Sounds good to me.

Zosimus strides off with Deserach and pony in tow, heading for the Dark Gate at a quick pace. "Musters are always such a mess when there's no watch to herd people. Hopefully we'll get something useful out of Hillsage and manage to find everyone else. I've no intention of running into whatever stung the Hells out of Winston on my own."

If this were a table-top game, I'd lean over to Fax and ask something heavy-handed like, "So, Zosimus, you're staying with the cart and helping to change the harness, and then, after that's taken care of and the dwarf returns with whatever intelligence he's collected, you're planning to seek out this sage?"

That's what I'm trying to do, actually, yes. (See previous post.) But I'm not going to just take off willy-nilly. Mostly because I can't drive the damn wagon. Unless you'd prefer it if I just went off blithely to visit this guy without other folks. I'll also point out that we have no way to actually meet up with the guy who's taken off for the other info source, so it's going to be interesting trying to make sure we all end up in the same place. *shrug*

"Hmm. Kara, Orislav, I've done readings for a gent just outside the walls, by the Dark Gate. He's got a fair bit of knowledge about the mines and caves in the area--might be able to give us a direction to go look. Spiders and bandits tend to like caves, so that's at least a lead."

I'm staying with the cart, and I've only got 2sp left to my name so I'm tapped, sorry.

Zosimus pats his purse. "Well, I'll contribute to the wagon fund. I'm a bit light, though--just had to provide a supplement to the local guard's morale fund. It's just a couple of gold, but it's all I've got."

"18 miles? Winston's hardier than I thought, coming all that way poisoned and with a broken arm. Curious what he was doing patrolling out that far, too. Seems well outside the beat of a town watchman. If we're going to hire a cart, then, we should be about it. I shouldn't think a cart and driver would cost much to rent for the evening. Anyone else willing to chip in?"

Do I know anything about these bandits? For Knowledge (local) and Knowledge (history): (1d20+8=15, 1d20+8=22)

Zosimus shakes the tattoo'd man's hand, turning the hand a bit to get a better look at the marks. "Nice art."

He nods at the female warrior.

"I'm Zosimus. Pleasure's mine. Cryptic warnings are always fun. We'll have to keep a weather eye out for anyone trying to spirit a child off."

"If you're heading to the farm, let's step outside and get ourselves organized. No sense crowding the deputy, there."

Zosimus steps out the door, tugging his cloak around him. He hums tunelessly for a bit, waiting for the half-orc to get back and the others to come out.

Zosimus speaks up from the bar. "If there's a muster, I'll volunteer, too." Tucking a box into his belt pouch, he steps over to the group forming around the deputy.

Chris' Golarion Campaign discussion.

Zosimus is from the Furrows, and blames the Barstoi for all the woes that resulted in the creation of that unpleasant place. He's kicked around most of Ustalav and made occasional forays to Lastwall and the River Kingdoms, following the will of the deck.

Carrion Hill's been a touchstone in Ustalav for him; he tends to return there, particularly after a sojurn outside of his native land. The last trip, into Lastwall, ended about six months ago, and since then he's been doing readings and honing his magic.

His goals are to redeem his ruined land, take revenge on the Borstoi for the harm inflicted on it and its people, and follow Desna's course for his life as revealed in the Harrow deck. To that end he does frequent readings for himself, using the results to guide his decisions. Right now, though, he'd like to put some silver in his pocket and polish his magical skills, something he's smart enough to know he'll need to do if he's ever going to get revenge.

"...and the Vision, here--is there insanity in your family?" Zosimus looks up from the reading he's giving a workman. A frown creases his face as Winston's face registers, but the cry for a muster erases it. He gathers the deck and places it back in its box, and pushes the silver coins back to the workman.

"We'll have to do the reading another time, my friend." He nods at Winston. "Looks like Pharasma's going to be a bit more direct with our fates than usual." With that, he stands, and moves closer to the bar to better be able to hear what's going on.

Winston's rousted Zosimus from a streetcorner or three in the past few months, but never with any rancor. Not a personal relationship, but the two know each other by sight, at least.

And my current idea; tweaking or questions welcome, of course.

I assumed the average amount of starting cash in the PFRPG for equipment buying, and Zosimus's harrow deck is handmade, so it costs 33gp (rather than the 100gp listed in the CotCT Player's Guide. I'm also assuming he's had time prior to the campaign start to create the item, with average rolls.

My plan is to shoot for the Harrower prestige class from the Campaign Setting, unless you're disagreeable to that.

Any other information you'd like to see about the characters?
