Cool, another Pathfinder Chronicler will be there! Thanks for getting back to this Erik, despite the stress. Hope the massage helped! I like the swearing. I never swear, but when you have to stress a point, it helps. Just not on every other adjective please! The 5 mins limitation should go to 6 mins. I think songs rarely go to 4 mins and beyond, so a couple lengthy pieces won't hurt terribly. I am all for a beer event. This time cold brews will be brought to the location. Cold homebrews. I kind of like the H.S. dance motif with Erik Mona as the D.J. and the room open for dancing with the lights down and the disco ball spinning. Nobody is out dancing, nobody. Alright Ashton. I have all my beers labeled and boxed for PaizoCon. After Wednesday I will be providing insight into the themes around the beers. I will label them once I arrive in Seattle. I will be sampling every one of them this Monday and Tuesday, taking notes as best I can. I have decided to create beer menus for Thursday night after the Crab Feed. They won't be much good after that because I expect the majority of the titles to be gone after that. These menus will be handed out at the door for those that wish to find their perfect beer. I promise to offer a beer drinking experience unlike no other. It appears there will be some twenty beers. Much different than last year's six. There will be some surprise beers that only a few people will get a chance to taste. One of these beers is the hit Dark Lager from the year before (single bottle). I will also have Berliner Weiss, Trappist Ale and the German Kolsch Ale. Happy Fun Ball indeed. A stupid exercise in film school try outs. The idea is so bad, John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness comes to mind. Quality is straight to video without a retake. A trio of good actors and some others that held interest, but nothing one would want their name associated with. Hard to believe the voice talent of Beowulf was thrown in this pit of hell. Cuba Gooding Jr. knows his weak points and shares them with anyone foolish enough to watch. Terrible terrible film. The alien looking Angel was the only cool factor, and it didn't get any play. What a crock! Erik Mona wrote:
Chance of the Vikings winning the Superbowl this year? I try to make all my rolls in the open when I GM. Sometimes it isn't story favorable to do so, but all my combats are out in the open for all to see. Players learn real quick that I have a higher calling ...to fate ...and that can be crueler than any cheating, but I am never questioned when it comes to trust issues. True what Montalve said above. We publish Pathfinder Fiction to our main site (guaranteed) but we do all genres and settings behind the curtains. We edit Non-Pathfinder stuff regularly and some of those pieces have been published. My piece, Forgiven being one of those. Paris Crenshaw introduced me to Wily Writers about 8 months ago, but I would have never known about them unless he had come to us and edited my work (as I did his). So, nice to be writing on this thread with other writers, but even more interesting to work with other writers at our editing pit at Pathfinder Chronicler. Erik Mona wrote:

I did feel this sting when I lived in Homedale Idaho and Nampa's "Team Dewey Toys & Hobbies " got exclusive Star Wars promo minis (different painted sculps), maps, and tokens. I guess I am willing to see past that now since I am near a FLGS. Feels like some kind of hypocrisy I am asking for. Lisa Stevens wrote:
No way will I debate the thumb. What makes Paizo successful in more ways than one is the Dark drinking queen. NSpicer wrote: Because of jetlag, I'll only attend the earliest possible gathering. Pulling late-night stuff at PaizoCon is tough for me. Just ask Lisa. I was struggling mightily to stay awake during the Grand Convocation event while roleplaying Princess Muhlia of the Qadira faction. By the time we ended (at midnight local time?), it was like 3AM in the morning for me...and I'm a morning person, not a night person. :-) Good Morning Neil! I love that you are a late night Qadira fan by direct orders. :) Vic Wertz wrote: However, without going into specific points on implementation, I can assure you that we do regularly consider the questions you raise, and we have some items on our to-do list that will move us further in the direction you indicate. Let us hope this reaches your "done" list. Give FLGS exclusive content not purchaseable by customers through Paizo. That would be a good start. Bottom line, it does undermine FLGS. Just like Amazon does. It allows you to own Pathfinder products without a place to find other like minded people. It allows you to drive by vacant buildings where Pathfinder Society games could have been played. It allows you to wonder why nobody has tried to start a FLGS in town. However, some things are worth fighting for and supporting. You can help FLGS in other ways. The biggest one is buying other products that keep them in business. FLGS need financial support and I think it takes maturity by those that love the hobby to realize this. They not only foster a positive environment but they provide a beacon of hope for those of us that love the hobby more than money. Make it your duty to see that your FLGS thrives. Erik Mona wrote:
No No No No! I hope my voice counts for something. I am not a mindless buyer in the bag which offers nothing but a cushion gap when sales are lower than expected. Just because someone has something bad to say, doesn't mean they are the only ones helping you improve your products. The dissenting critics don't deserve full ear. I want to be very clear about that. Some choices are good and some not so bad. If you limit yourselves to thinking you must please the whiners or push only "the best" ideas, than you miss the opportunity to reach places no one has tried. Products which don't satisfy everyone must be made to keep the possibility open for products that will blow everyone's socks off. I am not a fool with my money and this product stands for more than just usefulness or visual eye candy. It shows that I directly support initiatives that are developing and improving the RPG map hobby. If you never make a map like this again than what exactly do you intend to do? Erik Mona does not say PDFs will replace hard copies as the industry standard. What he does demonstrate is his enthusiasm towards the way things are evolving in the pen and paper gaming industry. What I am implying here is that he is "Pro Change" when it comes to pen and paper gaming and technology. He also never says that all Paizo books will be on a meter like iPads. I am fairly convinced it will be, if you desire it