually on Thursdays) and VrockCon 2017 (games are supposed to be July 15-16). Any fixes or workarounds? I've tried to place it a day or two ahead, but it keeps going too far backward...
Venture-Captain Sir Danaris Redfeather, Knight Captain (Musket Master 5, Steel Falcon 5, Huntmaster 4) One of the most famous Andoren snipers has gone rogue. After a successful career in the Andoran military, Danaris has become disillusioned with the corruption of the country he has done so much for. He has made a list of individuals he feels are responsible for the state of his beloved nation and word has it that the list includes fellow Andoren military officer (and Pathfinder) Colson Maldris. The Decemvirate has tasked the players with protecting Maldris. They have also lent you a junior Pathfinder by the name of Lady Redfalcon, a young masked Tien woman accompanied by a lyrakien, who also seems to know quite a bit about Redfeather. Encounter A:
While in Maldris’ office in Almas, players must secure the building by constructing and modifying aspects of the building to protect Maldris from sniper fire. Defensive points help to determine how many shots get through. The lower the score, Maldris killed, scenario over. The higher the score, Lady Redfalcon is instead killed. Once she is killed a magical aura dissipates and instead reveals a teenage boy that closely resembles Redfeather. Lady Redfalcon (magical child vigilante 8) is revealed to be Redfeather’s son, Adrian. Encounter B:
After determining that the sniper shots did not come from a nearby rooftop but from Redfeather’s flying ship, the Shooting Star, silently hovering in the clouds some four hundred feet above the city. The players must get to the flying ship to bring Redfeather to justice, but must fight a horde of loyal halflings bent on using dirty tricks and repositioning and his first mate, Agrador, himself a famous privateer. Encounter C: The players find Redfeather in the captain’s quarters pacing and raving madly and crying uncontrollably. Players should realize that he was looking through the sight on his musket that fired the shot that killed his own son. Recognizing them as Pathfinders, he sneers, “Now I know what must be done.”
He pulls a lever that separates the dirigible from the hull and uses the sudden acceleration and confusion to escape by activating a teleportation device. Players must decide how they are to escape the plummeting ship and save as much of Almas as possible. But, where did Danaris go? That’s for Part 2. (I love two-parters!)
Lord Smudge, Trollbreaker (Sorcerer 12, Orc Bloodline) Known as one of the most feared half-orcs on Avistan (+42 Intimidate), Lord Smudge’s veins are swollen with ferocious orcish blood, granting him arcane powers beyond the most powerful of orc shamans. Wielding his magical great-axe, Man-Cleaver, Smudge has finally conquered a number of orcish tribes and united them under his Tribe Trollbreaker banner.
Final Battle: (In Rough Hewn Stone “Throne Room”)
Before Combat Smudge wears a goz mask and always has life bubble (24 hrs), false life (12 hrs) and protection from arrows (12 hrs) cast on himself. If Smudge knows opponents are close, he will use Power of the Giants at that time and sit on his throne (rather than the second round of battle). During Combat Smudge casts cloudkill around him. Next round he uses Power of the Giants (which he received early thanks to the robe of arcane heritage) and grows to large-size, concealed by the cloud. He then casts transformation in the next round as the cloud rolls away from him. His opponents rush forward, expecting to overwhelm a simple sorcerer but are greeted by a giant “raging” half-orc with a large-sized human-bane great-axe (3d6+30 something damage) with 3 attacks a round plus tusked bite and reach IN A CLOUDKILL. At this point his Intimidate skill is over +50 thanks to Intimidating Prowess and opponents are subject to be shaken for a long, long time with his Power Attack + Cornugon Smash combination. Morale If opponents manage to survive the 12 round duration of transformation, Smudge casts wall of fire (fire changed to acid if needed by an elemental metamagic rod of acid) between him and his opponents. He then uses vanish to make his getaway and plot revenge on those bold enough to overthrow him.
There's a few around: I've seen a gnome geokineticist, a couple hydrokineticist chirugeons, a psychic, and a spiritualist. I've heard of mesmerists and multi-class mediums lurking around, too. I myself have a super-armored dwarven occultist that is collecting multi-table specials and a mesmerist/unchained rogue. They're fun to play. Folks are just unsure about how fun they really can be =)
@Eshleman - I thought so. I think it was just wishful thinking on my part, but I wanted to check. I have a couple CORE characters that could've benefitted. It never hurts to ask! @Paul and @burkoJames - Thank you for your help! @andreww - Yeah, that's where I was wanting the clarification... it 'could' impact characters and I'd rather make sure. Ya know, put ducks in order.