enough. It would be a convenience for me at conventions, but wouldn't replace my books at home. My original point was that you get a free PDF as a subscirber and this will come home big time in the years ahead. I guess you could say your character is a confident fellow. Everything can be explained though his God. He appreciates intelligent people, but they just don't see the big picture. An intelligent man knows details well, but a wise man knows the outcomes of most things before other people do. A wise person can give direction and purpose because they are naturally "in tune" with the nature of things. They speak with conviction and their advice deals with interactions and emotions. As a general rule they deal with soft problems that can't be explained with math or science. Wisdom is the fuzzy unexplainable. I am also a traditionalist when it comes to books. I cannot deny the drool on all the pages. I love when I get my copies and open them for the first time smelling their mint feel. Nothing like it. I don't wish them to stop printing books. That said, if I ever find myself playing games in New York or Belgium or Germany, my digital PDFs will be what I am most thankful for. I would owe it to Paizo for thinking so far ahead. They set me up so I can view all these resources from a PDF. When I am at home, its dead tree all the way baby, but as I find how scattered PFRPG people really are, I think having a handy iTouchpad with every single Piazo product on it would really create a lot of ease for my thoughts. I couldn't access those volumes so far away from home. I cannot carry them all. Joshua Frost said he had a two bag 35 lbs limit to fly into Belgium. Lightweight is the future. Paizo will support digital conveniences because it in their pioneering spirit to raise the bar. I suggest you listen to Erik Mona's speech at NeonCon. He makes it fairly clear the pulse he feels RPG is heading towards. I am sure he doesn't want Paizo to miss the boat. First off, welcome Grimsson! Have a beer on me. Grimsson wrote: I would like to know what I need/should buy to play. [Besides the dice, paper, etc]. Everyone has stated Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook and Bestiary. Pathfinder RPG was built to serve as a current "purchaseable" rulebook for this iteration of 3rd edition rules. Paizo stated very clearly that they didn't want newcomers to go to eBay to buy rules to play their adventures. The reason for not having a DMG/PH is to have everything "rules-wise" available to everyone playing the game. Its a big book, but it helps when three players add their eyes to the rule hunt. The Bestiary is the equivalent to a Monster Manual, but there are enough changes to how the monsters function to merit its purchase. Paizo made its name by producing Dragon and Dungeon Magazine which featured both adventures, crunch and fluff. Their greatest niche that they accomplished was their Adventure Paths in Dungeon. Pathfinder started off as a 3.5 OGL name brand featuring Adventure Paths set in their new world of Golarion. They followed up their success with Pathfinder Chronicles which supported their world and augmented their Adventure Paths. They were set to switch to 4.0 when the time came, but were unable to do so for a number of reasons. The biggest reason being how restrictive the 4.0 system is, when it comes to how adventures would be told. Grimsson wrote:
What you are asking for is this book, Pathfinder Chronicles: Campaign Setting . It is the Campaign Setting, but it is 3.5 rules. As I stated above, Pathfinder started as 3.5 OGL. The book is expensive because it will soon be out of print. It is a fantastic book. However, if you are willing to be a little patient, Paizo is updating the rules in the Campaign Setting to Pathfinder RPG,
Fluff comes in three forms: The first being the Pathfinder Chronicles line. This line covers Golarion in general, Cities of Golarion, Pathfinder Society, Map Folios that support the Adventure Paths, Guides to specific regions within Golarion, Gods of Golarion and just about anything concerning the Cosmos. The line also has a Classics Revisted "inner line" that gives iconic D&D creatures, items a full fleshing out. The second being the Advenure Paths . I know of some people that will never touch premade adventures. I can asure you that there is a lot to learn within these pages that have nothing to do with running an adventure. There are drop dead fascinating articles, excellent Golarion Fiction, and new creatures completely stated out. The idea of the Adventure Path is not only to provide an epic adventure, but to put in the DM's hands a resource that provides detailed background of the region, understanding the flavor of the adventure, touching on new game mechanics never before seen, adding a new prestige class such as the Hellknight. The Adventure Paths are full of wicked and cool that definitely falls into the fluff category. The third form is the Pathfinder Companion . This particular line was designed to be player friendly. It has a wealth of information which everyone can share. There is nothing in these sources that will reveal "DM eyes only" information. Though I would add that a DM should know what is in these books. They contain detailed information such as Empires, Equipment, Player's Guides and Races concerning Golarion. Now I could mention that the Pathfinder Modules are also Golarion specific. I might recommend that you run Crypt of the Everflame (1st Level Mod) so you can experience Pathfinder RPG nuances to the system. This module was designed to introduce Pathfinder RPG by the most excellent Jason Bulmahn. Just a suggestion. If you are curious as to how things work around here, I can tell you that I am a big Paizo fan. I subscribe to all their products directly from them. I do pay a bit more to do so, but I have a serious advantage by doing it this way. I get PDFs of all their books for free. That's right, you subscribe and then they give you a free PDF which you can download from their site, no matter where you end up. I think in the future this will become an even greater asset as we see iTouchpads doing away with books completely. Enjoy the world. Cheers,
Absolutely amazing! After watching this season of 13 episodes, I conclude this show is flippin' stunning. The blood effects are just something you have to get past. Once you do that, this thing is relentless and all encompassing. The cast makes the show, and the plot just keeps getting better and better. I kid you not, Spartacus: Blood and Sand has hit my classic status. The series could be complete with just one season. Incredibly climactic without cliffhanger cliche. I want season 2!