So I have noticed that many of the newer chronicle sheets are granting access to non-CORE prestige classes AND allowing you to retrain feats/skills so that you qualify. So here's the question, and I'm wanting to make sure, if you play one of these scenarios in CORE, granted access to a non-CORE prestige class, and wish to retrain into that prestige class, but one of the prerequisite feats is from a non-CORE source, would it allow you to retrain those feats as well? EXAMPLE:
One Chronicle sheet grants access to both Hellknight and Hellknight Signifier. Hellknight is a definite CORE possibility, but the Signifier can require Warrior Priest (depends on which version you are going for), which is from Ultimate Magic. The line in the text on the chronicle sheet that makes me wonder if the Signifier is possible or not: "You may also freely retrain as many feats and skill ranks as is necessary in order to qualify for the prestige class." Am I just wishful thinking?
(I originally posted this in Gamer Connection. Whoops!) On May 14-15, 2016 at Gamer's Paradise in Flat Rock, NC we are having a mini-con! Admission is only $10 for the weekend, which all goes to The Park at Flat Rock. Don't wait because T-shirt pre-orders end April 30th! Register HERE!
Hey everyone! I decided to go in a slightly different direction. Here is Sajan's missing twin sister, Sajni. Enjoy! Spoiler: Sajni (Mirror Universe Sajan) CR 4 XP 1,200 Female Human Monk (unchained) 4 LE Medium humanoid (human) Init +4; Senses Perception +10 ----- Defense -----
----- Offense -----
----- Tactics -----
----- Statistics -----
From the far-off land of Vudra, twin martial artists Sajni and Sajan were separated when their lord was defeated and his armies divided. Sajni was displayed as a trophy and ended up a servant in both Absalom and Cheliax to a minor noble, while Sajan faced a death sentence when he deserted his homeland to look for her. Soon after, the noble offended Cheliax’s House Thrune and was ’written out of the history books’. Sajni, recognized for her martial discipline, was sent to the Sisterhood of Eiseth to serve and to train. Due to the harsh, painful and demanding training of the Sisterhood, Sajni mastered techniques that mimicked the hamatula in ways that others had never even dreamed.
Thanks! Nefreet mentioned a survey for classic play, too. I guess I'll need to do that! From my observations I've always noticed players that want that 'big-bang' character; a character that is made of several types of cheeses or overly specialized. The Society needs well-rounded characters, often filling multiple roles at the table because you never know who will be at your table! So, I think a survey is in order. Just give me a little time to get one up...
Since the Core Campaign started, I have come to enjoy playing the new format so much that our weekly game night at the local store basically runs all Core. It's giving a chance for new players a place to begin and old players a place to come back to. I think it is an excellent recruitment tool (for the ease of play) and a chance to revisit the older storylines for the established players. So, after giving it some time to develop, I decided to gather a little information about what players are playing (races, classes, feats, etc.) and write my next article discussing my findings. Please take a moment to take this SURVEY on your Core Characters. It's on Survey Monkey so I don't get any of your info and it's free for me to poll other players. I already surveyed my local lodge, but I want more responses. The more I get, the better the picture I get from the survey and the better the article. Thank you so much! Steve Johnson
@countchocula - Razmir?!?! What heretics! (I'm actually going through Masks of the Living God in Core mode with my Level 4 Cleric of Asmodeus... one more fight to go!) @Bazaar - Yeah, I could see how that would be weird with the other players as well. Creates a dissonance with people! @Nohwear - I know :( I was wondering if it was the mechanics and realized it was the theme.
So I was thinking of creating a new character (At the moment my lowest non-Core character is level 5.) and settled on creating a Rahadoumi Pure Legionnaire. The build involved him being a Daring Champion Cavalier with Order of the First Law and Slashing Grace with a scimitar then sliding into the Pure Legion Enforcer prestige class. He was going to be sweeeeeet! Here I am getting all pumped up for some fun and interesting role-play opportunities and able to hold my own in combat situations... then I see that Order of the First Law (from People of the Sands) is not PFS legal. Noooooooooo! My world is crushed. Well... it really took the wind out of my sails. So I guess the question is, why is this order not sanctioned? Is the order's abilities too strong? I've never really played a cavalier before so I'm not too knowledgeable on their overall power depending on the order. The Order of the First Law gives 1 temporary hit point on his turn every round he makes an attack against the target of his challenge. This ability increases by 1 for every 4 levels he possesses and any temp hit points go away after 1 hour. Sounds great and maybe a little powerful, but since you are unable to benefit from any divine magic (healing), does it balance out? Or is the way it is written not give any real drawbacks if you do not adhere to the Law of Man? Or did I answer my own question?
We're actually doing a mini-campaign with our Core at one of our locations. We've started out in Nirmathas with the Crypt of the Everflame and headed back to Absalom for various adventures in Season 0. We will return to Nirmathas in a couple weeks for Masks of the Living God, then Fangwood Keep and then City of Golden Death. I know those are quite a few modules, but playing through those as a campaign seemed to be like a fun choice.
